ABSTRACT

Objective There are various researches involved in p53 gene. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between histological classification of early well differentiated gastric carcinoma and gene p53 with special immunohistochemical staining. Methods Fifty excision samples of early well differentiated gastric carcinoma were fixed by formaldehyde and divided into six paraffin sections, every slice being 3 ?m thick with routine HE staining and special immunohistochemical staining. Results Of the 50 samples of early well differentiated gastric carcinoma, p53 gene staining was positive in 42.0%, in which 4 cases were gastric type carcinoma(including 2 pyloric mucosal type and 2 foveolar type) with p53 gene positivity rate 50.0%, 27 cases were intestinal type carcinoma(including 11 complete intestinal type and 16 incomplete intestinal type) with p53 gene positivity rate 44.4%, 18 cases were compound type carcinoma(11 type Ⅰ and 7 type Ⅱ) with p53 positivity rate 38.9%, and one case was unclassified type carcinoma with negative p53 staining. Conclusions There is no relationship between the histological classification of early well differentiated gastric carcinoma and the expression of p53 protein.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

There is evidence that DNA quantization and histopathological classification of breast cancer may be useful for its therapeutic management. DNA flow cytometry clinical and anatomopathological features of 60 paraffin embedded primary breast cancer tissue samples were studied. The aneuploidy percentage was 67 per cent . There was a correlation between DNA index and degree of cellular pleomorphism, degree of diferentiation and the fraction of cells in S phases. Likewisw a correlation was found between the degree of cellular pleomorphism and the mitotic index. DNA cytophotometry was useful to solve cases of difficult diagnosis with flow between aneuploidy, percentage of cells in phase S, degree of cellular atypia and mitotic degree with clinical stage, degree of lymph node involvement, tumoral size or age. It is suggested that these variables may have an independent behavior

ABSTRACT
