ABSTRACT

Objective@#The study aims to explore the neural mechanism of cognitive differences in college students with posttraumatic stress disorder under verbal fluency task based on functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), so as to provide neuroimaging support for the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD).@*Methods@#Posttaumatic Stress Disorder Checklist Combat(PCL-C) was used to screen the subjects, including 21 students in PTSD group (PCL-C≥38) and 30 students in control group from September to Novenber in 2020. A 53 channel near infrared spectroscopy device was used to collect cerebral blood oxygen signals under the verbal fluency task, and correlation analysis, Mann Whitney U test and independent sample t test were performed on the results.@*Results@#The difference in the total average score of PCL-C Scale between PTSD group and the control group(46.38±6.96,25.57±6.09) was statistically significant ( t=11.33, P <0.05). Correlation analysis showed that Avg-HbO in left dorsolateral prefrontal lobe was negatively correlated with PCL-C Score ( r=-0.37, P <0.05). Mann Whitney U test showed that in the left dorsolateral prefrontal lobe (Ch6), the Avg-HbO change in PTSD group [0.19(-0.09, 0.86)mmol/(L〖KG*7〗·mm)] was significantly lower than the control group [0.79( 0.37 , 1.47)mmol/(L ·mm)] ( Z=2.16, P <0.05), which was statistically significant.@*Conclusions@#The degree of PTSD was negatively correlated with the index of oxygenated hemoglobin in the left dorsolateral prefrontal lobe, and the oxygenated hemoglobin content in the PTSD group was lower than that in the normal group. In the future, fNIRS may be used to collect blood oxygen signals from the left dorsolateral prefrontal lobe in cognitive tasks to provide imaging evidence for the identification of PTSD.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#Functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) was used to assess brain oxygenated hemoglobin (Oxy Hb) activation in college students with different sleep quality under the verbal fluency task (VFT), so as to better provide a theoretical basis for the neural mechanism for sleep quality improvement of college students.@*Methods@#A simple random sampling method was used to investigate 96 college students from one university during 2020 and 2021. According to the results of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI), participants were divided into 3 groups: good sleep quality group( n =45), moderate group( n =33), and poor group( n =18). The 53 channel near infrared spectroscopy to collect cerebral blood oxygen signals under the VFT task. Association between oxygenated hemoglobin with sleep quality was analyzed.@*Results@#About 18.75% of college students reported sleep quality problems, including long sleep latency (0.97±0.97) and poor subjective sleep quality (0.96±0.72). There was a significant negative correlation between PSQI score and average oxygenated hemoglobin (Avg HbO) index of dorsolateral prefrontal lobe ( r =-0.23, P =0.03). The Avg HbO index differed significantly between good and poor sleep quality groups on dorsolateral prefrontal lobe( P =0.05).@*Conclusion@#This study verified that there is a positive correlation between sleep quality and cognitive ability among college students. The fNIRS technique could accurately collect blood oxygen signals from dorsolateral prefrontal lobe during cognitive tasks, which proves to be an effective tool for identifying sleep quality of college students.

ABSTRACT

Objective:This study aims to investigate the effect of triptonide (TN) on proliferation, cell cycle, apoptosis and expressions of apoptosis-related proteins of human acute monocytic leukemia(AML) cell line SHI-1, and to explore its possible mechanism of action. Method:The thiazolyl blue (MTT) colorimetric assay was applied to detect the inhibitory effect of 20,40,80,160,320 nmol·L<sup>-1</sup> triptonide on the proliferation of SHI-1 cells for 48, 72 h. Changes in SHI-1 cell cycle before and after triptonide treatment were detected by flow cytometry propidium iodide (PI) simple staining, and changes in SHI-1 cell apoptosis before and after triptonide treatment were detected by flow cytometry with AnnexinV/PI double staining. Western blot was applied to detect the protein expression of cysteine protease (Caspase)-3, Caspase-8 and nuclear transcription factor kappaB(NF-<italic>κ</italic>B) in SHI-1 cells before and after treatment with 80, 160 nmol·L<sup>-1 </sup>triptonide. Result:Compared with the blank group, 40,80,160,320 nmol·L<sup>-1</sup> triptonide significantly inhibited the proliferation of SHI-1 cells(<italic>P</italic><0.01) in a dose-dependent manner for 48, 72 h, while 160, 320 nmol·L<sup>-1 </sup> triptonide induced apoptosis of SHI-1 cells(<italic>P</italic><0.01) for 48, 72 h, and 160 nmol·L<sup>-1</sup> triptonide could decrease the S phase ratio of SHI-1 cells(<italic>P</italic><0.01). In addition, compared with the blank group, 80,160 nmol·L<sup>-1</sup> triptonide induced the downregulation of NF-<italic>κ</italic>B significantly(<italic>P</italic><0.01), 160 nmol·L<sup>-1</sup> triptonide induced the downregulation of Caspase-3, Caspase-8 significantly(<italic>P</italic><0.01). Conclusion:Triptonide can inhibit the proliferation and induce apoptosis <italic>in vitro</italic> of SHI-1 cells, which may be related to the reduction of the cells in S phase proportion by triptonide, and the downregulation of the expression levels of Caspase-3, Caspase-8 and NF-<italic>κ</italic>B proteins.

