ABSTRACT
Resumo As ocupações são ações realizadas durante a vida, que possuem forma, propósito e significado. O fato de ter sido submetido a uma cirurgia cardíaca, assim como ao processo de pós-operatório, pode influenciar no engajamento dessas ocupações. A fim de investigar essa questão, o estudo buscou compreender como se apresentam as ocupações de pessoas no pós-operatório de cirurgia cardíaca. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, de caráter descritivo, ancorada na Ciência Ocupacional, sendo realizada em uma unidade de assistência em fisioterapia e terapia ocupacional, tendo como participantes 25 pessoas que se encontravam no pós-operatório de cirurgia cardíaca. Os resultados revelaram alterações em relação à forma, no propósito e significado das ocupações. Houve o seu afastamento ou modificação, seguidos da insatisfação quanto à sua realização, assim como a necessidade de se engajar em ocupações significativas. A pesquisa contribuiu para a construção de conhecimento científico sobre as ocupações de pessoas no pós-operatório cardíaco, destacando que esse processo é único e pode repercutir de diversas formas nas ocupações. Assim, ressalta-se sobre a importância da terapia ocupacional dentro desse contexto por possibilitar uma visão ampliada dessas pessoas, nos seus aspectos físicos, psíquicos, sociais e também ocupacionais.
Abstract Occupations are actions carried out during life, which have form, purpose, and meaning. Having undergone cardiac surgery as well as the post-operative process can influence the engagement of these occupations. To investigate this issue, the study sought to understand how the occupations of people in the postoperative period of cardiac surgery are presented. This is qualitative, descriptive research, anchored in Occupational Science, carried out in an assistance unit in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, with participants as twenty-five people who were in the postoperative period of cardiac surgery. The results revealed changes in the form, purpose, and meaning of the occupations. There was withdrawal or modification of these, followed by dissatisfaction with their performance, as well as the need to engage in significant occupations. The research contributed to the construction of scientific knowledge about the occupations of people in the cardiac postoperative period, highlighting that this process is unique and can have repercussions in different ways on occupations. Thus, it is emphasized on the importance of Occupational Therapy within this context as it allows an expanded view of these people, in their physical, psychological, social, and also occupational aspects.
