ABSTRACT

Objective@#To explore the influencing factors of exposure to campus bullying among junior and senior school students, and to establish a column line diagram model for risk prediction, while providing a theoretical basis for campus bullying prevention and control in secondary schools.@*Methods@#A total of 22 034 junior and senior school students were selected via direct sampling technique from September to November 2021 in 13 cities in Jiangsu Province, China, and questionnaires were administered using the Student Health Behavior Questionnaire. The Chi squared test and multifactor Logistic regression analysis were used to derive the influencing factors of exposure to campus bullying, and a column line graph prediction model was drawn.@*Results@#A total of 540 students reported that they had experienced campus bullying, with a prevalence rate of 2.45%. Being in a non conventional family ( OR =1.30,95% CI =1.02-1.65), overweight/obesity ( OR =1.35,95% CI =1.09-1.67), scolding by parents in the past 30 days ( OR =2.27,95% CI =1.82-2.84), cigarette smoking in the past 30 days ( OR =1.54,95% CI =1.11-2.15), Internet addiction ( OR =2.03,95% CI =1.34-3.08), and depressive symptoms( OR =5.24,95% CI =4.16-6.61), all of which were positively correlated with exposure to campus bullying among junior and senior school students ( P <0.05). Furthermore, the following factors were negatively associated with junior and senior school students protection from campus bullying in female students ( OR = 0.58 , 95% CI =0.46-0.72),senior school students ( OR =0.68,95% CI =0.54-0.83), eating breakfast sometimes ( OR =0.37,95% CI = 0.22 -0.62), and eating breakfast everyday ( OR =0.28,95% CI =0.17-0.49) ( P <0.05). The column line graph established based on the above influencing factors had an area under the curve of 0.792 (95% CI =0.769-0.815), and the calibration curve showed that the predicted value was basically the same as the measured value.@*Conclusions@#Non conventional families, overweight/obesity, male students, junior school students, scolding by parents, cigarette smoking, Internet addiction, and depressive symptoms are correlated with school bullying among middle school students. The predictive model constructed in the study can provide an effective basis to predict the risk of school bullying and facilitate the implementation of proactive interventions for junior and senior school students.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of diurnal temperature difference on hospitalization volume of patients with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in Urumqi City. Methods The daily hospitalization data for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in Urumqi City from 2019-2021, and meteorological and pollutant data for the same period were collected. The relationship between diurnal temperature range and hospitalizations for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases was analyzed using a distribution lag non-linear model (DLNM), controlling for the long-term trends, the day-of-week effects and other factors. Results The greater the diurnal temperature range, the longer the lag time, and the higher the risk of hospitalization for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. The lag effect increased significantly when the maximum diurnal temperature range reached 21.0°C. The risk effect appeared on the day of exposure and lasted until day 20, with a maximum RR of 1.266 (95% CI: 1.129-1.421) at a lag of 13 days. At very high diurnal temperature range, the risk of hospitalization for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases was higher in the cold season than that in the warm season. Results after stratified analysis by sex and age showed that men and people aged ≥65 years were more susceptible to diurnal temperature range. Conclusion Extremely high diurnal temperature range is a potential trigger for hospitalization for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in Urumqi. Men and people aged ≥65 years are more vulnerable to the impact of diurnal temperature range. In the cold season, more attention should be paid to protecting vulnerable people from the impact of the extremely high diurnal temperature difference.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To explore the antitumor effect and mechanism of total alkaloids of Gelsemium elegans (TA) and sempervirine (SPV) in vitro. METHODS The effects of low, medium and high concentrations of TA (50, 100, 200 μg/mL) and SPV (10, 30, 50 μmol/L) on the morphology of human hepatoma cells (HepG2, Bel-7402), human lung cancer cells (A549) and human colon cancer cells (HCT-8) were observed, and the toxicity of TA and SPV to four tumor cells was monitored. The effects of TA and SPV on the contents of caspase-3 and caspase-9 in the supernatant of HCT-8 cells, the protein expressions of phosphorylated protein kinase B (p-Akt) (Thr308, Ser473), B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2), Bcl-2-related X protein (Bax), survivin, C/EBP-homologous protein (CHOP), immunoglobulin binding protein (Bip) and microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3Ⅱ (LC3Ⅱ) in HCT-8 cells were detected. RESULTS After the intervention of TA and SPV, the volume reduction and nuclear shrinkage were founded in four tumor cells; the cell activity decreased to varying degrees, among which TA and SPV had the best inhibitory effect on HCT-8 cells. After the intervention of TA and SPV, the contents of caspase-3 and caspase-9 in the supernatant of HCT-8 cells, the protein expressions of Bax, CHOP, Bip and LC3Ⅱ all increased to different degrees, while the protein expressions of p-Akt (Thr308, Ser473), Bcl-2 and survivin in HCT-8 cells all decreased to different degrees. CONCLUSIONS TA and SPV have inhibitory effects on the above four tumor cells, and the inhibitory effect on HCT-8 cells is the best. The mechanism of their action on HCT-8 cells may be related to promoting apoptosis, activating endoplasmic reticulum stress and autophagy.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the inhibitory effects of total alkaloids of Gelsemium elegans (TAG) on the proliferation and angiogenesis of human colon cancer cells. METHODS :Human colon cancer cell line HT- 29 and HUVEC were cultured in vitro . After the intervention of low- ,medium-,high-dose TAG (40,80,120 μg/mL),the morphology of the two cells was observed by fluorescence inversion microscope. The survival rate of HT- 29 cells and HUVEC was detected by CCK- 8 assay. Flow cytometry was used to detect HT- 29 cell cycle. The migration rate ,invasion rate and tube number of HUVEC were observed by scratching test ,Transwell invasion experiment and tube formation experiment. RESULTS :Compared with blank group ,HT-29 cells and HUVEC were decreased to different extents in TAG groups ;dead cells were observed ,and the survival rate of both decreased significantly (P<0.05 or P<0.01). The proportion of HT- 29 cells at G 2/M phase in TAG groups as well as those at G 0/G1 phase in medium-dose group were increased significantly ;the proportion of HT- 29 cells at S phase in TAG groups as well as those at G 0/G1 phase in high-dose group were decreased significantly (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Survival rate ,migration rate and invasion rate of HUVEC were decreased significantly in TAG groups ,and tube number was also decreased significantly at each time point during 4-24 h(P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS :TAG have inhibitory effect on the proliferation of human colon cancer HT- 29 cells and HUVEC,can change HT- 29 cell cycle ,inhibit the migration ,invasion and tube formation of HUVEC.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND@#In recent years, the technique of uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery has been developed. As a new surgical method, its feasibility and safety have not been generally recognized. The aim of this study is to review the technology in the treatment of lung cancer patients in stage I to part of stage IIIa.@*METHODS@#The clinical data of patients accepted thoracoscopic resection of lung cancer by a same medical group from May 2018 to March 2019 in The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University were retrospectively analyzed. After remove of cases that did not meet the requirements, the patients were divided into uniportal group (55 cases) and biportal group (87 cases). The clinical data of the two groups were collected and statistically analyzed.@*RESULTS@#All the 142 patients underwent lobectomy and systemic lymph node dissection. There is no perioperative death in both groups. There was no significant difference in age, location of tumors, pathological type, size of tumors and pathological tumor-node-metastasis (pTNM) staging between uniportal group and biportal group (P>0.05). The operation time [(167.65±43.85) min vs (181.71±51.28) min], the intraoperative bleeding volume [(57.45±50.19) mL vs (87.47±132.54) mL], the indwelling time of drainage tube [(4.82±2.82) d vs (5.84±3.43) d] and the hospital stay [(6.91±3.88) d vs (7.74±3.87) d] were less in uiportal group compared to biportal group, though no significant difference occurred (P>0.05 ). The total drainage volume of uniportal group was significantly lower than that of biportal group [(1,064.82±776.38) mL vs (1,658.71±1,722.38) mL], and the visual analogue score of 24 hours and 72 hours after operation [(4.73±0.73) points vs (5.25±0.74) points; (2.16±0.71) points vs (2.55±0.86) points] were lower in uniportal group (P<0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#Uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic radical resection of lung cancer is safe and feasible for stage I to part of stage IIIa lung cancer patients.

