ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Epigenetic modifications might be associated with serum triglycerides (TG) levels. This study aims to systematically review the studies on the relationship between the methylation of specific cytosine-phosphate-guanine (CpG) sites and serum TG levels. This systematic review and meta-analysis study was conducted according to the PRISMA 2020 (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) statement. A systematic literature search was conducted in Medline database (PubMed), Scopus, and Cochrane library up to end of 2020. All observational studies (cross-sectional, case-control, and cohort) were included. Studies that assessed the effect of DNA methylation of different CpG sites of ABCG1, CPT1A, and SREBF1 genes on serum TG levels were selected. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) checklist was used to assess the quality of included articles. Among 2790 articles, ten studies were included in the quantitative analysis and fourteen studies were included in the systematic review. DNA methylation of ABCG1 gene had significant positive association with TG levels (β = 0.05, 95% CI = 0.04, 0.05, P heterogeneity < 0.001). There was significant inverse association between DNA methylation of CPT1A gene and serum TG levels (β = −0.03, 95% CI = −0.03, −0.02, P heterogeneity < 0.001). DNA methylation of SREBF1 gene was positively and significantly associated with serum TG levels (β = 0.03; 95% CI = 0.02-0.04, P heterogeneity < 0.001). DNA methylation of ABCG1 and SREBF1 genes has positive association with serum TG level, whereas this association is opposite for CPT1A gene. The role of epigenetic factors should be considered in some populations with high prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of half-saline (HS) serum as an irrigation solution in chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) surgery using the burr hole craniostomy (BHC) technique. @*Methods@#This randomized clinical trial was conducted in university hospital referral centers from 2020 to 2021. Sixty-three patients with CSDH eligible for BHC were primarily enrolled. Two patients were excluded because of concurrent stroke. Sixty-one patients were randomly allocated into case (HS=30) and control (normal-saline [NS]=31) groups. HS was used to irrigate the hematoma in the case group and NS was used in the control group. The patients were followed-up. Clinical variables including demographic and medical findings, postoperative computed tomography findings, postoperative complications, hospitalization period, recurrence rate, and functional status measured by the Barthel type B index were recorded. @*Results@#Forty-six of 61 patients were male (75.4%), and the patients’ mean age was 65.4±16.9 years, with equal distribution between the 2 groups. Postoperative effusion and postoperative hospital stay duration were significantly lower in the HS group than in the NS group (p=0.002 and 0.033, respectively). The postoperative recurrence within 3 months in both groups was approximately equal (6.6%). In terms of functional outcomes and postoperative complications, HS showed similar results to those of NS. @*Conclusion@#HS as an irrigation fluid in BHC effectively reduced postoperative effusion and hospital stay duration without considerable complications.

ABSTRACT

Background@#Evidence supporting various diagnostic criteria for diagnose gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are consensus-based, needs for additional evidence related to outcomes. Therefore, the aim of this systematic-review and meta-analysis was to assess the impact of different GDM diagnostic-criteria on the risk of adverse-neonatal-outcomes. @*Methods@#Electronic databases including Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Sciences were searched to retrieve English original, population-based studies with the universal GDM screening approach, up to January-2020. GDM diagnostic criteria were classified in seven groups and International Association of the Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups (IADPSG) was considered as reference one. We used the Mantel–Haenszel method to calculate the pooled odds of events. The possibility of publication bias was examined by Begg’s test. @*Results@#A total of 55 population-based studies consisting of 1,604,391 pregnant women with GDM and 7,770,855 non-GDM counterparts were included. Results showed that in all diagnostic-criteria subgroups, the risk of adverse neonatal outcomes including macrosomia, hyperbilirubinemia, respiratory distress syndrome, neonatal hypoglycemia, neonatal intensive care unit admission, preterm birth, and birth-trauma were significantly higher than the non-GDM counterparts were significantly higher than non-GDM counterparts. Meta-regression analysis revealed that the magnitude of neonatal risks in all diagnostic-criteria subgroups are similar. @*Conclusion@#Our results showed that the risk of adverse-neonatal-outcome increased among women with GDM, but the magnitude of risk was not different among those women who were diagnosed through more or less intensive strategies. These findings may help health-care-providers and policy-makers to select the most cost-effective approach for the screening of GDM among pregnant women.

