ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To survey the prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) in adults aged over 60 years in Dongying city, and analyze the risk factors and the extent of damage to the quality of life for the elderly to provide the basis for prevention and treatment of OSAHS people.@*METHOD@#One thousand subjects were derived from a random cluster sampling in seven districts of Dongying city:they were asked to answer the questions from questionnaires. According to the questionnaire scoring, 100 subjects in high-risk group were selected randomly to make polysomnography monitoring for a whole night,so that the prevalence of the disease was calculated and the related risk factors were analyzed; elderly patients diagnosed with OSAHS were asked to assess the quality of life assessment questionnaire by face to face to understand the quality of life dimensions injury.@*RESULT@#The actual number of completed surveys was 934, and the efficiency was 93.4%. The estimated prevalence of OSARS in elder people defined by apnea-hypopnea index (AHI ≥ 5) was 32.5%; Multivariate analysis revealed that age smoking, family snoring, neck circumference, waist circumference, and abnormality of the upper airway were respectively independent risk factors of OSAHS,and the abnormalities of the upper airway had the most obvious impact on AHI. The damage caused by OSAHS to the quality of life for elderly people followed their daily work life, social relationships, symptoms, alertness, emotional, general health, symptoms.@*CONCLUSION@#The estimated prevalences of OSAHS in elder people were high. Actively promoting good habits to older people, weight loss, early detection and correct upper airway abnormalities may reduce the estimated prevalence of OSAHS. In the treatment process, the patient's physician should pay attention to their emotional and groom their psychological problems to improve the quality of life in elder people.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the association between expression of PHH3 and CyclinD1 and their significance in breast invasive ductal carcinoma. Methods Immunostoemical MaxVision staining was used to detect the expression of PHH3 and CyclinD1 in 89 samples of breast invasive ductal carcinoma and 30 samples of normal breast tissues. The correlation was then analyzed between the expression of PHH3 and CyclinD1 and the clinical path-ological parameters as well as prognosis. Results The positive rate of PHH3 in breast invasive ductal carcinoma tis-sues(68 /89,76.4%)was significantly higher than that in normal breast tissues(2 /30,6.7%)(χ2 =45.051,P 0.05 )and the tumor diameter(χ2 =0.014,P >0.05 ).The positive rate of CyclinD1 in breast invasive ductal carcinoma tissues(62 /89,69.7%)was significantly higher than that in normal breast tissues(3 /10,10.0%)(χ2 =32.223,P 0.05)and the tumor diameter (χ2 =1.836,P >0.05).The expression of PHH3 was directly correlated to the CyclinD1 (r =0.497,P <0.05). Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that the expression of PHH3 was negatively correlated with prognosis.Log-Rank test indicated that there was significant difference(χ2 =10.468,P <0.05),CyclinD1 was negatively correlated with prog-nosis.Log-Rank test indicated that there was significant difference (χ2 =7.906,P <0.05 ).Conclusion High expression of PHH3 and CyclinD1 may be correlated with evolution and metastasis of breast invasive ductal carcino-ma.Combined analysis of PHH3 and CyclinD1 may provide a theoretical basis for prognostic information and treatment of patients with breast cancer.

ABSTRACT

Objctive To evaluate therapeutic effect of periocline ointment as an auxiliary treatment of adult serious chronic periodontitis. Methods 56 patients were divided into the test group and the control group in register sequence. Following initial therapy, patients in the test group were treated with PERIOCLINE into the periodontal pocket once a week for 4 weeks, while patients in the control group were treated with iodine glycerine. At the baseline level, the indexes of PLI,SBI,PD,AL were recorded and compared between the two groups on the 1st month, 3rd month and 6th month. Results All the indices of both groups were improved, compared with the baseline ( <0.05) . The results of the test group were better than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (<0.05) . Conclusion Periocline ointment as an auxiliary treatment of adult serious chronic periodontitis is superior to compounded iodine glycerine in the amelioration of all the indices.

ABSTRACT

Numerous peptides that bind to a given target have been selected by phage display technology. However, some peptides isolated to date do not bind with high affinity to tumor or organ sites, even peptides were selected in vivo. Therefore, the biodistribution of 99mTc-labeled filamentous phage peptide library via MAG3 (mercaptoacetyltriglycine) were investigated to gain a better understanding of phage circulation in vivo. The experimental results showed that the liver and spleen were the organs of the greatest accumulation, while heart, muscle, pancreas and brain retained less radioactivity. In opposite to other tissues and organs, the radioactivity in stomach, intestine and bone gradually went up with time. The clearance of 99mTc-labeled phage in blood was very fast from 5 min to 30 min and then slowed down. When phage in vivo circulated at enough long period of time, some phage particles could extravasate in some organs or tissues and internalized there. In conclusion, the circulation time of phage in vivo should be experimentally determined beforehand according to the targeted organs and the specific location of target peptides in order to panning a peptide with high specificity and affinity to that target.

ABSTRACT

This study was undertaken to investigate mother-to-infant transmission of human parvovirus B19 and the significance of prevalence of B19 virus in abnormal fetuses in Guandong. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR)was established to detect parvovirus B19 DNA in 700 sera from 350 maternal-infant pair groups. The prevalence of B19 virus DNA was 1.14% (4/350)and 0.28%(1/350)in the sera of pregnant women and cord blood of their neonates respectively. Parvovirus B19 DNA sequences were also detected in abnormal fetuses and new-born by PCR. The positive results were obtained in 5 samples of fetal tissues from 17 abnormal fetuses and in 3 those of neonatal tissues from 7 cases of neonatal death. The amplified products of PCR were identified to be the target DNA with Hae Ⅲ digestion. By in situ hybridization ,parvovirus DNA could be detected mainly in the nuclei of immature hematopoetic cells within fetal brain or spleen whose PCR tests were positive. The study results suggest that human parvovirus B19 infection does exist in maternal-infant transmission in Guangdong and might lead to harm on fetuses, but the prevalence rate of B19 virus may be very low. The evaluation of B19 virus infection might depend on reliable assay to determine present infection or past infection.
