ABSTRACT
El presente artículo describe las problemáticas encontradas en personal de custodia y vigilancia del Instituto Penitenciario Colombiano presentadas en el intervalo de 2000 a 2005. Se observan 378 casos que reportan incidencia de homicidio, suicidio, accidentalidad y uso de sustancias psicoactivas. Todas estas circunstancias requieren una explicación científica del fenómeno y representan un desafío social e institucional para prevenir e intervenir en la salud mental de los guardianes penitenciarios. Se concluye que las problemáticas más frecuentes son las asociadas con muerte y heridas y que el rango más vulnerable de la población son los dragoneantes.
The present article describes problematic in the personnel of safekeeping and the presented/displayed monitoring of the Colombian Penitentiary Institute in the interval from 200 to 2005. 378 cases were observed that report incidence of homicide, suicide, accidentally and use of psychoactive substances. All these circumstances require a scientific explanation of the phenomenon and represent a social and institutional challenge to come up and to take part in the mental health of the penitentiary guardians. One concludes that problematic the most frequent ones are the associates with death and hurt and who the most vulnerable rank of the population are the private first classes.
