ABSTRACT

Objective@#To explore the relationship between childhood abuse and cyberbullying among college students and to provide theoretical support for early intervention of cyberbullying among college students.@*Methods@#A total of 3 850 sophomores and juniors from 6 universities in Shanxi Province, randomly selected by stratified cluster sampling method, were investigated by using the Questionnaire on Cyberbullying and the Chinese Version of the Child Abuse Questionnaire.@*Results@#Male students reported higher rates of sexual abuse, emotional neglect and physical neglect than female students(χ2=5.22, 4.39, 7.53 P<0.05). The child abuse report rate of college students whose parents divorced was higher than that of those whose parents were not divorced(χ2=86.80, 134.06, 130.18, 175.64, 118.46,P<0.05). In addition to physical neglect, childhood abuse rate of only children was higher than that of non-only children, with statistically significant differences(χ2=9.44, 12.44, 21.18, 21.26, all P<0.05). The scores of all factors and total scores of cyberbullying implemented by male students were higher than those by female students(t=9.35, 5.59, 5.83, 7.57,P<0.05); the scores of all factors and total scores of cyberbullying implemented by only-child students were higher than those by non-only-child students(t=2.79, 3.74, 4.78, 4.40,P<0.05); the scores of all factors and total scores of cyberbullying implemented by students whose parents were divorced were higher than those by students whose parents were not divorced, with statistically significant differences(t=6.99,6.78, 8.04,11.33, P<0.05). Multiple linear regression model showed that there was a positive correlation between the childhood abuse of college students and the implementation of cyberbullying, and regression coefficient differences of all factors were statistically significant(β=0.10, 0.11, 0.05, 10.08,0.06, P<0.05).@*Conclusion@#Childhood abuse experiences increase the risk of college students practicing cyberbullying.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective    To summarize and analyze the experience of subarterial ventricular septal defect (VSD) repaired with simple pulmonary artery approach. Methods    We retrospectively anlyzed the clinical data of 102 patients with subarterial VSD repaired with simple pulmonary artery approach in our hospital from August 2015 to October 2018. There were 67 males and 35 females at median age of 3 years (ranging 4 months to 49 years). Results    The median operation time was 82 (54-136) min. Median cardiopulmonary bypass time was 36 (21-62) min. The median aortic cross-clamping time was 13 (7-32) min. Thirty two patients of tracheal intubation were removed from the fast-track operating room immediately after surgery. Of the 102 patients, 67 patients underwent a small incision in the lower sternum. The median postoperative ICU stay time was 26 (13-36) h. There was no planned reoperations and no early death. Conclusion    Simple pulmonary artery approach for subarterial ventricular septal defect repair with less intracardiac procedures, short operation time, less trauma, quick postoperative recovery has certain advantages in the application of specific groups.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To explore the relationship between cyberbullying and depression in college students, and to provide a scientific basis for the prevention of cyberbullying.@*Methods@#A total of 3 914 college students from 6 universities in Shanxi Province were selected as research objects. The students’ cyberbullying behavior scale and depression self-rating scale were used to investigate the students.@*Results@#The overall reported rate of cyberbullying among college students was 17.4%. Boys who suffered from online verbal bullying and online fraud scored higher than girls. Students whose parents divorced scored higher than those whose parents did not divorce in all dimensions of cyber-bullying. There was a statistically significant difference in the overall scores of students with different degrees of education and time spent online( P <0.05). Depression was reported in 15.6% of participants. The depression scores of female students were higher than that of male students.College students whose parents were divorced had higher depression scores than those whose parents were not divorced.There were statistically significant differences in depression scores among college students with different fathers’ education levels and different time spent online every day( t / F =2.05, 6.64, 3.91 , 19.52, P <0.05). Pearson correlation analysis showed that online speech bullying, online fraud and identity concealment bullying were positively correlated with depression scores( r s =0.40, 0.36, 0.46, P <0.01). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that three forms of cyberbullying were risk factors for the increase of depression in college students( β =0.89, 0.38, 0.38, P <0.01).@*Conclusion@#Cyber-bullying is one of the risk factors for increasing the severity of depression among college students.Strengthening the management of Internet use, promotion college students’ interpersonal conununication and active cooperating between society, school and family are great significance to reduce the occurrence of cyberbullying.