ABSTRACT

CD46 is a membrane-bound complement regulatory protein (mCRP) possessing a regulatory role with the complement system. CD46 protects the host cells from damage by complement. Expression of CD46 is also highly maintained in many cancers, including bladder cancers, and thus functions as a receptor for many cancer therapeutic viruses. In this study we report a unique role of CD46 as a progression factor of cancer cells in bladder cancers. Resulting data from a DNA microarray using CD46-altered HT1376 bladder cancers demonstrated a pool of target genes, including complement C3  chain (C3), matrix Gla protein (MGP), AFAP-AS1, follicular dendritic cell secreted protein (FDCSP), MAM domain containing 2 (MAMDC2), gamma-aminobutyric acid A receptor pi (GABRP), transforming growth factor, beta-induced (TGFBI), a family of cytochrome P450 (CYP24A1), sialic acid binding Ig-like lectin 6 (SIGLEC6), metallothionein 1E (MT1E), and several members of cytokeratins. Subsequent studies using quantitative RT-PCR and Western blot analyses confirmed CD46-mediated regulation of C3, MGP, and keratin 13 (KRT13). MGP and KRT13 are known to be involved in cell migration and cancer cell metastasis. A cell migration assay demonstrated that CD46 enhanced migratory potential of bladder cancer cells. Taken all together, this report demonstrated that CD46 is generally overexpressed in bladder cancers and plays a unique role in the promotion of cancer cell migration. Further detailed studies are needed to be performed to clarify the action mechanism of CD46 and its application to cancer therapeutics.

ABSTRACT

Background: Human albumin was produced and used in many countries. Cohn's technique had been used to precipitate albumin from human plasma. This technique was easy and cheap and the quality of the product was good. In Vietnam, human albumin had to import, but the prices was very expensive. Vietnam was having good plasma in large quantity and high quality. That’s why research on production plasma albumin was essential.
", u"Objectives: This study aimed at using Cohn's technique improved by Drohan and Van - Aken to produce standard albumin from human plasma. Subjects and method: Human plasma detected VIII-factor was used for present study. Plasma ?albumin was precipitated by ethanol at low temperature and pH. The collected albumins have been liophilizated and storage at 40C. The quality and quantity of Albumin was evaluated by quantitative analysis and protein ?electrophoresis. Results: The 418g of albumin powder was produced from 16 liters of plasma detected F ?VIII. The quality of this albumin come up to standard (>95%) and quantity of albumin collected from one liter of this plasma was 26g. Conclusion: In the Vietnamese condition, the technique of Cohn can be used to produce standard albumin for treatment.
", u'

ABSTRACT

This study was carried out in 72 healthy adults of working age, non-smoking, and non-exposure to occupational carbon monooxide. The results showed that substances coming from factories did not pollute their indoor environment at home. The hemoglobin (Hb) contents of examined persons was within the normal range of 122-165 g/l. Average CarboxyHemoglobin (HbCO) was 0.789+/-0.382%, ranging 0.000 to 1.500%.

ABSTRACT

At the first step of studying about “the volume of cord blood” in Vietnamse, a total of 50 samples have been collected. We obtained some results: - The mean volume of cord blood was: 50.06 +/- 20,73ml. -The mean number of total mononuclear cells was 352.4 +/- 161.6 (x106). -Some cord blood colections had many total MNC as some larger cord blood harvests. So, it is our belief that total MNC numbers are more useful indicator of clinical utility than more sample volume.