Purpose@#To evaluate the effect of smoking on retinal thickness and macular and peripapillary vascular density in thyroid eye disease (TED). @*Methods@#In this cross-sectional study, subjects diagnosed with TED were analyzed in three groups: smokers, passive smokers, and non-smokers. Ganglion cell complex thickness, total retinal thickness, macular superficial vascular plexus densities, deep vascular plexus densities, optic nerve head, and radial peripapillary capillary density were measured in each group. @*Results@#Twenty-two eyes (21.6%) of active smokers, 11 eyes (10.8%) of passive smokers, and 69 eyes (67.6%) of non-smokers constitute the study subjects. Twenty-one eyes (12.6%) had active status (clinical activity score ≥3), 77 eyes (46.1%) were neither active nor compressive, four eyes (2.4%) of two patients constituted the compressive group. Age and disease activity adjusted analysis was performed. Ganglion cell complex thickness of smokers was significantly higher than non-smokers in the inferior hemi-parafoveal sector (p = 0.04). Active smokers had significantly higher (p < 0.01) retinal thickness in all sectors compared to non-smokers, except the foveal sector. Smokers had lower superficial vessel density in the superior parafoveal sector compared to non-smokers (p = 0.04). Considering deep vessel densities between smokers and non-smokers, no significantdifference was observed. Radial peripapillary capillary densities (significant difference was observed in the whole image and infranasal peripapillary sector), Macular vascular densities (significant difference was observed in parafoveal sectors), and optic nerve head (not reaching statistical significance level in any sectors) were highest in passive smokers. @*Conclusions@#Smoking is associated with increased total retinal thickness. Macular vascular densities were not different between smokers and non-smokers in TED.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND@#This systematic and meta-analysis review aimed to provide an updated estimate of the prevalence of ever and current cigarette smoking in women, in geographic areas worldwide, and demonstrate a trend of the prevalence of smoking over time by using a cumulative meta-analysis.@*METHODS@#Following PRISMA guidelines, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies published on the prevalence of ever and current cigarette smoking in women. We searched PubMed, Web of Science (ISI), Scopus, and Ovid from January 2010 to April 2020. The reference lists of the studies included in this review were also screened. Data were reviewed and extracted independently by two authors. A random effects model was used to estimate the pooled prevalence of ever and current cigarette smoking in women. Sources of heterogeneity among the studies were determined using subgroup analysis and meta-regression.@*RESULTS@#The pooled prevalence of ever and current cigarette smoking in women was 28% and 17%, respectively. The pooled prevalence of ever cigarette smoking in adolescent girls/students of the school, adult women, pregnant women, and women with the disease was 23%, 27%, 32%, and 38%, respectively. The pooled prevalence of ever cigarette smoking in the continents of Oceania, Asia, Europe, America, and Africa was 36%, 14%, 38%, 31%, and 32%, respectively.@*CONCLUSIONS@#The prevalence of cigarette smoking among women is very high, which is significant in all subgroups of adolescents, adults, and pregnant women. Therefore, it is necessary to design and implement appropriate educational programs for them, especially in schools, to reduce the side effects and prevalence of smoking among women.

ABSTRACT

Objective. This work sought to determine the effect of an educational intervention based on the stages of change in promoting physical activity in employees in the Mashhad airport in Iran. Methods. This was a quasi-experimental study conducted with the participation of 60 volunteers (30 in the intervention group and 30 in the control group) who were in the stages of contemplating or preparing for change in physical activity. The intervention consisted in educational activities provided during home visits, telephone calls, group training sessions, and delivery of printed material. To gather the information, the study used five questions on the stage in which they were for behavioral change in physical activity, according to the Theoretical Model by Marcus et al., (1. pre-contemplation, 2. contemplation, 3. preparation, 4. action, and 5. maintenance), and the International Questionnaire on Physical Activity. Changes in the stages were evaluated during three moments: upon entering the study, at the end of the intervention (8th month), and two months after the second evaluation (10th month). Results. During the 10th month evaluation, it was noted that 26.7% of the subjects from the intervention group versus 3.3% from the control group improved their physical activity and were in the action stage (p<0.01). Conclusion. The educational intervention based on stages of change is effective in promoting physical activity in the participants and may be used in educational programs that seek to improve physical activity in the employees studied.