study the methylation status of caveolin-2(CAV2) gene in peripheral blood of uygur pigeon breeder lung patients, and discuss the significance of methylation of CAV2. Methods Twenty cases of uygur people who suffered from diseases after raising pigeons were enrolled into case group; 20 Urgur pigeons without disease were enrolled into case control group; and 20 uygur healthy subjects without pigeon were enrolled into healthy control group. General data of 60 subjects were collected and peripheral blood samples were collected. DNA was extracted from the retained peripheral blood samples, followed by hydrogen sulfite transformation, PCR amplification, in vitro transcription and RNase A-specific enzyme digestion, and finally, matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry was used to detect the methylation of CAV2. Results CpG site of CAV2 fragment(CpG_1, CpG_2-4, CpG_5, CpG_6-8, CpG_9, CpG_10, CpG_11), actually detected 9 sites (CpG_1, CpG_2-4, CpG_5, CpG_6-8, CpG_11), the methylation rate distribution of each site in the three groups showed no statistical differences (P>0.05). The methylation rates of each site between the three groups were compared in pairs, and showed no statistical differences (P > 0.05). Conclusions Whether CAV2 gene methylation has any effect on the pulmonary pathogenesis and pulmonary fibrosis process of uygur pigeon feeders remains to be further studied.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the relationship between bone mineral density (BMD) and the changes of serum adiponectin (APN) level in elderly men.Methods A total of 240 elderly men was enrolled in this study.Measurement of BMD of lumbar spine with dual energy X-ray absorptiometry was performed.All subjects were divided into three groups (normal,osteopenia,and osteoporosis) according to the T value of BMD.Serum APN level was tested using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA),meanwhile were recorded as bone lurnover markers.Results (1) The level of serum APN in osteopenia group was lower than in normal group,the level of serum APN in osteoporosis group was significantly lower than in osteopenia group,while the level of serum APN in osteoporosis group was significantly lower than in normal group (all P < 0.05).(2) Serum APN was positively correlated with T value of BMD (r =0.475,P <0.01).(3) The stepwise multiple linear regression analysis showed serum APN,25-hydroxyvitamin D,β-isomerized carboxyterminal propeptide (β-CTX),and osteocalcin could enter into the equation.Conclusions Serum APN might play an important role in pathogenesis of osteoporosis in elderly men.

