ABSTRACT

The fermentation of 8 species Jelly fungi Tremella spp., traditionally utilized in folk medicine as precious material supplemented with chromium in cation form (Cr2(SO4)3) over a wide range of 50 -1000 ppm to show very low toxicity of Cr. The LG 50 value (limit of growth by 50%) was determined to be ca. 1000 ppm Cr. Under 100 ppm, Cr was not toxic for the yeast to grow. In the liquid medium with 50 ppm Cr added, yeasts of T. encephala grow well and accumulated Cr at considerably high levels (808, 520 and 480 ppm in dry biomass harvested after 5, 10, 15 days of stationary fermentation, respectively), as determined by Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis in the Nuclear Reactor of Dalat, Vietnam. The fermented biomass of Tremella fungi, enriched with Cr would be promising new preparations for treatments of diabetes

ABSTRACT

A minireview on current status in systematics of the genus Lentinula Pegler was presented addition of distinct collection of Cao Bang stain of shiitake from Vietnam, that were described as a new geographical race with morphologically specific characters intermediating between L. edodes and L. lateritia. Furthermore, non fertile hybrids (basidiosporeless lines) obtained by nonospore-crossing between Cao Bang strain and strains of l. edodes from Japan support so distinct differentiations, that Cao Bang shiitake would be suggested even at the rank of biologically distinct species

ABSTRACT

A minireview on pharmacology of Shiitake lentinula edodes (Berk.) Pegler = Lentinus edodes (Berk.) Sing. and a revision on its nomenclature for taxonomy were given to reveal the importance of biotechnology of Shiitake cultivations at large scales in VietNam to supply the precious material and foods.

ABSTRACT

A giant Lingzhi mushroom newly found in DaLat, Central Highland of South of Vietnam (alt. 1330m) was determined as a new species: Ganoderma dalatense Th¸m sp. nov., with laccate crust developed irregularly on the lower surface of the pilei (as chimeras on the hymenium surfaces) as a distinguished macrocharacter from other know Ganoderma species, with extraordinary sizes: 106 cm in length, up to 31 cm in thickness, 31kg in weight. This holotype specimen would be largest in Ganoderma in the world, recorded up to date. Detailed diagnosis was given and thoroughly discussed with related other taxa.

ABSTRACT

The Black mannentake Amauroderma elmerianum Murr. has been newly found and cultivated in §µ L¹t, ViÖt Nam on mixed substrates, supplemented with inorganic nitrogen (ammonium sulfate), traced with 15N (4% excess). The efficiency of utilization of inorganic N fertilizer is determined about 70%, while organic N derived form various components in substrates (branch and bean powder) is only 7%. The amount of N in inorganic fertilizer added is less than 15% of total N amount in the substrates. The application of N fertilizer in combination with organic components, rich in N in substrates for cultivation of Lingzhi fungi as a material medica with improved quality has been discussed, based on using newly suggested 15N tracer techniques

ABSTRACT

The squamule button mushroom Agaricus blazei Murrill was fruifully cultivated in Da Lat, VietNam, under similar procedure at large scales with white button mushroom A. bisporus, giving lower biological efficiency (biomass of fresh fruibodies harvested per unit of dry composts used). The prefectful development of fruibodies was described and a minireview on their medicine - food value was discussed
