ABSTRACT

2-Oxoglutarate/Fe(II)-dependent dioxygenases (2-ODD) play an important role in plant primary and secondary metabolism. Based on the high-throughput sequencing platform Illumina NovaSeq 6000, the transcriptome of Salvia apiana Jepson was sequenced, and the obtained reads were de novo assembled. A total of 38 534 unigenes were obtained from the transcriptome. The assembled unigenes were annotated and 29 982 unigenes were given functional annotations. The 2-ODD genes were identified from the assembled S. apiana transcriptome database by bioinformatics methods, and the genes were analyzed, including the homology of the sequences, physicochemical characteristics, signal peptides, transmembrane domains, subcellular localization, secondary structure and tertiary structure, etc. The evolutionary relationships and the expression patterns of the identified 2-ODD genes were also analyzed. 39 full-length 2-ODD genes were identified from the transcriptome of S. apiana. The average length of these 2-ODD encoding proteins was 320 amino acids, the molecular weight was about 36.00 kDa, and most of them were hydrophilic proteins. Phylogenetic analysis divided these 2-ODD genes into several subfamilies. Gene expression analysis indicated that the 2-ODD genes were expressed in different parts of S. apiana, and the expression level of most genes was much higher in roots than that in leaves. This study can lay a foundation for further study of 2-ODD genes in S. apiana.

ABSTRACT

Abstract Introduction The standard approach to thyroidectomy is a collar incision via the anterior neck, and the neck scar has always been a source of worry for patients. Acceptable wound cosmetology has become a focus for thyroid surgeons. Objective To verify the effectiveness and cosmetic results of thyroidectomy through a lateral supraclavicular incision. Methods 180 patients were randomly divided into two groups: a lateral supraclavicular approach and a conventional transcervical approach. The main outcomes included incision length, intraoperative blood loss, operative time, total drainage volume, hospitalization expense, early postoperative pain measured by visual analog scale, infection, and perceived cosmetic outcome. Results There were no statistical significances between the two groups in terms of age, gender, nodule size, intraoperative blood loss, operative time, total drainage volume, hospital expense and postoperative complications, whereas there were significant differences in terms of incision length (5.2 ± 1.04 cm vs. 6.9 ± 1.14 cm, p < 0.05). Conclusions The lateral supraclavicular incision is a safe and feasible approach for thyroidectomy. Compared with conventional approach, it provides a better cosmetic result.


Resumo Introdução A abordagem padrão para tireoidectomia é uma incisão em colar na face anterior do pescoço; a cicatriz no pescoço sempre foi uma fonte de preocupação para os pacientes; consequentemente, a cosmetologia aceitável da ferida tornou‐se um foco de atenção para os cirurgiões de cabeça e pescoço. Objetivos Verificar a eficácia e os resultados cosméticos da tireoidectomia por meio de incisão supraclavicular lateral. Método Foram divididos aleatoriamente 180 pacientes em dois grupos: um grupo supraclavicular lateral (Grupo LS) e outro transcervical convencional (Grupo TC). Os desfechos principais incluíram comprimento da incisão, perda de sangue intraoperatória, tempo cirúrgico, volume total de drenagem, despesas hospitalares, dor no pós‐operatório imediato medida através de escala visual analógica, infecção e resultado cosmético percebido. Resultados Não houve significância estatística entre os dois grupos em termos de idade, sexo, tamanho do nódulo, perda sanguínea intraoperatória, tempo cirúrgico, volume total de drenagem, custo hospitalar e complicações pós‐operatórias, mas houve diferença significante em termos de comprimento da incisão (5,2 ± 1,04 cm vs. 6,9 ± 1,14 cm, p < 0,05). Conclusão A incisão supraclavicular lateral é uma abordagem segura e viável para tireoidectomia. Em comparação com a abordagem convencional, oferece um melhor resultado cosmético.