ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the clinical effect of suprapubic small cut method combined with transurethral resection prostate(TURP) on the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) complicated with bladder stones. Methods Sixty patients with BPH complicated with bladder stones ≥ 3 cm in the People's Hospital of Futian Affiliated to Guangdong Medical College from January 2013 to September 2014 were selected as the study group, and another 60 patients with BPH complicated with bladder stones<3 cm during the same period were selected as the control group. The cases in the study group were treated with suprapubic small cut method combined with TURP,and the cases in control group were treated with transurethral method combined with TURP.The intraoperative indicators (including the time used for crushed stone, total operation time, blood loss, conversion to laparotomy, blood transfusion and bladder perforation),residual bladder stones and complications of postoperative were compared. Results The operations of the two groups of patients were successfully, and there was no conversion to laparotomy and either bladder perforation. The stone removal time and total operative time of patients of the study group were shorter than of the control group, the difference was statistically significant((12.20±3.55) min vs.(24.05±7.68) min,(62.31± 10.49) min vs.(82.46± 16.75)min;t =10.849,7.897;P<0.001).The intraoperative blood loss and the cases of blood transfusion of patients of the study group were less than the control group, but the prevalence of urinary tract infection were higher(6vs.4),but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Residual stones were more commonly in the control group than in the study group (study group:0,control group:6 cases),the difference was statistically significant(x2 =6.316,P=0.012).Conclusion BPH complicated with bladder stones can be treated by the suprapubic small cut method combined with TURP or transurethral method combined with TURP,but suprapubic small cut method combined with TURP is safer and more effective, which is worthy of popularization and application in clinic.

ABSTRACT

Objective We tried to observe the effects of Chinese herb fumigation and washing combined with electromyographic biofeedback on stroke patients with muscle cramp on limbs. Methods 84 patients who had muscle cramp on limbs were selected and divided into two groups randomly, namely the intervention group and the control group and both groups had 42 stroke patients. The intervention group was treated with routine treatment,Chinese herbal fumigation and washing and electromyographic biofeedback treatment. The control group received only routine treatment and electromyographic biofeedback treatment. We had compared and analyzed the Ashworth Spasticity Scale and the Daily Life Abihty Score (Barthel index) of the two groups at the time of the pre therapy, two weeks after the treatment and at the end of the treatment(after four weeks),respectively. Results There were no significant differences between the two groups in Barthel index, however, there were significant differences in Ashworth Spasticity Scale scores between the two groups four weeks after treatment,t=-3.84,P < 0.05.Conclusions The effect of Chinese herb fumigation and washing combining with the electromyo-graphic biofeedback treatment is better than usage of the electromyographic biofeedback treatment alone on stroke patients with muscle cramp on limbs.

ABSTRACT

Dendrobium officinale is a kind of precious Chinese herbal medicine, which has good effects on the anti-aging, antineoplastic, and blood glucose reducing treatment. It has been listed in the top of “Nine Magic Herbs”, with significant cultural features of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Planting, processing, and cultural base construction of Dendrobium officinale in Hunan Province have obtained great achievements. Further combination of Dendrobium officinale with TCM culture will develop a series portable and convenient tourism products with the features of wide taking habits and large intended population. The planting of Dendrobium officinale should be integrated with ecofallow organically; the construction of science museums about Dendrobium officinale should be improved; the modern view on health maintenance “Health maintenance should focus on Yin nourishment” should be included in TCM cultural tourism in Hunan Province. All of these can improve the potential of tourism product development, meet the living requirements of modern people, and drive the development of tourist industry in Hunan Province.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the relationship between HBV genotypes and YMDD motif mutations or BCP mutations in Xiangtan of Hunan Province. Methods HBV genotypes, YMDD motif mutations and BCP mutations were analyzed in 952 HBV infected patients. Results HBV genotyping showed that 698 HBV type B patients and 115 HBV type C patients accounted for 73.32% and 12.08% respectively of all the participants. The rest 139( 14.60% )were genotype B and C mixed infection( B + C ). The analysis of YMDD motif mutations showed that 844 YMDD wild-type which accounted for 88.66% of all the subjects and the remainder were YMDD mutation types, of which 54( 5.67% ) carried YVDD, 53( 5.57% ) YIDD,and 1 YVDD and YIDD mixed infection. Basic Core Promoter mutations showed that 1762A/1764G ( wild type )accounted for 70.59% and 1762T/1764A( mutant ) accounted for 19.75%. The rest 92 patients were 1762T/1764A and 1762A/1764G mixed infection. This study showed no significant difference in the rate of YMDD mutation( 10.04% vs 10.43% ,χ2 =0.017,P>0.05 ) ,but a significant difference in the types of YMDD mutation(χ2 = 4.836, P < 0.05 )between HBV types B and C. The YVDD mutation was more commonly seen in genotype C( 9.57% ) than in genotype B( 5.88% ). The BCP mutation rate showed a significant difference( 27.36% vs 46.09%, χ2 = 16.478, P < 0.01 ). Genotype C was more frequent than genotype B. The BCP mutation rate showed no significant difference between YMDD Wild-type and YMDD mutation types( 28.67% vs 35.51%, χ2 = 2.139, P > 0.05 ), but most of BCP mutations happened in YVDD mutant type( 61.11% ). Conclusions ( 1 ) The predominant HBV genotypes in Xiangtan were genotype B and genotype C, the major genotype was type B, which display the characteristics of epidemiology in Southern China. ( 2 ) Determination of HBV genotypes before lamivudine therapy was probably not an important pretreatment investigation to predict antiviral responses. ( 3 ) Detection of HBV genotypes, YMDD motif mutations and BCP mutations will contribute to the correct evaluation of prognosis and timely proper management of HBV patients.
