ABSTRACT

Gastroesophageal reflux disease is a common disease, with medical or surgical well established therapy. The surgical therapy (Nissen fundoplicature) involves some perieoperatively risks, and in the long term, the use of antisecretory therapy reachs up to 60 percent. Human trials in endoscopic therapy of GERD are promissory. The options under study are radiofrequency application in GE junction, biopolymer cardias injection and endoscopic suturing system (gastroplicature). These techniques are less invasive, have low complication rates but have to be applied in selective cases