ABSTRACT

Objective To assess the feasibility of anticoagulation therapy after mechanical valve replacement in grass-root health institutions.Methods One hundred and sixty one patients with mechanical valve replacement received anticoagulation therapy with warfarin,including 79 cases receiving the therapy in grass-root health institutions (test group) and 82 cases in the tertiary hospitals (control group).The patients were followed up for 12 months after operation;the rate of anticoagulation efficacy,the anticoagulationrelated complications,and the anticoagulation-related cost were documented and compared between two groups.Results The international normalized ratio (INR) tests were performed for 1 021 times in test group and 717 times were up to anticoagulation standard (70.2 %,717/1 021),while INR tests in control group were performed for 965 times and 688 times were up to standard (71.3%,688/965);there were no significantly differences in efficacy rate between two groups (P > 0.05).There were no significant differences in rate of bleeding events and thrombosis between two groups [16.5% (13/79) vs.12.2% (10/82),6.3%(5/79) vs.4.9%(4/82),respectively,x2 =0.596,P=0.44,x2 =0.161,P=0.69].The anticoagulation-related cost per month and per patient in test group was significantly lower than those in control group [(63.1 ±.12.8) vs.(176.6 ± 16.4) yuan,t =48.716,P <0.05].Conclusion Compared with the tertiary hospital,the anticoagulation therapy in grass-root institutions can accomplish the similar clinical outcomes and significantly reduce the medical cost in patients with mechanical valve replacement.

ABSTRACT

This study was aimed to detect the heavy metal residues of medicinal leeches, in order to understand the current market circulation situation of medicinal leeches, and to analyze possible factors which may cause heavy metal pollution, and to provide references for the standardized safe cultivation of medicinal leeches. Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) technique was applied to detect heavy metal residues in medicinal leeches. The results showed that medicinal leech samples tested for heavy metal content severely exceeded the standard, which caused a great threat to the safety of medication. It was conclude that more attentions should be paid on factors for causing heavy metal accumulation within medicinal leeches during the breeding process. The related department should also list safety limits explicitly and separately for animal drugs such as medicinal leech during the development of quality standards of Chinese materia medica.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the effect of pleural cavity integrity on respiratory system after off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCABG),through comparing the respiratory complication after OPCABG.Methods One hundred and two patients were accepted OPCABG,among whom 49 patients' pleural cavities were opened (open group) and 53 patients' pleural cavities were closed (close group).The ventilation time,intensive care unit time,pleural effusion,the rate of atelectasis and respiratory failure after operation were compared between two groups.Results The ventilation time and intensive care unit time in open group were (40.3 ± 4.8) h and (78.3 ± 10.8) h,in open group were (28.6 ± 6.8) h and (54.8 ± 6.1) h.The ventilation time and intensive care time in open group were significantly longer than those in close group(P < 0.01 or < 0.05).The pleural effusion in open group was (800.0 ± 60.5) ml,in close group was (350.0 ± 28.6) ml.The pleural effusion in open group was significantly higher than that in close group (P < 0.01).The rate of postoperative atelectasis and respiratory failure in open group were 36.7%(18/49) and 38.8%(19/49),in close group were 15.1%(8/53) and 18.9%(10/53).The rate of postoperative atelectasis and respiratory failure in open group were significantly higher than those in close group (P < 0.01).Conclusions OPCABG is the operation in mediastinum.To avoid pleural cavity opened in OPCABG can reduce the incidence of postoperative respiratory complication.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the role of titanium plate fixation for sternum closure after off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCABG) in elderly patients.Methods A total of 120 elderly patients who accepted OPCABG were randomly divided into two groups.The control group (n =60) received wire to fix the sternum,and the experimental group (n=60) received titanium plate combined with wire to fix the sternum.The chest closure time,the rate of postoperative incision pain,the rate of sternal dehiscence and sternal re-fixation between two groups were observed and recorded.Results The rates of postoperative incision pain,sternal dehiscence,sternal re-fixation was lower in experimental group than in control group [11.7%(7/60) vs.38.3%(23/60),3.3%(7/60) vs.13.3%(8/60),1.7%(1/60) vs.11.7%(7/60),x2 =11.378,3.927,4.821 respectively all P<0.05].The chest closure time was longer in experimental group than in control group [(39±5)min vs.(30±2) min,x2 =13.386,P<0.05].Conclusions Titanium fixation plate combined with wire for sternum closure can increase the stability of sternum fixation,reduce the postoperative pain and sternal dehiscence,and then decrease the risk of sternal re-fixation,but delay sternal closure of OPCABG in the elderly.

ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the efficacies of several commonly-used penetrating needling methods in treating post-stroke strephenopodia. Method Eighty-three patients with post-stroke strephenopodia were randomized into four groups, a control group intervened by conventional needling method (n=20), and the rest three groups were additionally intervened by different penetrating needling methods: penetrating group 1 [Qiuxu (GB40) towards Zhaohai (KI6), n=21], penetrating group 2 [Taibai (SP3) towards Shugu (BL65), n=21], and penetrating group 3 [Jiaoxin (KI8) towards Fuyang (BL59), n=21], to compare their effects on the function of ankle and lower extremity. Result The penetrating needling methods and conventional needling method all can significantly improve the function of ankle in patients with post-stroke strephenopodia (P 0.05). The penetrating needling methods and conventional needling method all can significantly improve the motor function of lower extremity in patients with post-stroke strephenopodia (P0.05). Conclusion Needling from Qiuxu towards Zhaohai and from Taibai towards Shugu can produce significant effects in improving ankle function and the motor function of lower extremity in patients with post-stroke strephenopodia, while needling from Jiaoxin to Fuyang doesn’t have notable advantage compared to the other penetrating needling methods and conventional needling method.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To explore the trend of cooper enrichment in hirudinidae influenced by culture environment. MET-HODS:The soil containing low-content,medium-content and high-content of cooper groups(30.00,60.00,90.00 μg/g)and water culture control group were set up. Hirudinidae leech were culture for 60 d,and sampled every 15 days. ICP-MS techniques was used to determined and compared the contents of cooper in W. pigra and soil. RESULTS:In first 15 days,the contents of cooper in leech from 4 groups increased greatly,compared with before;in the following 15 days,the content of cooper kept stable in high-content group while decreased in other 3 groups;in the 30-45 day,the contents of cooper increased rapidly in 4 groups,and those of low-content group and high-content group reached the peak in this experiment;in the last 15 days,the contents of cooper in control group and high-content group increased continuously,while those of low-content and medium-content groups decreased to some extent. Compared with before,the contents of cooper in leech from control group,low-content,medium-content and high-content groups increased by 292%,186%,293%,464% respectively;those of soil from latter 3 groups increased by 81.12%,35.98% and 21.28% respectively. CONCLUSIONS:The content of cooper in leech increase with time,and is positively correlated with the content of cooper in soil. It is suggested to control the content of cooper in hirudinidae through controlling cul-ture environment when hirudinidae are cultured as medicinal material,in order to meet the quality standard of heavy metal in medic-inal material.