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To explore the relationship between childhood maltreatment and suicide ideation of college students,so as to provide basis for physical and mental health of college students.@*Methods@#Students from 6 universities in Shanxi Province(3 854 college students provided eligible questionniare for childhood abuse and 3 882 for suicidal ideation) were selected by multi-stage random cluster sampling from May to July 2018, the Chinese Version of the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire and the Self-rating Idea of Suicide Scale were used in the survey.@*Results@#Of all subjects,42.4% had at least one kind of abuse experience in childhood and 3.9% had suicidal ideation in the past week. By chi square test,the detection rate of suicidal ideation of college students who suffered physical abuse,emotional abuse,sexual abuse,physical neglect,emotional neglect in childhood was higher than that of college students without maltreatment (χ2=13.78,12.97,17.10,56.56,66.58,P<0.01);Spearman correlation analysis showed that there was a positive correlation between each type of maltreatment in childhood and college students’ suicidal ideation(r=0.06,0.06,0.07,0.12,0.13,P<0.01);Multivariate Logistic regression model found that after controlling other influencing factors,physical neglect and emotional neglect in childhood were independent risk factors for suicide ideation of college students (OR=2.18,2.07,P<0.05).@*Conclusion@#Physical neglect and emotional neglect in childhood can increase the risk of college students’ suicidal ideation. Paying enough attention and care to them in early childhood may help to prevent their suicidal ideation in adulthood.

ABSTRACT

Cholesterol crystal embolism is a rare and easily overlooked cause of colonic ischemia. The gastrointestinal tract is the third most common organ system affected by cholesterol emboli, second only to kidney and skin. Here we present a catastrophic case of gastrointestinal cholesterol crystal embolism leading to extensive post-operative bowel infarction and ultimately death. For a practicing pathologist, careful attention to the vessels of any ischemic bowel and recognition of the subtle but distinct angular imprint of cholesterol crystals facilitates prompt identification of the atheroemboli. In some cases, early identification may help mitigate further tissue damage. In more acute and severe cases, identification of the cholesterol crystal emboli may be important primarily for documentation of procedural complications.

ABSTRACT

@#Congenital heart disease refers to the structural or functional abnormality of the macrovascular in the heart or thoracic cavity caused by the failure of the formation of the heart and large blood vessels during the embryonic development or the abnormal closure of the heart or the closure of the channel after birth. In the past few years, a new and broader definition of structural heart disease has been gradually proposed. Structural heart disease narrowly refers to the pathological and physiological changes of the heart caused by abnormal anatomical structures in the heart, including congenital heart disease. A few decades ago, congenital heart disease was considered as a pediatric disease, because most patients with severe lesions rarely survive to adulthood. Due to recent advances in echocardiography, anesthesia, intensive care, percutaneous intervention, especially cardiac surgery in recent decades, the treatment and intervention strategies for congenital heart disease in children have been greatly improved, a fatal defect in childhood can now be successfully repaired or alleviated. Because of these successes, more than 90% of congenital heart disease patients are expected to survive to adulthood, which has led to emerge a new population: adult patients with congenital heart disease. Adult congenital heart disease patients are different from children. Pulmonary hypertension leads to right heart failure and eventually progresses to whole heart failure. The appearance of Eisenmenger syndrome leads to severe cyanosis and worsening of the disease. At present, the continuous development of mechanical assisted circulation support devices and heart or cardiopulmonary transplantation technology has increased the survival rate of end-stage adult congenital heart disease patients with heart failure. The high incidence of cardiovascular events in pregnant patients requires comprehensive multidisciplinary team care and early coordination planning for delivery, including early counseling for pregnancy-related risks, close monitoring of cardiac function and regular scan of fetal assessment. The prenatal and postpartum integrated diagnosis and treatment model and the development of intrauterine treatment technology reduce the incidence of congenital heart disease in adults from the source through fetal intervention. Other complications such as arrhythmia, infective endocarditis, cerebrovascular accidents, and other medical underlying metabolic diseases also challenge future diagnosis and treatment. The incidence and epidemiology of adult congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension and end-stage heart failure complications, as well as prenatal and postpartum integrated diagnosis and treatment and intrauterine treatment are summarized in this review.