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To assist enterprises to understand the technical points a nd development trend of pharmaceutical intermediates industry ,and to provide new development ideas and technical support for pharmaceutical intermediates application technology. METHODS :Taking the core technology involved in pharmaceutical intermediates as the research object and divided into four levels ,the patent data of pharmaceutical intermediates published (announced)before Feb. 2nd,2020 in State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO),INCOPAT and PatSnap patent databases were searched. Patent analysis method was used to analyze the patent application trend and patent applicants of pharmaceutical intermediates ,and the secondary and tertiary technologies of pharmaceutical intermediates were analyzed in detail. Finally ,SPSS 24.0 software was used for curve fitting prediction analysis of the number of patent applications for pharmaceutical intermediates in China. RESULTS :A total of 12 103 related patents were retrieved. Under the secondary technology classification ,there were 331 patents for antibiotic drug intermediates ,474 patents for antipyretic and analgesic drug intermediates ,1 227 patents for cardiovascular drug intermediates ,and 1 550 patents for anticancer drug intermediates. The numbers of patent applications for pharmaceutical intermediates in the world and China were increasing year by year ,and Chinese mainland had the largest number of patent applications. The number of patent applications in Jiangsu , Shanghai and Shandong ranked the top 3. Among the top 10 patent,8 were domestic enterprises or universities ,and they also ranked the top 2 in the composition of pharmaceutical intermediates applicants in China. Among the secondary technologies of pharmaceutical intermediates ,cardiovascular pharmaceutical intermediates accounted for the largest proportion of patent applications (32%),followed by anticancer pharmaceutical intermediates (30%). Among the tertiary technologies ,there were patent applications for the products (35%),methods(35%)and uses (28%)of pharmaceutical intermediates. The curve fitting of the number of patent applications for pharmaceutical intermediates in China showed that the current trend of patent applications was the best fitted with the cubic curve model ,and it was predicted that the number of patent applications in 2020 and 2021 will be 688 and 781 respectively. CONCLUSIONS :The technology of pharmaceutical intermediates has developed rapidly in China ,and universities and enterprises have considerable R&D strength. In addition to expanding in technological innovation ,enterprises can also consider the development idea of school-enterprise cooperation and patent cross licensing among enterprises to help the better deve lopment of China ’s pharmaceutical intermediates industry.

ABSTRACT

The whole chloroplast genome ofthe medicinal plant Paeonia mairei H. Lév. was sequenced using the Illumina HiSeq X Ten platform and then assembled, annotated, and characterized by bioinformatic methods in this study. The complete chloroplast genome of P. mairei is 152 731 bp in length with the typical quadripartite structure, which consists of a large single copy-region (LSC, 84 402 bp), a small single copy-region (SSC, 16 969 bp), and a pair of inverted repeat regions (IRa and IRb, 25 680 bp), with an overall GC content of 38.4%. A total of 136 predicted genes, including 90 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNA genes and eight rRNA genes were identified. Among these, seven protein-coding genes, seven tRNA genes and four rRNA genes were found duplicated in the IR regions. In addition, 28 dispersed repeats, 10 tandem repeats, and 64 simple sequence repeats were detected within the whole chloroplast genome of P. mairei. Comparative analyses between 12 Peaonia species showed that the chloroplast genomes are highly conserved in length, gene content, gene order, and GC content. Meanwhile, the noncoding sequences (intergenic regions and introns) show a higher variation than the protein coding sequences, and sequences from the LSC region and SSC region are more variable than those from the IR regions. P. mairei was inferred forming in a distinct clade with P. lactiflora, P. obovate, and P. anomala subsp. veitchii with a 100% bootstrap value and is phylogenetically closest to P. lactiflora. These results may provide a basis for further genetic studies and the development and utilization of medicinal P. mairei.