Objetivo. Determinar o efeito de uma intervenção educacional baseada nos estágios de mudança na promoção da atividade física nos funcionários do aeroporto de Mashhad, no Irã. Métodos Estudo quase experimental realizado com a participação de 60 voluntários (30 no grupo intervenção e 30 no grupo controle) que estavam nos estágios de contemplação ou preparação para a mudança na atividade física. A intervenção consistiu em atividades educativas realizadas durante visitas domiciliares, telefonemas, sessões de treinamento em grupo e entrega de material impresso. Para a coleta de informações, foram utilizadas 5 questões no estágio em que se destinava à mudança de comportamento na atividade física, conforme o Modelo Transteórico de Marcus et al. (1. pré-contemplação, 2. Contemplação, 3. Preparação, 4. Ação e 5. Manutenção) e o Questionário Internacional de Atividade Física. As alterações nas etapas foram avaliadas em três momentos: na admissão ao estudo, ao final da intervenção (mês 8) e dois meses após a segunda avaliação (mês 10). Resultados. Na avaliação de 10 meses, observou-se que 26.7% dos indivíduos no grupo intervenção versus 3.3% no grupo controle melhoraram a atividade física e estavam no estágio de ação (p<0.01). Conclusão A intervenção educacional baseada nos estágios de mudança é eficaz na promoção da atividade física dos participantes e pode ser usada em programas educacionais que visam melhorar a atividade física dos funcionários.

Estudio cuasiexperimental realizado con la participación de 60 voluntarios (30 en el grupo de intervención y 30 en el grupo control) quienes se encontraban en las etapas de contemplación o preparación para el cambio en la actividad física. La intervención consistió en actividades educativas proporcionadas durante visitas domiciliarias, llamadas telefónicas, sesiones de capacitación en grupo y entrega de material impreso. Para la recolección de información se utilizaron 5 preguntas sobre la etapa en la que se encontraba para el cambio de comportamiento en la actividad física, según el Modelo Transteórico de Marcus et al. (1. pre-contemplación, 2. contemplación, 3. preparación, 4. acción y 5. mantenimiento), y el Cuestionario Internacional de Actividad Física. Los cambios en las etapas se evaluaron en 3 momentos: al ingreso al estudio, al finalizar la intervención (mes 8) y dos meses después de la segunda evaluación (mes 10). Resultados. En la evaluación de los 10 meses se apreció que el 26.7% de los sujetos del grupo de intervención versus el 3.3% del grupo control mejoraron su actividad física y se encontraban en la etapa de acción (p<0.01). Conclusión. La intervención educativa basada en las etapas de cambio es efectiva en la promoción de la actividad física en los participantes por lo que puede ser empleada en programas educativos que tengan como objetivo mejorar la actividad física de los empleados

ABSTRACT

To investigate Phlebotomus (P.) sergenti Parrot, 1917 (Diptera: Psychodidae) salivary gland antigens and their immune response in human. Methods: Human volunteers were exposed to sand flies' bites in the laboratory, and following each exposure the size of induration was recorded. The mean protein concentration of salivary gland lysate and specific anti-P. sergenti saliva IgG was measured. Sand fly salivary proteins were separated by SDS-PAGE and their immunoreactivity was examined by Western blotting assays. Results: Individuals exposed to P. sergenti salivary gland lysate for 8 months showed both antibody and delayed type hypersensitivity responses, although exposure for one month did not provoke any immune responses. The trend of antibody fluctuated during the exposure time and dropped by the end of antigen loading. The mean protein content was (0.36?0.08) ug in each pair salivary glands. Salivary gland lysate showed 11 to 12 major protein bands and 3 to 6 of them were immunoreactive. Conclusions: Our study showed that the salivary gland components of P. sergenti provoked both cellular and humoral immune responses in human. Furthermore, there are some immunogenic proteins in P. sergenti saliva which could be subjected for further investigation as vector-based vaccine candidate/s against anthroponotic cutaneous leishmaniasis.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: Orbital exenteration is a psychologically and anatomically disfiguring procedure which indicated in some patients with malignant or progressive diseases of orbital and periorbital area. In this study, we reviewed 176 patients that underwent orbital exenteration. METHODS: This was a retrospective study of medical records from all patients who underwent orbital exenteration from March 1991 to March 2014 in oculoplastic department at an eye care center. Demographic data, diagnosis, site of primary involvement and technique of surgery were determined in patients. RESULTS: One hundred seventy-six cases of orbital exenteration were included that had documented histopathology. The age of patients ranged from 1 to 91 years (mean age ± standard deviation, 55.43 ± 27 years). Ninety-seven (55.11%) males and 79 (44.88%) females were included. Fifteen different tumors were identified. The most common indication was patients with basal cell carcinoma 49 (28%) followed by 41 (23.5%) squamous cell carcinomas, 35 (20%) retinoblastoma, and 13 (7%) adenoid cystic carcinomas. In total, adnexal malignancies were the most common tumors, secondarily involving the orbit. Eyelids 89 (50.5%) and the globe 43 (24%) were the most frequent site of involvement. Three types of exenteration were performed, based on available data of 129 operation sheets, 46 (35.7%) subtotal, 62 (48.1%) total, and 21 (16.3%) cases of extensive exenterations. In total 97 cases were evaluated pathologically for perineural involvement, of which perineural invasion was noted in 9 (7%) reports. CONCLUSIONS: Frequency of exenteration in our center has increased in past 3 years and the majority of cases were eyelid basal cell carcinoma. Patient education considering periocular lesions can help in earlier diagnosis of malignant lesions and therefore reducing the number of exenteration.

