ABSTRACT

Introduction: Isolation or maintenance of clean, visible, dry field is an absolute necessity for any dental or surgical procedure. Apart from improvement in visibility, accessibility, and appropriately directed isolation instrument should also allow operator to work simultaneously for long duration. Methods: We used readily available disposable 18 gauge needle which can be easily and snuggly attached to stainless steel suction cannula. This method/ attachment provided better accessibility with minimal hindrance, i.e. because of small size it allowed suctioning and instrumentation in the limited surgical field to proceed simultaneously which was never possible before by using other methods. This method can be used in various procedures (periapical surgeries, visualization and retrieval of fractured root pieces). Conclusions: Simultaneous visibility and accessibility is key goal of this technique and which can be used to improve patient care.

ABSTRACT

Reactive hyperplasias comprise a group of fibrous connective tissue lesions that commonly occur in oral mucosa secondary to injury. Peripheral fibroma is also a type of reactive hyperplasia. Peripheral fibroma is a reactive hyperplastic mass that occurs on the gingiva and is derived from connective tissue of the submucosa or periodontal ligament. It may occur at any age, although it does have a predilection for young adults. Females develop these lesions more commonly than do males. Here, we are presenting a case report of a child who is 6 years old and presented to us with a swelling in the lower anterior region which was providing discomfort to the child and also was obstructing the eruption pathway of the permanent central incisor in the region. The lesion was surgically excised.

ABSTRACT

Central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) is an uncommon benign intraosseous lesion of the jaws accounting for approximately 7% of all benign tumors of the jaws. The traditional treatment of CGCG is surgical removal. However, the extent of tissue removal ranges from simple curettage to en bloc resection and reconstruction. This article describes a massive yet nonaggressive type of central giant cell granuloma involving the body of the mandible in a 32 years old female with its surgical management.