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the protective effects and potential mechanisms of tea polyphenols intervention on excess alcohol intake induced liver injury in rats. This study established the animal model of chronic liver injury rats induced by alcohol. Our results will provide experimental evidence for the effects of tea polyphenol on chronic alcoholic liver injury.@*METHODS@#Alcohol-induced liver injury rat models were established, and the tea polyphenols intervention was performed in the meantime. After 8 weeks, rats were anesthetized, and visceral fat and liver samples were separated, weighted and stored. Visceral fat content was evaluated in fat/body weight ratio. Liver lipid accumulation was assessed by liver index and the result of Oil Red O staining. Hepatic superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, malondialdehyde (MDA) content, total antioxidant capacity assay (T-AOC) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity were detected. And fatty acid translocase (FAT/CD36) protein level in liver was detected.@*RESULTS@#Compared with the control group rats, the fat/body weight ratio, SOD/MDA, T-AOC and GSH-Px activity of chronic liver injury rats were decreased significantly (<0.05,<0.01). Meanwhile the liver index, FAT/CD36 protein level and lipid deposition in liver of chronic liver injury rats were increased (<0.01). Compared with chronic liver injury rats, the tea polyphenols intervention increased fat/body weight ratio (<0.05), and significantly increased SOD/MDA, T-AOC and GSH-Px activity (<0.01). Meanwhile the tea polyphenols intervention reduced liver index (<0.01), FAT/CD36 protein level (<0.01) and lipid deposition in liver.@*CONCLUSIONS@#Tea polyphenols intervention can improve lipid deposition and oxidative stress in chronic alcoholic liver, which is concurrent with decreased FAT/CD36 protein expression on the hepatocyte membrane.

ABSTRACT

Background & objectives: angiotensin II receptor type 1 (AaT1) is known to be involved in the pathogenesis of hypertension. tThis study was undertaken to explore the effect of active immunization against AaT1 receptor on blood pressure and small artery remodelling in spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR). Methods: Male SHR and Wistar rats aged two months were actively immunized with different peptides (AaTR12185、AaTR10014 and AaTR12181) corresponding to particular sequences of rat receptor, while another SHR group was given losartan (10 mg/kg/day) orally once a day. Aanti-AaT1 receptor antibodies were detected by ELISAa and blood pressure was measured. The effect of the antibodies on the artery and vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) proliferation was studied. Results: all immunized animals produced antibodies against the particular peptides. The systolic blood pressure was decreased in the SHR immunized with peptide-AaTR12181 compared with the control. However, no changes were observed in the SHR immunized with other two peptides. The Wistar rats immunized with the three peptides did not show any changes in blood pressure. The media/lumen area ratio of the mesenteric artery was reduced in SHR immunized with and similar to that of the SHR treated with losartan. The antibody from SHR immunized with AaTR12181 had no effect on the proliferation of VSMC. But it could inhibit the proliferation caused by angiotensin II and its effect at the titre of 1:40 was similar to that of 1μmol/l losartan. Interpretation & conclusions: Our findings demonstrated that the antibody from SHR immunized with AaTR12181 had the effect of reducing blood pressure and target organ protection similar to losartan. Aactive immunization against AaT1 receptor may be a promising strategy in future for the treatment of hypertension.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To analyze the electrical activity property changes in nucleus accumbens (NAc) of heroin-induced conditioned place preference (CPP) rats during different stages of heroin dependence and to explore NAc's roles in the formation of drug dependence.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Recording electrodes were bilaterally embedded into the NAcs of rats with the aid of stereotaxic apparatus, followed by establishment of heroin-dependent rat model. The NAc electrical activity during 3 different stages of heroin dependence, including heroin pre-exposure, immediate post-exposure and heroin withdrawal, were respectively recorded using EEG wireless telemetry techniques. The frequency distribution (ranging from 0.5 to 30 Hz) and the amplitude of NAc electrical activity were analyzed and measured.