Introduction: The effects of environmental exposure during critical periods of gestational life on fetal growth and development have been confirmed by a large number of studies on human and animal models. Sex hormons are among the most influential environmental factor which affect on growth and development of different organs of fetus. Among them, androgens are the most important ones because they have various sources of production and secretion. Result previous studies that exposure to androgens during pregnancy may act as a teratogenic agent and cause defects, deministrated in offspring's endocrine and neural system developments. Considering the importance of this critical period for the development of some abnormal features in adulthood, basic research and clinical prevention efforts need to be run at this stage. This review article presents evidence on the effect of excessive androgens during fetal life on embryo development and evolution, which can lead to the development of certain phenotypes / diseases in adulthood

ABSTRACT

Background: Non-obstructive azoospermia [NOA] occurs in approximately 10% of infertile men. Retrieval of the spermatozoa from the testicle of NOA patients is an invasive approach. Seminal plasma is an excellent source for exploring to find the biomarkers for presence of spermatozoa in testicular tissue. The present discovery phase study aimed to use metabolic fingerprinting to detect spermatogenesis from seminal plasma in NOA patients as a non-invasive method


Methods: In this study, 20 men with NOA were identified based on histological analysis who had their first testicular biopsy in 2015 at Avicenna Fertility Center, Tehran, Iran. They were divided into two groups, a positive testicular sperm extrac-tion [TESE[+]] and a negative testicular sperm extraction [TESE[-]]. Seminal plasma of NOA patients was collected before they underwent testicular sperm extraction [TESE] operation. The metabolomic fingerprinting was evaluated by Raman spec-trometer. Principal component analysis [PCA] and an unsupervised statistical meth-od, was used to detect outliers and find the structure of the data. The PCA was ana-lyzed by MATLAB software


Results: Metabolic fingerprinting of seminal plasma from NOA showed that TESE [+] versus TESE[-] patients were classified by PCA. Furthermore, a possible subdi-vision of TESE[-] group was observed. Additionally, TESE[-] patients were in ex-treme oxidative imbalance compared to TESE[+] patients


Conclusion: Metabolic fingerprinting of seminal plasma can be considered as a breakthrough, an easy and cheap method for prediction presence of spermatogenesis in NOA

Introduction: Balance in the elderly is one of the important issues, and imbalance can create irreparable problems for the elderly. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Frenkel balance exercise and aerobic exercise [walking] on improving the balance of elderly patients in Kerman province in 2016-2017


Methods: We used a randomized block design, with 4 participants in each block; 48 elderly men and women living in the nursing homes of Kerman province were randomly assigned to two groups, balance [Frenkel] exercises and aerobic exercises [walking]. The two groups performed Frenkel exercises and aerobic exercises [walking] for three 10- to 15-min sessions a week for five weeks. The balance time using the Sharpened Romberg test was recorded to measure static balance and the Get Up and Go test used to measure dynamic balance before and after the exercise program. To describe the variables studied, central tendency indicators and dispersion were used. Paired t-test was used to compare the time of balance before and after intervention and independent t-test to compare changes in balance time between two groups


Results: The mean static balance [with Sharpend Romberg test] was increased from 3.16 s to 6.01 s in Frenkel exercise, and from 3.33 s to 4.95 s in aerobic training group, indicating an improvement in the static balance after intervention. The mean time of dynamic balance [in the Get Up and Go test] during Frenkel exercise reduced from 17.07 s to 12.03 s, and during aerobic training from 17.08 s to 10.9 seconds, indicating an improvement in dynamic balance [p < 0.01]. However, there was no significant difference in the mean changes in the duration of dynamic and static balance before and after intervention in the two groups