BACKGROUND@#In recent years, visual quality has been extensively investigated in various conditions. In this community-based population study, we analyzed the effects of aging, refraction, and Lens Opacification Classification System III (LOCSIII) score on retinal imaging quality in healthy Chinese adults.@*METHODS@#This cross-sectional study was conducted on sub-group subjects from The Handan Eye Study between October 2012 and January 2013. Healthy subjects over 30-years-old with logarithm of the minimal angle of resolution (logMAR) best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) less than 0 were included. Retinal image quality was measured by optical quality analysis system (OQAS) and recorded as modulation transfer function cutoff frequency (MTFcutoff), OQAS value (OV) 100%, OV20%, OV9%, Strehl ratio (SR), and objective scatter index (OSI). The correlation between age, spherical equivalent refraction (SE), LOCSIII score, and optical quality parameters were investigated by multivariate analysis.@*RESULTS@#Among 1108 verified subjects, 690 subjects (1380 eyes) met the inclusion criteria. Their age ranged from 30 to 76 years, SE ranged from -4.75 to 2.75 D. They were divided into five age groups (30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and ≥70 years) for further analysis. After multivariate analysis by mixed-effect linear model, SR (t =  -3.03, P = 0.002), OV20% (t = -2.39, P = 0.017), and OV9% (t = -3.16, P = 0.001) significantly decreased with the increasing age, whereas logMAR BCVA (t = 4.42, P < 0.001) and OSI (t = 4.46, P < 0.001) significantly increased with age. As SE increased, SR (t = 2.74, P = 0.01), OV20% (t = 2.31, P = 0.02), and OV9% (t = 2.79, P = 0.005) significantly elevated, and OSI (t = -3.38, P < 0.001) significantly decreased. With the increase in cortical opacity score, all optical quality parameters except for SR significantly decreased, including MTFcutoff (t = -2.78, P = 0.01), OV100% (t = -2.78, P = 0.005), OV20% (t = -2.60, P = 0.009), and OV9% (t = -2.05, P = 0.040). As posterior sub capsular opacity score increased, MTFcutoff (t = -2.40, P = 0.02) and OV100% (t = -2.40, P = 0.01) significantly decreased, while OSI (t = 7.56, P < 0.001) significantly increased.@*CONCLUSIONS@#In healthy Chinese adult population, optical quality-related parameters significantly decrease with the increasing age, and OSI significantly increases with age. In normal BCVA subjects, optical quality is significantly impacted by cortical and posterior sub capsular opacity rather than by nuclear opacity.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the predictive value of cervical length(CL)changes in spontaneous preterm birth(SPTB)in twin pregnancies in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.METHODS: A retrospective analysis was made of 166 cases of twin pregnant women who underwent transvaginal ultrasound to measure CL during the second trimester of pregnancy(20~25 weeks)and the third trimester of pregnancy(28~32 weeks)from January 2014 to December 2017 in the Third Hospital of Peking University and Tongzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Beijing.Evaluate the predictive value of CL changes in SPTB before 32 and 34 weeks.The area under the receiver-operating characteristics(ROC)curve was compared by bootstrap method.Assessment of the value of CL in the third trimester of pregnancy and CL in the second trimester of pregnancy alone in predicting SPTB before 32 and 34 weeks.RESULTS: Of the 166 cases,90 were full-term delivery and 76 were premature delivery.The median CL of mid and late pregnancy was 34 mm and 29 mm respectively,and it was 35.5 mm and 31 mm,and in full-term delivery.32.5 mm and21 mm in premature delivery,respectively.There were significant differences among the three groups(All P25 mm and CL shortening≥ 20%,it can better predict preterm birth before 32 weeks.