ABSTRACT

Objective@#To describe the current status of the prevalence of co-morbid myopia and obesity among 7-18 years students in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 2021 and to analyze the moderating effect of lifestyle in this association ,so as to provide scientific basis for the establishment of the mechanism of Co-morbidity,Shared Etiology, and Shared Prevention of common diseases in children and adolescents.@*Methods@#A total of 139 630 primary and secondary school students aged 7-18 years from Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region were selected by stratified random cluster sampling method in September,2021. Myopia was determined using distance visual acuity examination and refractive error examination, and obesity was determined according to the BMI classification criteria for overweight, obesity screening of Chinese school age children and adolescents. Used a questionnaire, healthy lifestyles were determined according to the American Heart Association s Healthy Lifestyle Score by totaling the six scores for smoking, alcohol consumption, diet, exercise, screen time, and sleep duration. The χ 2 test was used to compare the association between group differences in the co-morbidity rate of myopia and obesity. The multivariable Logistic regression model was used to explore the influencing factors of the co-morbidity of myopia and obesity, and the stratified analysis was used to analyze the moderating effect of lifestyles on the prevalence of the co-morbidity.@*Results@#The prevalence of myopia and obesity co-morbidity among students aged 7-18 years old in the Inner Mongolia Autonmous Region in 2021 was 13.7%, higher among boys than girls ( 15.5 % vs. 11.8%), higher among those aged 10-12 years old than 7-9,13-15,and 16-18 years old (14.7%,13.7%, 13.3%, 12.0%), higher among other ethnic minorities than Han Chinese and Mongolians (15.3%, 14.0%, 12.5%), higher in urban areas than that in suburban areas(15.3%, 13.0%), and middle economic level tracts were higher than poor and good tracts (14.8%, 12.9 %, 12.6%) ( χ 2=392.37,115.73,62.80,119.02,121.60, P <0.05). Multivariable Logistic regression modeling showed that unhealthy lifestyles ( OR=1.24, 95%CI=1.19-1.29 ) and middle level of lifestyle score ( OR=1.15, 95%CI=1.10-1.19 ) students had higher prevalence of co-morbidity, and the results were statistically significant among both boys and girls, the age groups of 10- 12, 13-15, and 16-18 years old, as well as the Han and Mongolian ethnic groups (all P <0.05).@*Conclusion@#In 2021, the current situation of myopia and obesity co-morbidity and unhealthy lifestyles among primary and secondary school students in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region are not optimistic.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical significance of monitoring the renal pelvic pressure( RPP) and regulating the manual perfusion pressure in flexible ureteroscope holmium laser lithotripsy. Methods A total of 189 patients with upper urinary tract calculi treated by RIRS in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed from August 2014 to August 2017. The renal pelvic pressure was monitored during RIRS in 136 cases( monitored group) whereas no monitoring occurred in the rest 53 cases( unmonitored group) . The monitored group was divided into two sub-groups of 49 cases named high-pressure group(the cumulative time of renal pelvis pressure upon 40 cmH2O≥1 min) and 87 ca-ses named low-pressure group respectively. The morbidity of postoperative fever ( T≥38. 5℃) was evaluated statistically between monitored group and unmonitored group, meanwhile between high-pressure group and low-pressure group. Results Postoperative fever did not correlate to age, sex, involved kidney, and postoperative urinary tract infection. Whether renal pelvic pressure was monitored or not, infection calculi, duration of operation and whether the cumulative time of renal pelvis pressure upon 40cmH2O≥1 min contributed to postoperative fever. The rate of postoperative fever in unmonitored group was higher than monitored group while the same between high-pressure group and low-pres-sure group, with statistically significant difference(P<0. 05). Conclusion Monitoring the intraoperative RRP and regulating the manual perfusion pressure during RIRS has positive significance in postoperative recovery and contribute to reducing postoperative fever.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the status quo of knowledge-attitude-behavior about organ donation willingness and death attitudes of medical students majoring in nursing (nursing students). Methods A total of 409 nursing students from 3 medical colleges in Tianjin were recruited as study subjects by convenient sampling method. A crosssectional survey was carried out using organ donation scale and Chinese version of death attitude scale. Questionnaire input was performed by Epidata 3.1 software. The general situation of 409 nursing students was sumed up. The status quo of the knowledge-attitude-behavior about organ donation among nursing students and the correlation between the attitude towards death and the willingness to donate organs was analyzed. Results The nursing students lacked of comprehensive understanding of organ donation knowledge. A majority of nursing students held neutral or slightly positive attitudes towards organ donation. Only 10.5% of nursing students were willing to donate organs. Nursing students were inclined to death natural acceptance. Organ donation willingness was correlated with death attitudes. The fear of death was the primary factor affecting the organ donation willingness of nursing students (P<0.05). Conclusions At present, a small proportion of nursing students are willing to donate organs and they are affected by the fear of death. Social and medical colleges should strengthen the death education for nursing students to establish positive death attitudes and promote the development of organ donation.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the expressions of Caveolin-1 (CAV-1) and transforming growth factor bata 1 (TGF-β1) in human adenocarcinoma of lung A549 cells exposed to hyperoxia, and to explore the changes in CAV-1 and TGF-β1 expressions and the role in hyperoxic lung injury. Methods After the A549 human lung cancer cell lines were resuscitated, the cells were packaged and cultured in 50 mL/L CO2 culture chamber, when approaching to the condition of confluence in CO2 culture chamber(37 ℃,50 mL/L CO2),the cells were randomly divided into control group and hyperoxia group.Eighteen bottles of A549 cells in each group. The hyperoxia group received attacking factor that was mixed with oxygen (950 mL/L)and CO2 (50 mL/L) at a velocity of 3 L/min for 10 min;then the flasks were enclosed and cultured in culture chamber, while those in control group were still exposed to 5 mL/L CO2.After cells were cultured for 12 h,24 h,48 h,the changes in morphology were observed under the inverted microscope, the expressions CAV-1 and TGF-β1 were detected by double immunofluorescence staining technique, followed by laser scanning under the focus microscope. Results In the control group, there was high expression of CAV-1 associated with low expression of TGF-β1 (44.25 ± 3.23,10.18 ± 2.74).Compared with control group, the content of CAV-1 reduced continuously (12 h:35.25 ± 1.88,24 h:20.75 ± 1.68,48 h:9.86 ± 2.80) under prolonged hyperoxia exposure, but TGF-β1 increased gradually(12 h:17.32 ± 1.50,24 h:26.51 ± 1.82,48 h:41.94 ±4.47),and the expression of CAV-1 had highly negative relation to TGF-β1 at the same time (r =-0.91,-0.62,-0.53,-0.88,all P < O.05) in the control group and the hyperoxia group in 12 h,24 h,48 h.Conclusions The reduction of CAV-1 expression can attenuate the inhibitory effect of TGF-β1 and activate TGF-β1 signaling pathway, which may result in hyperoxic lung injury.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo investigate flap survival after transfection using gene encoding vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF).