Conclusion: Both Frenkel exercise and walking equally improve static and dynamic balance in the elderly in different settings

ABSTRACT

Context: reproductive domains of the Tehran lipid and glucose study [TLGS] are unique in that they provide reliable information on reproduction of an urban population ofWest Asia. The aim of this review is to present the most important reproductive findings of TLGS


Evidence Acquisition: this review is summarizing all articles published in the context of reproductive aspects of TLGS results over the 20-year follow-up. A comprehensive databases search was conducted in PubMed [including Medline], Web of Science and Scopus for retrieving articles on the reproductive histories in context of the TLGS


Results: the mean [SD] age at menarche and menopause was 13 [1.2] and 49.6 [4.5] years respectively. While pills were the most commonly used modern methods at the initiation of TLGS, the prevalence of condoms rose sharply and significantly over the follow up duration. Among women with history of gestational diabetes, the risk of diabetes and dyslipidemia progression were 2.44 and 1.2 fold higher than others. Prevalences of PCOS and idiopathic hirsutism among reproductive age participants of TLGS were 8.5% [95% CI: 6.8% - 10.2%] and 13.0% [95% CI: 10.9% - 15.1%], respectively. Trend of cardio-metabolic risk factors among women with PCOS showed that there were no statistically significant differences between mean changes of each cardio metabolic variables between PCOS and healthy women; PCOS status also significantly associated with increased hazard of diabetes and prediabetes among women aged younger than 40 years [HR: 4.9; 95% CI: 2.5 - 9.3, P value < 0.001]] and [HR: 1.7; 95% CI: 1.1 - 2.6], P value < 0.005], respectively


Conclusions: the population based nature of TLGS provides a unique opportunity for valid assessment of reproductive issues, the results of which could provide new information for modification of existing guidelines

ABSTRACT

Buprenorphine is a partial mu agonist and kappa antagonist which is used for the treatment of pain and opioid addiction. A mixture of buprenorphine hydrochloride and naloxone hydrochloride has been approved for the treatment of opioid dependence. In this study a third order derivative spectrophotometric method based on zero-crossing technique has been used for the simultaneous determination of buprenorphine hydrochloride and naloxone hydrochloride in tablets. The measurements were carried out at wavelengths of 257.8 [zero-crossing point of naloxone hydrochloride] and 252.2 nm [zero-crossing point of buprenorphice hydrochloride] for buprenorphine hydrochloride and naloxone hydrochloride, respectively in the third order derivative spectra obtained in methanol and 0.1 M NaOH [50:50] as solvent. The method was found to be linear in the range of 20-80 micro g/mL for buprenorphine hydrochloride and 5-20 micro g/mL for naloxone hydrochloride. The within-day and between-day coefficient of variation and error values were less than 2.5% and 1.8%, respectively. The proposed method was successfully used for simultaneous determination of these drugs in pharmaceutical dosage form without any interference from excipients or need to prior separation before analysis

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Women's quality of life following menopause is influenced not only by physical and psychosocial factors, but also by menopause-related concerns, their feelings and attitude and adjustment to menopause. The aim of the present study was to assess women's experiences after menopause and its related factors


Materials and Methods: This descriptive study was conducted in 2016 on 350 menopausal women referred to 12 health centers affiliated to Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. Subjects were recruited using a two-stage sampling method, and data were collected through interview using two questionnaires, including a demographic questionnaire and a valid and reliable questionnaire, the "assessment of women's experiences in after menopause". Data was analyzed using Pearson and spearman correlation coefficient, one way ANOVA and multiple linear regression statistical methods


Results: Assessment of women's experiences in after menopause revealed a total score of 34.9+/-16.9 percent [Mean+/-SD]. Scores for the domains of women's experiences in menopause were 42.8+/-19.3% for physical complications, 34.8+/-26.4% for negative attitudes, 34.1+/-27.5% negative feelings, 32.7+/-19.6% for concerns, 33.2+/-28.2% for adjustment, and 29.5+/-24.3% for psychological complications. Duration of menopause was the only predicting factor for total score of women's experiences in menopause, i.e., with addition of one year to duration of menopause, the total score decreased by 1 point