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Patients with chronic neuropathic pain (CNP) have a higher incidence to develop depression. However, its pathogenesis has not yet been fully elucidated. Here we aimed to investigate the role of inflammatory cytokines in CNP-related anhedonia, which is a core symptom of depression, and to explore the effects of ketamine and parecoxib on pain and anhedonia. METHODS: A rat model of spared nerve injury (SNI) was constructed to mimic CNP. Hierarchical cluster analysis of sucrose preference test (SPT) was applied to classify the SNI rats into anhedonia susceptible and unsusceptible. Inflammatory cytokines in medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) of brain, serum and L2–5 spinal cord were measured. Moreover, effects of ketamine or parecoxib on mechanical withdrawal test (MWT) and SPT in anhedonia susceptible rats were detected. RESULTS: Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α was increased in mPFC, serum and and spinal cord of anhedonia susceptible rats. Furthermore, anhedonia susceptible and unsusceptible rats both increased the interleukin (IL)-1β level in mPFC, serum and spinal cord. IL-6 was altered in serum and spinal cord, but not in mPFC. IL-10 was significantly altered in mPFC and serum, but not in spinal cord. Additionally, ketamine treatment significantly attenuated the decreased results of MWT and SPT in anhedonia susceptible rats, and that parecoxib significantly improved the MWT score, but failed to alter the result of SPT. CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that abnormalities in inflammatory cytokines confer susceptible to anhedonia in a rat model of SNI. Ketamine, a fast-acting antidepressant, has pharmacological benefits to alleviate pain and anhedonia symptoms.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the relationship between silent information regulator 1 ( SIRT1)-extracellular-regulated kinase1∕2 ( ERK1∕2) pathway and chikusetsu saponin IVa-induced reduc-tion of isoflurane-elicited neurotoxicity in fetal rats in an in vitro experiment. Methods The hippocampal neurons isolated from rats at 16-18 days of gestation were primarily cultured for 7 days and divided into 3 groups ( n = 6 each) using a random number table method: control group ( Con group) , isoflurane group (Iso group) and chikusetsu saponin IVa plus isoflurane group (ChIV+Iso group). Hippocampal neurons were cultured routinely for 6 h in Con group. Hippocampal neurons were exposed to 1. 8% isoflurane for 6 h in an incubator in Iso group. Chikusetsu saponin IVa 25μg∕ml was added to the culture medium, and hipp-ocampal neurons were incubated for 6 h and then exposed to 1. 8% isoflurane for 6 h in an incubator in ChIV+Iso group. The supernatant was collected for determination of the amount of lactic dehydrogenase ( LDH) released, neuronal viability ( by CCK-8) and expression of SIRT1, ERK1∕2 and phosphorylated ERK1∕2 ( p-ERK1∕2) ( by Western blot) . Results Compared with Con group, the neuronal viability was significantly decreased, the amount of LDH released was increased, and the expression of SIRT1 and p-ERK1∕2 was down-regulated in Iso group ( P<0. 05) . Compared with Iso group, the neuronal viability was significantly increased, the amount of LDH released was decreased, and the expression of SIRT1 and p-ERK1∕2 was up-regulated in ChIV+Iso group ( P<0. 05) . Conclusion The mechanism by which chikuset-su saponin IVa reduces isoflurane-elicited neurotoxicity is related to activating SIRT1-ERK1∕2 pathway in fe-tal rats in an in vitro experiment.

ABSTRACT

Objective To establish the weights of risk factors indicators for lower limbs deep vein thrombosis through the scientific research methods.Methods 21 experts were consulted for two rounds of questionnaires survey with Delphi method,according to the experts'opinion,analytic hierarchy process (AHP) was used to calculate the weights of indicators in grade one and the experts'evaluation was used to calculate the weights of indicators in grade two.Results The weight coefficients of grade one including vascular endothelial injury,blood high condensation state and slow blood stream were 0.3325,0.5278 and 0.1396 respectively.The items with maximal weights of the 21 indicators in grade two was vascular trauma,in particular vein injury(0.0770).The Kendall's W of the indicators in grade two was 0.422.Conclusions Through qualitative and quantitative research methods,the risk factors indicators which provide the reference for the prevention of lower limbs deep vein thrombosis are scientific and reliable.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the relationship of protein intake and energy supply with the physical growth in very/extremely low birth weight infant at their early life.</p><p><b>METHOD</b>Retrospective survey was performed in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Peking University First Hospital. Inclusion criteria were preterm infant, birth weight < 1500 g, hospitalization for longer than 2 weeks, discharge with body weight greater than 1800 g. The infants were divided into two groups according to gestational age (GA). GA < 32 weeks and ≥ 32 weeks. Physical growth and its relation with the protein intake and energy supply were analyzed. The predictive value of serum blood urea nitrogen (BUN) on protein intake was studied.