METHODSIn 30 Sprague-Dawley rats, the anterior abdominal skin flap supplied by the epigastric vessels was created. The animals were divided into three groups, with ten of each. The first group was treated with a mixture of liposomes and the cDNA encoding the 165-amino acid isoform of VEGF; the second group was treated with control blank plasmid DNA and liposome transfection medium; the third group was treated with physiological saline. Four days after injection, the epigastric artery and vein were ligated and the blood flow in the flap was evaluated by intraperitoneal injection of fluorescence solution. Seven days later, the survival area of the flap was measured by planimetry. After the animals were killed, specimens were harvested from the anterior abdomen skin flap for immunohistological evidence of VEGF expression and for hematoxylin and eosin staining of microvascular growth.

RESULTS30 minutes after pedicle ligation the average fluorescence staining planimetry of the three groups (PCD-VEGF165, PCD and physiological saline) was 60.64%, 30.15% and 29.89% respectively. Tissue survival planimetry of the three groups was 92.3%, 30.5%, 31.8%. There was significant difference between the first group and the latter two (P < 0.05). Immunohistochemical staining documented increased deposition of VEGF cDNA in the first group compared to the control groups (P < 0.05). Normal staining documented that the average vessel number of the three groups was 101.72, 91.35 and 89.85 (P < 0.05), the average vessel lumen diameter was 26 microns, 31.09 microns and 32.51 microns(P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThrough administration, PCD-VEGF165 can transfect the anterior abdominal skin flap and enhance its survival. There was express of VEGF protein in the treated flap.