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Heroin-dependent rat models were successfully established and their withdrawal symptoms were evident. All rats showed a conditioned place preference (CPP) for the white box after 5-10 days of heroin-exposure, and displayed a maximum withdrawal symptoms on 2d after heroin- withdrawal. During all statges of heroin-dependence, the NAc electrical activity contained the highest proportion of delta rhythm and the lowest proportion of alpha2 rhythm. The discharge frequence band was similar across different stages. There was a significantly increased ratio of low-frequency discharges (delta rhythm) and decreased ratio of high-frequency discharges (beta rhythm) in NAc of rats during the immediate post- heroin exposure stage when compared with that during pre-exposure and heroin withdrawal stages. During the withdrawal stage, the ratio of at rhythm was significantly lower than during pre- and post-heroin exposure stages (P < 0.01). Further, the mean discharge amplitude in NAcs during immediate post-exposure and withdrawal stages was significantly increased relative to pre-exposure stage. However, the mean discharge amplitude during heroin withdrawal stage was significantly lower than during immediate post-exposure stage.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The electrical activity properties in rat NAcs showed a significant change during different stages of heroin-dependence, which suggested that neuronal activities in NAcs might contribute to the modulation of drug-dependence.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVES</b>To investigate a new targeting mechanical arm for CT-based navigated percutaneous fixation of pelvic fractures, and to evaluate the safety and efficiency of the procedures.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Using CT-based 3D navigation software combined with targeting mechanical arm, percutaneous insertion of pelvic models (3 dry human cadaver pelvic skeletons and 5 plastic Sybone pelvic models) were performed, 8 pelvic models allowed percutaneous cannulated screw insertion of both S-I joint (2 S-I screws placement for each side, total 32 screws in this experiment) and both superior ramus (1 ramus medullary screw placement for each side, total 16 screws in this experiment). Percutaneous insertion of pelvic models (4 dry human cadaver pelvic skeletons and 4 plastic Sybone pelvic models, 1 S-I screws and 1 ramus medullary scre placement for each side, 32 screws in this experiment) were performed using fluoro-navigation system (Stryker, USA). Time necessary for every screw insertion were recorded. Accuracy of screw placement was assessed using C-arm imaging and direct eyes inspecting. The time and accuracy of the two methods were compared.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The time required for the CT-based 3D navigation procedure (3.6 ± 1.2) min was significantly less than using the targeting mechanical arm compared to drilling freehand with navigation (9.1 ± 0.8) min (t = 2.50, P < 0.01). There was no significant difference in accuracy between the two methods.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>CT-based 3D navigation software combined with targeting mechanical arm should be potential to apply percutaneous sacroiliac screwing for pelvic fractures with more accurate and more reliable.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>BACKGROUND</b>Computer-assisted procedures have recently been introduced for navigated femoral neck screw placement. Currently there is little information available regarding accuracy and efficiency of the different navigated procedures. The aim of this study was to compare two fluoroscopic navigation tracking technologies, a novel bi-planar robot navigation and standardized optoelectronic navigation, versus standard freehand fluoroscopic insertion in a Synbone hip model.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Eighteen fixed Synbone hip models were divided into 3 groups. C-arm navigated cannulated screws (AO-ASIF, diameter 7.3 mm) were inserted using freehand targeting (control group). A novel bi-planar robot system (TINAV, GD2000) and an optoelectronic system (Stryker OTS Navigation System) were used for the navigated procedures (robot group and optoelectronic group). Accuracy was measured using radiographic evaluation including the measurement of screw parallelism and decentralization, and joint penetration. To evaluate the efficiency, the number of guidewire passes, operative time and fluoroscopic images taken were noted.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The two computer-assisted systems provided significantly improved accuracy compared to the freehand technique. Each of the parameters, including guidewire passes and number of fluoroscopy images, was significantly lower when using the computer-assisted systems than for freehand-unguided insertion (P <0.05), but operative time was significantly shorter when using freehand-unguided insertion than for the computer-assisted systems (P <0.05). Accuracy, operative time and number of fluoroscopy images taken were similar among the two navigated groups (P >0.05), but guidewire passes in the robot group were significantly less than in the optoelectronic group (P <0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Both bi-planar robot navigation and optoelectronic navigation were similarly accurate and have the potential to improve accuracy and reduce radiation for freehand fluoroscopic targeting for insertion of cannulated screws in femoral neck fractures. Guidewire passes in the robot group were significantly less than in the optoelectronic group. However, both navigated procedures were associated with time-consuming registration and high rates of failed matching procedures.