ABSTRACT

Phenolic acids of rhizosphere soil of Panax notoginseng were identified and the contents were determined. HPLC-MS and HPLC were used. Compared with the literature and standard reference, identification and content de-termination were given on phenolic acids of rhizosphere soil of Panax notoginseng in Wenshan, Yunnan province. The results showed that six types of phenolic acids were detected from the extract of rhizosphere soil of Panax notogin-seng, which were p-hydroxybenzoic acid, vanillic acid, syringic acid, p-coumaric acid, ferulic acid and benzoic acid. The content of p-coumaric acid showed the highest concentration of 24.01 μg·g-1, while syringic acid had the lowest concentration of 1.26 μg·g-1. The sequence of content in the rhizosphere soil of Panax notoginseng from top to bot-tom was p-coumaric acid, vanillic acid, benzoic acid, p-hydroxybenzoic acid, ferulic acid and syringic acid. It was concluded that the rhizosphere soil of Panax notoginseng contained six types of phenolic acids, which were p-hy-droxybenzoic acid, vanillic acid, syringic acid, p-coumaric acid, ferulic acid and benzoic acid.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the value of fetal heart monitoring combined with umbilical blood flow for the prediction of perinatal outcome.Methods 2200 women with pregnancy for 26 to 42 weeks were given the detection of S/D value of fetal umbilical artery blood flow and Non Stress Test(NST) of fetal heart monitoring,and the relationship between the NST,S/D and prediction of perinatal outcome.Results When the S/D value <3,perinatal anmiotic fluid shortage,amniotic fluid pollution,newborn children hypoxia asphyxia,newborn child deformity and the probability of death were significantly less than S/D ≥ 3(x2 =15.61,6.2.4,12.38,9.73,5.77,all P < 0.05);when the NST >7,the probability of adverse perinatal outcome was significantly less than the NST≤7(x2 =4.54,4.12,5.89,5.94,8.10,all P < 0.05).Conclusion The fetal umbilical artery blood flow monitoring and fetal heart monitor could improve the accuracy of prediction of perinatal outcome,avoid the defects of a single method of monitoring,early and timely diagnose the fetal distress,and give reasonable treatment to reduce neonatal mortality.

Objective To construct eukaryotic expression plasmid pEGFP-N1/EPO and to detect its expression in vitro in order to provide experimental evidence for further study on the treatment of hypoxic-ischemic brain damage.Methods The total RNA was extracted from rat kidney.EPO cDNA fragment was obtained by RT-PCR amplication,inserted into pEGFP-N1 vector and identified by restriction endonuclease digestion and nucleotide sequencing.MSCs cells were transfected with the plasmid using Lipofectamine 2000.The expression of EPO protein was detected by immunohistochemistry technique and RT-PCR.Results Confirmed by restriction endonuclease digestion and sequencing,the recombinant plasmid contained the sequence of rat EPO gene was successfully constructed.After transfection with the plasmid,EPO protein could be expressed in MSCs cells.Conclusion The constructed eukaryotic expression vector pEGFP-N1/EPO can express rat EPO in vitro.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effects of chemical compounds exposure and hyperthermal environment to pregnant rats on the hippocampus neuronal morphology and neurobehavioral development of their offsprings. MethodsPregnant rats were divided into 4 groups randomly: the control group; chemical compounds exposure group, chemical compounds combined hyperthermal exposure group and hyperthermal group. The control group was living in normal condition; the chemical compounds exposure group in a cabin with benzene (20.26?0.80) mg/m3, toluene (39.66?4.23) mg/m3, dimethylbenzene (42.40?2.85) mg/m3, and formaldehyde (23.13?1.30) mg/m3; the hyperthermal group was kept in an atmosphere of 38.5 ℃; and the combined group was exposed to the chemical compounds and high temperature at the same time. All animals were treated respectively 2 h per day for 10 d since their pregnancy. Their offspring were lived in normal condition. The development of brain and changes of hippocampus neuronal morphology were observed just or 1 month after born. The primary reflex activity of new-born rats was also examined. ResultsThere was no abnormality in the brain of new born rats from 4 groups. In the chemical compounds exposure and the combined exposure groups, the number of degeneration and necrosis neurons in CA1 region of hippocampus were significantly more than those in control and hyperthermal groups (P

ABSTRACT

Objective:To study the effect of IL-15 eukaryotic expression plasmid on the humoral immune responses to HBV surface antigen protein vaccine.Methods:Had constructed two of IL-15 eukaryotic expression plasmides.One is the eukaryotic expression plasmid of the IL-15 whole sequence,the other is the chimeric eukaryotic expression plasmid of the IL-2 signal peptide and IL-15 mature peptide sequence(IL-2s-15).The bioactivities of the expression products of the two plasmids were identified by CTLL-2 proliferation assay.Results:After IL-15 plasmid co-immunized with HBsAg,the titer of anti-HBsIgG was much higher than that of control( P 0.05),however,the anti-HBsIgG2a/IgG1 ratio was higher than that of control.Conclusion:IL-15 expression plasmids effect differently on the immune responses induced by protein vaccine.