</p><p><b>RESULT</b>Ninety-three very/extremely low birth weight infants were involved, 69 in GA < 32 weeks group and 24 in GA ≥ 32 weeks group.Compared with GA ≥ 32 group, GA < 32 weeks preterm infants had more weight loss, (9.2 ± 4.4)% vs. (5.0 ± 3.1)%, P = 0.000; slower birth weight recovery (10.6 ± 3.8) d vs. (7.1 ± 2.6) d, P = 0.000; poorer weight gain at 1, 4, 5 weeks of life, (-4.5 ± 9.3) g/ (kg·d) vs. (3.4 ± 6.9) g/ (kg·d), P = 0.000 , (13.5 ± 7.3) g/ (kg·d) vs. (19.2 ± 4.9) g/ (kg·d), P = 0.001, (14.6 ± 5.6) g/ (kg·d) vs. (18.2 ± 4.5) g/ (kg·d), P = 0.031; less energy supply at 1 to 5 weeks (P value was 0.000,0.000,0.025,0.001,0.008 respectively) and less protein intake at 1, 4, 5 weeks of life (P value was 0.009,0.006,0.032). Extrauterine growth retardation (EUGR) was still predominant in our subjects, 47.8% in GA < 32 weeks group, and 95.8% in GA ≥ 32 weeks group, P = 0.000. The incidence increased greater in GA < 32 weeks infants, 43.5% vs. 20.8%, P = 0.000.The duration of weight loss and mechanical ventilation correlated negatively with weight gain rate, respectively β = -0.591, P = 0.000 and β = -0.281, P = 0.005; the average energy supply and time taken to reach full enteral feeding were factors improving weight gain, respectively β = 0.202, P = 0.021 and β = 0.354, P = 0.000. After birth, serum BUN declined gradually. Positive relation showed between average protein intake at 3(rd) week and BUN level at the end of 3 weeks, r = 0.420, P = 0.000. Serum BUN 1.44, 1.49 mmol/L at the end of 3(rd) and 4(th) week were cut-off predictors for protein intake less than 3 g/(kg·d) at related period, sensitivity and specificity were 65.3%, 83.3% and 60%, 80% respectively.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>No enough protein intake and energy supply, poor weight gain are critical problems in the management of very/extremely low birth weight infants. Prevention from NEC, appropriate parenteral/enteral nutrition transforming will benefit their physical growth. Low serum BUN after 3 weeks of life is a valuable predictor of low protein intake.</p>

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo investigate the iodine nutritional status of pregnant women,newborn heel blood thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH) level and their relationship with urinary iodine(UI) level during pregnancy in Zhoupu and Kangqiao districts of Pudong New Area of Shanghai.Methods A total of 993 urinary samples(the first,second and third trimesters of pregnancy were 200 people,respectively),breast feeding(193 people) and non-pregnant women (200 people) in Zhoupu and Kangqiao districts of Pudong New area were collected from Apr 2009 to Dec 2010.Two hundred copies of neonatal heel blood samples were collected.Median of UI was measured by arsenic-cerium catalysis.TSH in neonatal heel blood was analyzed 72 h after birth by time resolved fluoroisnmunoassay(TRFIA).ResultsMedian UI of all pregnant women was 161.35 μg/L,and that in third trimesters of pregnancy( 126.35 μg/L) was lower than that of the first,the second,the breast feeding and non-pregnant women (178.80,180.50,167.90,163.40 μg/L,all P< 0.05).The percentage of UI level less than 150 μg/L in the third trimester[57.5%(115/200) ] was higher than that of the first[39.0%(78/200) ],the second[39.5%(79/200) ],the breast feeding [ 16.6% (32/193) ] and non-pregnant women [ 23.0% (46/200) ],respectively (all P < 0.05).The percentage of UI level higher than 300 μg/L in the first [9.0%(18/200)],the second[8.0%(16/200) ] and the third trimester [ 5.0% ( 10/200 ) ] of pregnancy was lower than that of the breast feeding [ 20.2% (39/193) ] and nonpregnant [20.5%(41/200) ] women,respectively(all P < 0.05).The level of neonatal heel blood TSH was(2.92 ± 1.83)mU/L,the range was 0.01 - 9.76 mU/L,11.0%(22/200) of the neonates heel blood TSH level(5 mU/L)exceeded the ratio of World Health Organization (WHO) standard ( < 3% ) suitable for iodine nutrition.Conclusions The overall level of iodine nutrition among pregnant women in Zhoupu and Kangqiao districts of Pudong New Area of Shanghai is in the appropriate range,but the pregnant women in the third trimester is in mild iodine deficiencies,and the neonates in these districts may be prone to iodine deficiency.Monitoring of iodine nutrition of pregnant women should be strengthened and iodine supplementation should be done scientifically.

