A velhice no olhar do outro: uma perspectiva do jovem sobre o que é ser velho / Old age in the gaze of other: the younger’sperspective about being old

Este artigo teve como objetivo discorrer sobre as imagens que os jovens fazem dos velhos, ou seja, como os jovens enxergam e encaram os idosos e o envelhecimento contemporâneo, contribuindo para a manutenção de uma imagem pré-estabelecida socialmente ou permitindo aos velhos recriarem e se apresentarem de modo mais singular. Conclui-se que, apesar de os idosos ainda serem vistos com mitos e preconceitos, está emergindo outro conceito de se viver a velhice, mais positivo e inclusivo.

This text intends to discuss about the different images that young people have about elderly people, it’s to know how young people see those elderly and face aging, contributing to keep the social image or promoting and allowing the elderly to present themselves in a different and in a particular way. The conclusion is that although elderly have being seeing with a lot of prejudice, a new way of living the aging is being created: a more positive and included way.