Conclusion: Duration of menopause was the only predicting factor for the total score of women's experiences. Future policies and programs for improving quality of life of women after menopause should concentrate on decreasing menopause related physical complications, negative attitudes and feelings, concerns and psychological complications

ABSTRACT

Due to its minimal systematic adverse effects, transdermal estrogen is widely used for the prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. The present meta-analysis aimed to clarify the effects of transdermal estrogen on bone mineral density [BMD] of postmenopausal women. Studies were identified by searching electronic databases including Cochrane Library, MEDLINE, Embase, and CINAHL databases, and also the Sciences Citation Index. Systematic review of articles was published between January 1989 to February 2016.Reference lists of the included articles were also evaluated and consultations were made with relevant experts. While 132 studies included the desired keywords, only nine clinical trials met the inclusion criteria and were finally reviewed. The pooled percent change in BMD was statistically significant in favor of transdermal estrogen. According to resulting pooled estimate, lumbar spine BMD one and two years after transdermal estrogen therapy was respectively 3.4% [95% CI: 1.7-5.1] and 3.7% [95% CI: 1.7-5.7] higher than the baseline values. The test for heterogeneity was not statistically significant based on the I2 heterogeneity index. One-two years of transdermal estrogen delivery can effectively increase BMD and protect the bone structure in postmenopausal women

ABSTRACT

Background: Intelligence is one of the big standards in present arrangement with the society and important factors of difference between persons. This study aimed to investigate impact of emotional intelligent education on emotional intelligent improvement among medical students of Tehran Medical Branch


Materials and methods: This quasi- experimental study with pre-test and post - test design with was done on all medical students of Tehran Medical Branch in year 2014-2015. 40 students were selected by simple random sampling and assigned in two groups. Bar - on standard emotional intelligent questionnaire [2002] was used. The experimental group received eight training sessions


Results: There was significant relationship between reduced mean score of experimental group, before and after the training. T- test statistical test indicated changes in the performance of experimental group related to control group [P<0.05]


Conclusion: The results showed that emotional intelligence education had impact on personal skill, general mood and coping with stress; though this training did not have impact on interpersonal skills and adaptability among students

ABSTRACT

Background: Recurrent Spontaneous Abortion [RSA] is caused by multiple genetic and non-genetic factors. Around 50% of the RSA cases have no known etiology and are considered as Unexplained RSA [URSA]. Estrogens, via binding to their receptors, play an important role in female reproduction. This study aimed to investigate whether single nucleotide polymorphisms [SNPs; +1082G/A, +1730G/A and rs1256030C/T] in the estrogen receptor beta [ESR2] gene are associated with susceptibility to URSA in a population of Iranian women


Methods: In this case-control study, the study groups consisted of 240 subjects with a history of URSA and 102 fertile women as controls. Serum levels of follicle stimulating hormone [FSH], luteinizing hormone [LH], and estradiol [E2] were measured on day 2-3 of menstrual cycle. Two functional SNPs, +1082G/A [a silent mutation in exon 5] and +1730G/A [3' untranslated region of the exon 8], and one intron, rs1256030C/T, in the ESR2 gene were genotyped, using polymerase chain reaction- restriction fragment length polymorphism [PCR-RFLP] analysis


Results: Serum levels of LH were significantly increased in URSA women. No significant differences in distribution of +1082G/A, +1730G/A and rs1256030C/T between URSA and control groups were observed


Conclusion: Our findings suggest that the studied SNPs on ESR2 gene may not be associated with URSA

ABSTRACT

Currently, there are 20,197 human protein-coding genes in the most expertly curated database [UniProtKB/Swiss-Pro]. Big efforts have been made by the international consortium, the Chromosome-Centric Human Proteome Project [C-HPP] and independent researchers, to map human proteome. In brief, anno 2017 the human proteome was outlined. The male factor contributes to 50% of infertility in couples. However, there are limited human spermatozoa proteomic studies. Firstly, the development of the mapping of the human spermatozoa was analyzed. The human spermatozoa have been used as a model for missing proteins. It has been shown that human spermatozoa are excellent sources for finding missing proteins. Y chromosome proteome mapping is led by Iran. However, it seems that it is extremely challenging to map the human spermatozoa Y chromosome proteins based on current mass spectrometry-based proteomics technology. Post-translation modifications [PTMs] of human spermatozoa proteome are the most unexplored area and currently the exact role of PTMs in male infertility is unknown. Additionally, the clinical human spermatozoa proteomic analysis, anno 2017 was done in this study