ABSTRACT

The aim of the present study is to investigate the effects of Panax notoginseng saponins (PNS) on pneumocyte apoptosis and apoptosis-related protein, as well as c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) in lung ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. Thirty Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group, I/R group and PNS group. The unilateral lung I/R model was replicated by obstruction of left lung hilus for 30 min and reperfusion for 120 min in vivo. The rats in PNS group were given intraperitoneal injection of PNS at 60 min before ischemia and 10 min before reperfusion. Some lung tissues sampled at the end of the experiment were assayed for wet/dry weight ratio (W/T). The expressions of phosphorylated JNK (p-JNK) and JNK protein were detected by Western blot. The expressions of Bcl-2, Bax and Caspase-3 protein were detected by immunocytochemistry techniques. The pneumocyte apoptotic index (AI) was detected by terminal deoxynuleotidy1 transferase mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL). The morphological and ultrastructure changes were observed under light microscope and electron microscope, and the injured alveolus rate (IAR) was counted as well. The results showed that compared to control group, I/R group showed increased expressions of p-JNK, Bcl-2, Bax and Caspase-3 protein (all P < 0.01), decreased ratio of Bcl-2/Bax (P < 0.05), and increased values of AI, W/T and IAR (all P < 0.01). Moreover, light microscope and electron microscope showed serious morphological and ultrastructure injury in I/R group. Compared to I/R group, PNS group showed markedly decreased expressions of p-JNK, Bax and Caspase-3 protein (all P < 0.01), increased expression of Bcl-2 protein and ratio of Bcl-2/Bax (both P < 0.01), and lower values of AI, W/T and IAR (all P < 0.01). Meanwhile, light morphological and ultrastructure injury was found to be alleviated in PNS group. These results suggest that PNS can protect lung tissue from I/R injury, and the mechanism may correlate with suppressing JNK signal pathway, up-regulating the ratio of Bcl-2/Bax which results in inhibition of Caspase-3 dependent apoptosis.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>INTRODUCTION</b>This study aimed to determine the early growth patterns of preterm infants who required prolonged hospitalisation in terms of body weight Z-score, and to explore the influencing factors and predictors of their growth.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The criteria of enrolment included preterm birth, singleton pregnancy, hospitalisation within the first 24 hours of life, hospital stay ≥ 28 days and clinical follow-up beyond 91 days of corrected age. Body weight Z-scores and the incidence of underweight infants were reviewed periodically, and the influencing factors and possible predictors of growth analysed.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Body weight Z-scores of all infants of gestational age (GA) groups kept decreasing, with a trough seen at 36 weeks corrected gestational age (CGA). At corrected full-term, body weight Z-scores for all birth weight groups achieved birth level and were higher than that at 36 weeks CGA. Body weight Z-scores at 61 days corrected age was (-0.300 × GA [weeks] + 0.210 × birth weight [g] + 0.682 × body weight Z-score) at 40 weeks CGA. The cut-off values for body weight Z-score at birth (cut-off, -1.79; sensitivity, 100%; specificity, 91.3%) and 61 days corrected age (cut-off, -1.95; sensitivity, 100%; specificity, 97.1%) were selected to predict the risk of being underweight at 183 days corrected age.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Early growth restriction is a practical problem in preterm infants with prolonged hospitalisation. Body weight Z-scores at 40 weeks CGA and 61 days corrected age can be used to predict body weight gain prior to 183 days corrected age in these infants.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To evaluate the curative effects of manipulative reduction for children's type III humeral supracondylar fracture and the preventions of ischemic contracture of forearm in the early period.