ABSTRACT

Objective To analyse the clinical features of pelvic insufficiency fractures (PIF) in patients with cervical cancer after radiotherapy and explore the risk factors affecting its occurrence .Methods 55 cases of patients with cervical cancer that used radia-tion therapy as a single treatment were chosen in our hospital from February 2007 to May 2010 and the clinical features were ana-lysed;The fractures of spine ,sacrum ,sacroiliac joint ,ilium and pubis and femoral were observed and the density of fifth lumbar (L5 ) vertebrae ,left and right sacrum were detected via the CT or MRI (Hounsfield Unit)after 2-year follow-up ,the different factors on the incidence of PIF were explored .Results 12 cases (19 sites) of patients in 55 patients occured PIF after follow-up 2years ,the cumulative incidence was 21 .82% ;the distribution of PIF parts were followed :lumbar vertebrae had 5 cases ,sacral had 5 cases ,pu-bis had 4 cases ,sacroiliac joint had 2 cases ,iliac had 2 cases and femoral head had 1 case .The incidence rate of PIF that density of fifth lumbar vertebrae was ≤130 HU and >130 HU were 16 .36% and 5 .45% respectively ,the PIF′incidence rate that density of left side of sacrum was≤ -35 HU and > -35 HU were 18 .18% and 3 .64% respectively ,the incidence rate of PIF that density of right side of sacrum was ≤ -35 HU and > -35 HU were 20 .00% and 1 .82% respectively ,the density of the three parts all had statistical difference on the incidence of PIF (P<0 .05) .Univariate analysis showed that menopausal status and the average density of CT had statistical effects on PIF (P<0 .05);Multiple analysis showed that the average density of CT was the independent factors affecting PIF′incidence after radiotherapy .Conclusion The patients with cervical cancer may occur pelvic insufficiency fracture af-ter radiotherapy ,and its incidence is related to menopausal status and bone mineral density .

ABSTRACT

Thyroid B-ultrasound and urinary iodine content were examined in 4390 male workers aged 18-62 years-old,who participated annual physical checkups in 2009 and 2010.The results suggest that there is no obvious relationship between the urinary iodine which represents the iodine intake within 24 hours and prevalence of thyroidnodale. However, the prevalence of thyroid nodules shows an upward trend with the advance of age.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the clinical outcomes of facial nerve decompression via transmastoid, extra labyrinthine, subtemporal approach for management of facial paralysis in temporal bone fracture.@*METHOD@#Twenty-six cases of traumatic facial paralysis (House-Brackmann grade III-V) hospitalized between January 2006 and April 2008 received facial nerve decompression surgery. There were 4 patients diagnosed as House-Braekmann Grade III, 12 as Grade V in and 10 as Grade VI. The preoperative mean air conduction threshold was 52 dB in 16 cases with longitudinal temporal bone fracture and serious sensorineural heating loss in 10 cases with transverse temporal bone fracture. The fracture lines were detected in 13 cases by temporal bone axial CT scans and ossicular disruption could be determined in 9 cases by virtual endoscopy. The geniculate ganglion, the tympanic and mastoid segment of the facial nerve displayed an irregular morphology in curved planar reformation images of the facial nerve canal.@*RESULT@#All cases had primary healing and no complication occurred. At following-up times ranging from 0.5 to 3 years (average 1.2 years), facial nerve function recovered to House-Brackmann Grades I in 15, II in 6, III in 5. Overall air conduction pure tone averages improved 33 dB.@*CONCLUSION@#Facial nerve decompression with rebuilding of ossicular chain through transmastoid, extralabyrinthine, subtemporal approach is a good approach for the treatment of facial paralysis in temporal bone fracture.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To determine compatible stability of Fructose injection mixed with 5 kinds of drugs respectively,i.e. cefradine for injection, ribavirin injection, aciclovir for injection and levofloxacin hydrochloride for injection, penicillin for injection. METHODS:UV spectrophotometry was applied to investigate appearance,pH value, content and insoluble particle of mixtures. RESULTS:There was no significant change in respect of appearance,pH value and content after Fructose injection mixed with cefradine for injection, ribavirin injection, aciclovir for injection, penicillin for injection respectively. Results of study showed good compatible stability of mixtures. The content and pH value were decreased after Fructose injection mixed with levofloxacin hydrochloride for injection and precipitation was found in mixture. CONCLUSION:Fructose injection mixed with cefradine for injection, ribavirin injection, aciclovir for injection, penicillin for injection are stable and reliable. It should be careful to apply the mixture of Fructose injection with levofloxacin hydrochloride for injection.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the characteristics and regularity of adverse drug reactions (ADR) occurred in our hospital. METHODS: 286 ADR cases collected from our hospital from Jan. 2007 to Jun. 2009 were analyzed statistically. RESULTS: There were 3 severe ADR cases. 213 ADR cases were caused by anti-infection agents in our hospital (74.48%), followed by 38 ADR cases caused by TCM preparations (13.29%). Main clinical manifestation of ADR cases were lesion of skin and its appendants in 146 cases (44.92%), followed by 62 cases of lesion of digestive system (19.08%). 202 ADR cases were caused by intravenous administration (70.63%). CONCLUSION: Pharmaceutical monitoring and administration system should be established and improved. Great importance should be attached to ADR monitoring to reduced the incidence of ADR in our hospital.
