ABSTRACT

Research randomly 1132 adults from ≥18 years old who living in North Central Coastal and South Central Coastal areas by deviding period method. The objects were examines dental caries situation and periodontal diseases acording to assement method of WHO. Result: The percentage of adults who had dental caries is high, from 93.2% to 97.8%. The DMFT index increases across the age groups. The situation of dental caries in adults of the North Central Coast is higher than in the South Central Coast. Periodontal diseases: The percentage of adults who had gingivitis and periodontitis is high, from 92.45t-100%. The percentage of adults at age 45 and the older who had periodontal pocket is high, from 30.2% to 35.6%. The percentage of people who had acceptable gingival health is very low, and lower than 10%. Oral health situation of community is not get targets of EEC and of WHO.

ABSTRACT

The study is a survey on oro-dental diseases in 1132 children who were over 6 years old and living in the North Central Coastal and South Central Coastal areas. The subjects were divided into 4 age groups: 6-8, 9-11, 12-14 and 15-17. Results: The percentage of children 6-8 years old with caries in the primary dentition was high, from 83.7% to 91.6%. The percentage of children who had caries in the permanent dentition increased across the age groups. The percentage of children who had not caries was much more lower than WHO’s standard. In all age groups, the percentage of children in the South Central Coast who had dental caries was higher than children in the North Central Coast. The percentage of children 6-14 years old with gingivitis in the South Central Coast was higher than in the North Central Coast

ABSTRACT

A cross – sectional survey on dental caries in 3181 Vietnamese adults, who are over 18 year olds and live in 7 geographic areas of Vietnam, showed that the percentage of Vietnamese adults who had dental caries is high. The percentage of caries and the DMFT index increase across the age groups. There is no difference in caries percentage between male and female but it is different between urban population and rural population, in the same age group urban population had more caries experience than rural population. The percentage of filling teeth is very low, from 1.49% to 6.38% depending on age groups. The percentage of missing teeth due to untreated is very high and increase across age groups

ABSTRACT

The study is a cross-sectional survey on the situation of dental caries in the population living in the Red river delta and in the Mekong river delta. The result of the study indicated that: 1. In both areas, the percentage of primary dentition is very high. The percentage of caries in the permanent dentition and DMFT index increases a cross the age groups in both areas. In the Mekong river delta, the situation of caries in children is more serious. 2. The percentage of adults who had dental caries is very high in both areas and the DMFT index in Mekong river delta is higher. 3. Almost all children 6-14 years old who had dental caries are untreated in both areas. In other groups, the percentage of filling teeth is higher but it is still in very low level and also lower than 8% for all age groups

ABSTRACT

84,4% of children aged 6-8 years old sulfered from caries of milk tooth. In average, each subject of thin aged had got 5,07 milk teeth experienced by caries and 12,98 tooth surfaces were destroyed by caries. The incidence of this dental condition was different from geographic areas. In south coast area in Central Viet Nam and MeKong delta, the incidence was higher than other areas and higher than 90% and a very low percentage was treated, almost no significance, especially in North mountain area, north coast and south coast of Central Viet Nam central Highland.

ABSTRACT

2688 primary school pupils and sencondary school children in the whole of the country, aged 6-11 years old, living in mountain, plain, central and northern areas, southern. A high prevalence of gingivitis inflammation of 42,7- 71,4% was concluded in all age groups, higher in rural area than in urban and increasing with the age. There fore the programme of dental oral care for school children in the whole of country, including oral hygiene education must be promoted.