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>From September 2008 to September 2011, 38 patients with humeral supracondylar fractures were treated with manipulative reduction and plaster stabilization, including 20 males and 18 females with an average age of 7.5 years (ranged, 2 to 13 years); the average time from injury to visit was 1.8 days(ranged,0.5 h to 6 d). There were 21 cases in straighten-ulnar deviation type and 17 cases in straighten-radial deviation type, 1 case in flexion type,all of them without vascular nerve injury. It was important to process swelling correctly in early stage of fracture. To decide fixed position according to the original displacement, and make a regular X-ray review, if found another displacement to correct it in 1-2 weeks after injury in time. Dismantle the plaster on the basis of bone healing and guide the functional exercise of elbow joint. According to Dodgt standard to evaluate clinical effects.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>All patients were followed up from 3 months to 1 year with an average of 7 months. All fractures healed. According to Dodgt standard, 14 patients got an excellent results, 19 good, 4 fair and 1 poor. The excellent and good rate was 86.84%.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>It can obtain satisfactory clinical effects to treat humeral supracondylar fracture in children with closed manipulative reduction and plaster stabilization, while without vascular nerve injury. Early correct processing swelling and paying attention to gypsous angle can effectively prevent the ischemic contracture of forearm.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the protective effects and mechanism of SP600125-specificity inhibitor of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK)on lung ischemia /reperfusion injury in rats.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The unilateral lung ischemia/reperfusion model was replicated in vivo. Rats were randomly divided into three groups (n = 10): control group, ischemia/reperfusion group ( I/R group) and ischemia/reperfusion + SP600125 group (SP600125 group). The lung tissues sampled at the end of each experiment were assayed for wet/dry weight ratio (W/D),the injured alveoli rate (IAR), the expression of phosphorylation JNK (p-JNK) and JNK protein were detected by Western blot, the expression of Bcl-2, Bax, Caspase3 protein were detected by immunocytochemistry techniques, the pneumocyte apoptosis index (AI) was detected by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase mediated dUTP nick end abeling(TUNEL), the ultrastructure changes were observed under electron microscope.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Compared to I/R group, the expression of p-JNK, Bcl-2, Bax and caspase-3 protein were markedly decreased (all P < 0.01), the expression of Bcl-2 protein and the ratio of Bcl-2/Bax were markedly increased in SP600125 group(all P < 0.01). The value of AI, W/D, IAR showed significantly lower than those in I/R group (all P <0.01). Meanwhile, light morphological and ultrastructure injury were found in SP600125 group.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>SP600125 can suppress JNK signal pathway, up-regulate the ratio of Bcl-2/Bax to inhibit Caspase-3 dependent apoptosis, so that it protects lung tissue from ischemia/reperfusion injury.</p>

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo investigate the value of cavity isolation method on left colorectal obstruction in the anastomosis isolation. Methods60 patients with left colorectal obstruction were randomly divided into two groups:ileostomy group and cavity isolation method group,30 patients for each. After left colon resection was completed, ileostomy anastomosis group used the traditional method for colorectal anastomosis, and protected the anastomosis by ileostomy. Cavity isolation method group protected the anastomosis by cavity isolation method. Then the indexes in the two groups,such as anastomotic height, operation time, anal exhaust time,incidence of anastomotic leakage and its complications,hospitalization time, medical cost and so on were analyzed. Results Longer postoperative hospital stay (9.3 + 4.2) d were observed in ileostomy group than those ( 15.6 + 3.3 ) d ( P < 0.05 ). Earlier time of the first flatusand oral intake(87.2 ± 6.3 ) h, ( 91.2 ± 7.2 ) h were observed in ileostomy group than those ( 101.8 + 7.5 ) h,( 117.3 ± 8.6) h in cavity isolation method group ( all P < 0.05 ). ConclusionThe anastomosis isolation was a safe and feasible new technology that could reduce the complications caused by anastomotic leakage, and it had the advantages of short hospital stay, low cost,less suffering ect.