ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To investigate the occurrence time and risk factors of anemia in patients with acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) after taking highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) containing zidovudine. METHODS The clinical data of 2 150 AIDS patients who were followed up in the care clinic of Liuzhou People’s Hospital from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2022 were collected. The occurrence time of anemia was analyzed retrospectively, and the risk factors of anemia were analyzed by univariate analysis and binary Logistic regression analysis. RESULTS A total of 854 AIDS patients receiving HAART containing zidovudine were collected, and 107 patients (12.53%) developed anemia. Most of them (63.55%) developed anemia within 3 months after treatment. Baseline hemoglobin [OR=2.944, 95%CI (1.195, 7.501), P=0.019], baseline CD4+ T lymphocyte count [OR=2.472, 95%CI (1.117, 5.469), P=0.026] and baseline human immunodeficiency virus-ribonucleic acid (HIV-RNA) [OR=4.299, 95%CI (1.905, 9.705), P<0.001] was associated with anemia. CONCLUSIONS The median time of anemia in AIDS patients receiving HAART containing zidovudine is the second month after initiation of treatment. Baseline hemoglobin≤110 g/L, baseline CD4+ T lymphocyte E-mail:1315775863@qq.com count≤100 /mm3, and baseline HIV-RNA≥100 000 copies/mL are independent risk factors for anemia in these patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the total radioactivity in drinking well water around the Bayanwula uranium mine. Methods:Totally 174 samples of drinking well water and 5 samples of filtered well water from residential houses were collected during dry and wet seasons in 2020 around the Bayanwula uranium mine. Total α and total β radioactivity in dry season and wet season were analyzed for detrmining whether there were differences between them and the relation between total radioactivity with different locations away from the uranium center. The radioactivity in filtered drinking well water used in residential houses was also investigated. Radioactivity were measured and analyzed using low background alpha and beta radioactivity meters, and the data were analysed using SPSS analytical statistical method. Results:In the drinking well water around Bayanwula uranium mine, the activity concentrations of total α and β measured in dry season were 0.024-2.468 Bq/L with a mean of (0.605±0.507) Bq/L and 0.125-1.395 Bq/L with a mean of (0.420±0.235) Bq/L, respectively. The values measured in wet season were 0.049-2.988 Bq/L with a mean of (0.825±0.605) Bq/L for total α and 0.059-1.623 Bq/L with a mean of (0.506±0.265) Bq/L for total β, respectively. The average value of total radioactivity in water samples was lower within 10, 30 and 20 km of the uranium mine in the descending order. Conclusions:The radioactivity in well water around the Bayanwula uranium mine is high, with the total α and β in samples greater in wet season than in the dry season and without elevated levels as compared to the pre-mining background.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the efficacy of entecavir (ETV) versus tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) and the treatment measures for poor response in previously untreated chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients with high viral load. Methods A total of 165 CHB patients who received antiviral therapy and met the inclusion criteria in Department of Infectious Diseases, The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University, from June 2016 to July 2021 were enrolled. The patients enrolled had a baseline HBV DNA level of > 6lg copies/ml and were previously untreated CHB patients who had used ETV or TDF for 48 weeks, and quantitative real-time PCR was used to measure HBV DNA. Virologic response rate was calculated after 48 weeks of treatment; a logistic regression analysis was used to investigate the influencing factors for the response of HBV DNA 40 U/L) at baseline, 89.2% (107/120) achieved an HBV DNA load of 30 years (77.8% vs 47.2%, 85.2% vs 66.7%). For the patients who did not achieve complete virologic response (HBV DNA ≥100 copies/mL) after 48 weeks of treatment, 87.9% (29/33) achieved complete virologic response after the original treatment regimen was prolonged for 48 weeks, and 100% (9/9) of the patients achieved complete virologic response after switching to or adding the first-line nucleos(t)ide analogues (NUCs) without cross-resistance sites with the original regimen for another 48 weeks. Conclusion The patients aged > 30 years should receive antiviral therapy as early as possible, regardless of viral load and ALT level, especially those with a family history of liver cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma; the patients aged ≤30 years who have a normal ALT level and a high viral load should consider initiating antiviral therapy after providing informed consent. For the patients with poor response after 48 weeks of treatment, first-line NUCs without cross-resistance sites with the original regimen should be switched to or added in time.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the safety and effectiveness of application of modified double-lumen microcatheter in the measurement of fractional flow reserve(FFR) in coronary bifurcation lesions. Methods:Total of 28 patients with coronary bifurcation lesions in two centers were divided into two groups:conventional technique group(CON) and novel technique group(NOV). The fluoroscopy time, contrast dye usage and FFR-related complications of the two groups were analyzed retrospectively. Results:There were 16 cases in CON group and 12 cases in NOV group. The median time required fluoroscopy in NOV group was significantly less than that in CON group; additionally, lesser amounts of contrast dye were used in NOV group (both P<0.05). The NOV group procedures were successfully accomplished in all cases without complications, such as damage of the pressure sensor, SB spasm or dissection. However, The CON group failed in three patients, including two who experienced coronary artery spasms( P>0.05). Conclusions:Limited experience suggests that the application of modified double-lumen microcatheter in the jailed SB FFR measurement after MV stenting is a safe and technically feasible approach.
