ABSTRACT

Se efectuó una intervención terapéutica en 102 pacientes atendidos en el Servicio de Hemodiálisis y Nefrología del Centro Hospitalario Universitario Nacional Yalgado Ouedraogo de Burkina Faso, desde agosto de 2007 hasta igual mes de 2008, a fin de evaluar la efectividad de la digitopuntura en una población con hipertensión arterial y enfermedad renal crónica en estadios predialítico y dialítico. En la casuística predominaron las personas mayores de 40 años, el sexo masculino y la hipertensión arterial como primera causa de enfermedad renal crónica. La práctica de esta técnica acupuntural resultó efectiva en 87,26 por ciento de la serie, no solo por sus beneficios clínicos, sino por la ausencia de reacciones adversas.


A therapeutic intervention was carried out in 102 patients assisted at the Hemodialysis and Nephrology Service from Yalgado Ouedraogo National Hospital University Center in Burkina Faso, from August, 2007 to the same month of 2008, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of digitopuncture in a population with hypertension and chronic renal disease before and during the dialysis process. Patients older than 40 year-old, male sex and hypertension prevailed as first causes of chronic renal disease. The practice of this acupuncture technique was effective in 87,26 percent of the series, not only for its clinical benefits, but also for the absence of adverse reactions.
