ABSTRACT

Twenty one cases of the humeral shaft were treated operatively by an open reduction and internal fixation by plate and screws in El-Monoufia University Hospital. Narrow dynamic compression plate was used in fixation of eighteen cases while rounded hole plate was used in fixation of three cases. Radial nerve injury was associated with humeral shaft fracture in 2 cases. All patients evaluated postoperatively for rate of union, shoulder motion and elbow motion. The results were excellent in 90% of cases and poor in 10% of cases due to severely comminuted fracture and radial nerve injury

In this study 8 cases of tongue type intra-articular fractures of the calcaneus were treated by closed reduction and fixation by Essex- Lopresti technique. They all were males, with age ranged from 25-50 years [mean 30 years]. The follow up period after union ranged from 6 months to 1 year [mean 9 months]. The main presenting complaint was anterior knee pain. Thorough clinical, radiological and arthroscopic examination was done for every case and then percutaneous lateral retinacular release of the patella was done. This study showed the accuracy of patellar tilt angle in the diagnosis of patellar malalignment