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To assess the clinical usefulness, accuracy, and safety of tele-manipulation for frameless stereotactic surgery using the CAS-R-5 robot system.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>We prospectively evaluated 32 patients underwent tele-manipulation of frameless stereotactic operations from Sep. 2005 to Sep. 2006. Tele-manipulations were performed via a digital data network by a neurosurgeon in Beijing while the patients were located in Yan'an. The distance is 1300 kilometers away. The accuracy of location and improvement of symptom were observed after operation. The period of follow-up was from 3 to 14 months (the average was 12 months).</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The surgical operations in 32 cases were successful. Remote fiducial registration was performed with a mean accuracy of 1. 50 mm and the standard difference were 0.32 mm between the planned and actual target. There were no complications.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Diagnosis and treatment for intracranial disease by tele-manipulation frameless stereotactic surgeries are reliable and safe.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To evaluate the clinical feasibility and effect of the computer-assisted auto-frame navigation system for distal locking of tibial intramedullary nails.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The hardware components of the system included a PC computer with a monitor, auto mechanical stereotactical localization cubic frame, foot holder and localization operative apparatus. Special navigation software can be used for registration of X-ray fluoroscopic images and real-time controlling navigation of tools. Twenty-one cases of close tibial and fibular fractures were treated with closed intramedullary nailing, 6 of which involved in middle third, 12 in middle and lower third, 3 in lower third. C-arm alignment and registration time, fluoroscopic time and drilling time involved in the locking procedure were recorded. The size of unreamed or reamed tibial nails ranged from 8/300-11/330.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>All distal holes except 1 were locked successfully. In 9 of 41 locked holes (21.95%), the drill bit touched the canal of locking hole without damage of the nail and clinical consequences. The fluoroscopy time per pair of screws was 2.23+/-0.31 s.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>The computer-assisted auto-frame navigation system for distal locking is well designed, easy to operate and do not need additional instruments during the procedure. The developed system enables the physician to precisely navigate surgical instruments throughout the anatomy using just a few computer-calibrated radiographic images. The total time of X-ray exposure per procedure can be significantly reduced.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To test the safety and accuracy of the computer-assisted orthopaedic system for distal locking of intramedullary nails and apply it to internal fixation with intramedullary nails in the lower limb.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>According to the theory of mechanical arms stereotactic localization in computer-assisted orthopaedic surgery (CAOS), we design a CAOS system for distal locking of intramedullary nails. The system comprised 2 independent modules: computer-assisted imaging and registration workstation; mechanical stereotactic framework. Ten plastic tibia models, 20 plastic femur models (Synbone AG, Malans, Switzerland) and 6 human cadaver lower limbs were randomly divided into 2 groups undergoing internal fixation with intramedullary nails (Orthofix, Germany). The first group (CAOS group with 5 plastic tibia models, 10 plastic femur models, 6 human cadaver tibia, 6 human cadaver femur; each nail had 2 holes, and 2 distal locking screws were inserted in each bone, which gave a total number of 54 holes) used a computer-assisted orthopaedic system, the second group (CONTROL GROUP is the same as CAOS group) used Orthofix mechanical targeting device for distal locking. Comparison between 2 groups was made in radiation exposure time, operating time, percentage of correctly placed screws.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>CAOS group: operating time was (4.44 +/- 2.99) min; radiation exposure time was (1.16 +/- 0.38) min; correctly placed screws rate was (100 +/- 0)%.</p><p><b>CONTROL GROUP</b>operating time was (10.42 +/- 4.18) min; radiation exposure time was (4.71 +/- 3.86) min; correctly placed screws rate was (94.44 +/- 0.36)%. Operating time and radiation exposure time in CAOS group were significantly shorter than those in control group (P < 0.05), no differences were found between 2 groups in relation to the percentage of correctly placed screws.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>By using CAOS system for distal locking of intramedullary nails, the locking holes can be drilled accurately and safely. Radiation exposure significantly reduced.</p>