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVES</b>To investigate the incidence of intra- and extrauterine growth retardation (EUGR) and growth restriction in premature infants, and to illustrate the growth pattern of them in postnatal and infantile period.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>All premature infants were admitted to our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) during the recent 7 years. The criteria for enrollment were (1) gestational age < 37 weeks; (2) single fetus; (3) admitted within the first 24 hours of life; (4) hospitalization period ≥ 14 days; (5) clinical follow-up persisted till ≥ 3 months of corrected gestational age. Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), EUGR and growth restriction were defined as having a measured growth value (weight) that was ≤ 10(th) percentile of Chinese infants' growth curve in corrected age on admission, discharge and follow-up period. Results were analyzed by using SPSS 12.0 statistical software package by chi-square test, rank-sum test, and t test.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Two hundred and thirty nine infants were involved, 134 were boys and 105 girls. The incidence of IUGR and EUGR assessed by weight was 25.5% and 40.6%, respectively. The lower the birth weight was, the higher the incidence of IUGR and EUGR was. The percentile of body weight in the growth curve at discharge was lower than that at birth (Z = -7.784, P = 0.000). The incidence of growth restriction assessed by weight was 20.5%, 15.0%, 8.8%, 17.0%, 10.4%, 10.1%, 11.9%, 7.0% at corrected gestational age of 38 - 40 weeks, corrected age of 28 d, 61 d, 91 d, 122 d, 152 d, 183 d, and 274 d, respectively. The incidences of growth restriction were stable when the corrected age was older than 91 days. The incidence of growth restriction in female premature infants at 183 days' corrected age was higher than that in male children (χ(2) = 6.181, P = 0.017), the incidence was 19.3% and 3.8% respectively. During the follow-up period, most of the average body weight of premature infants whose gestational age was < 32 weeks or birth weight ≤ 1500 g were lower than the 50(th) percentile of the growth curve except the average body weight of boys whose gestational age < 32 weeks at corrected age of 2 and 4 months.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Premature and/or low birth weight infants are at high risk of growth restriction, especially very low birth weight infants. The incidence of growth restriction decreased with growth. Long-term prognosis requires further investigation.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>AIM</b>To explore effects of Safflor (Chinese Tradional Medicine) on the intestine ultrastructure characteristics during intestine ischemia/ reperfusion injury (I/RI) in rabbits.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Thirty rabbits were randomly divided into three groups: control group (group S), ischemia/reperfusion group (group I/R) and Safflor injection group (group SI). Morphological changes of intestine ischemia/reperfusion in rabbits and the protective effects of Safflor were observed under electric telescope.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The intestine ultrastructure was badly injured in group I/R. Mitochondria and intestinal mucosal cells were swellen and endoplasmic reticulum expanded, however, in the SI group the ultrastructural injury of the ischemia greatly ameliorated.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The ultrastructure injury occurrted after intestine I/RI and Safflor has protective effects on the intestine ultrastructure.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the factors for the development of gallstones after gastrectomy. Methods 52 cases of patients with postgastrectumy,were retrospectively analyzed according to their diseases for gastrectomy and operation form. Results Incidence of gallstone in patients of postgastrectomy was higher than in general population. Among which, Billroth Ⅱ type of gastrectomy for carcinoma was the highest (35.5%), then the total gastrectomy (31.5%) and proximate gastrectomy(13.5%). Billroth Ⅰ type operation was 10.3%. Incidence of gallstone in pa-tients of selective vagotomy was lowest (2.5%). Condusion Billroth Ⅱ type of gastrectomy and total gastrectomy were the risk factors of postgastrectomy cholelithiasis. The causes for gallstone formation after Billroth Ⅱ type of gas-trectomy were the restitution of digestive canal and metabolic disorder of bile acid.