ABSTRACT

The root of Tripterygium wilfordii has the effect in dispelling wind and eliminating dampness. Now it is mostly used in the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus and other diseases. Triptonide is a diterpene small molecule compound extracted from T. wilfordii. In the early years, it was studied as a potential drug with anti-inflammatory and anti-reproductive effects. Recently, researchers found that its anti-tumor effect was particularly prominent because triptonide could inhibit the growth of a variety of tumors with different mechanisms at the nanomole dose, with a potential to be used as a broad-spectrum anti-cancer drug. In addition, due to the low yield from T. wilfordii, low bioavailability due to poor water solubility and anti-reproductive side effect as an antitumor drug, it will become study hotspots to exploring its synthesis and preparation and modifying its structure to reduce cost, improve bioavailability and reduce side effect, while maintaining its pharmacological activity. The authors reviewed domestic and foreign studies and patents on triptonide, and summarized its pharmacological activity and mechanism. It is found that although current studies on triptonide are still in the preliminary stage, there have been increasingly more studies on its anti-tumor mechanism year by year since 2014. This paper mainly introduces the antitumor pharmacological activity and mechanism of triptonide. In addition, it reviews anti-inflammatory, immunosuppression and anti-reproductive pharmacological effect of triptonide, as well as the existing studies on its toxicity, synthesis and structural modification. The authors put forward some personal ideas on its future study direction, in the hope to provide thinking and inspirations for other researchers and provide references for further development and research.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the effects of arsenic trioxide combined with dihydroartemisinin on proliferation, cell cycle, and apoptosis of THP-1 cells, and explore the mechanism. Method:The thiazolyl blue (MTT) method was applied to detect the effect of different concentrations of arsenic trioxide, dihydroartemisinin and arsenic trioxide combined with dihydroartemisinin on the proliferation of THP-1 cells. Annexin V/propidium iodide(PI)assay was used to detect the change of THP-1 cell cycle and apoptosis.Western blot was performed to assess the expression of cysteine protease-3(Caspase-3), cleaved Caspase-3, B-lymphocytoma-2(Bcl-2) and Bcl-2 associated X protein (Bax). The changes of cell morphology were observed under high intension microscope. Result:Compared with blank group, arsenic trioxide and dihydroartemisinin both exhibited obvious antiproliferative effect on the human acute monocytic leukemia cell line THP-1 in time-dose dependence (P<0.01). After 48 h, compared with the same dose of arsenic trioxide or that of dihydroartemisinin alone, the inhibition effect of 1 µmol·L-1 arsenic trioxide combined with 2 µmol·L-1 dihydroartemisinin on proliferation of THP-1 cells was significantly stronger (P<0.01). Compared with the control group, arsenic trioxide combined with dihydroartemisinin significantly arrested the cells in G1 phase (P<0.01), induced the downregulation of Caspase-3 and Bcl-2 (P<0.01) and upregulation of cleaved Caspase-3 significantly(P<0.05). Conclusion:Arsenic trioxide combined with dihydroartemisinin can significantly inhibit the proliferation and induce apoptosis of THP-1 cells. The possible mechanism may be related to arrest the cells in G1 phase, reduce the expression of Caspase-3 and Bcl-2, increase the expression of cleaved Caspase-3.

ABSTRACT

Imperatorin, which is extracted from umbelliferous plants such as Radix Angelicae Dahuricae, Radix Saposhnikoviae and Fructus Cnidii, belongs to furanocoumarins and is especially rich in Radix Angelicae Dahuricae. Research has shown that imperatorin possesses functions of anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antibactrial, antiviral, antiallergic, anti-tumor, reverse drug resistance in tumor cells, interaction with drug metabolizing enzymes, affecting cardiovascular and nervous system effect. It is also one of the standard components in quality control of various analgesics. In recent years, research findings related to imperatorin is increasing fast. A number of patent applications have been approved for the application of imperatorin in the treatment of anti-tumor and cardiovascular diseases. In addition, since the water insolubility of imperatorin affects its bioavailability, most researchers have gradually attached importance to this aspect of research, such as modifying its structure or synthesizing its derivatives. The literatures on the pharmacological effects and mechanisms of imperatorin at home and abroad in recent years were consulted and summarized in this paper. Imperatorin was found not only to display other pharmacological effects like furanocoumarins but also could cure osteoporosis, skin diseases and show photosensitization. Moreover, the mechanism of its action has the effect of multi-pathway and multi-target, but most of the studies have not identified its targets, which still needs further study. Extensive and significant pharmacological effect make imperatorin show a great potential for development of new drugs. This paper reviews the basic properties, the progress on pharmacological effects and mechanisms of imperatorin, proposes the research status and direction of future reseach. Hopes to provide ideas for researchers and beneficial references for the future development and utilization of imperatorin.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>Background:</b>Patients with potential difficult mask ventilation (DV) and difficult intubation (DI) are often managed with awake intubation, which can be stressful for patients and anesthesiologists. This prospective randomized study evaluated a new approach, fast difficult airway evaluation (FDAE). We hypothesized that the FDAE approach would reduce the need for awake intubation.</p><p><b>Methods:</b>After obtaining informed consent, 302 patients with potential DV/DI undergoing elective surgeries were randomly assigned to the FDAE group (Group E) and the control group (Group C). In Group E, patients were gradually sedated, and adequacy of manual mask ventilation during spontaneous breathing was assessed at various sedation levels. Awake intubation was applied in those with inadequate mask ventilation. In Group C, DI was evaluated under local anesthesia. However, the care team could intubate under general anesthesia if the vocal cords were visible. The primary outcome was the rate of awake intubations in both groups and the induction efficiency assessed by the induction time. The secondary outcome was the incidence of serious complications.</p><p><b>Results</b>The rate of awake intubation was significantly lower in Group E than that in Group C (5.81% vs. 36.05%, χ = 42.3, P < 0.001). The induction time was much shorter in Group E than in Group C (11.85 ± 4.82 min vs. 18.71 ± 7.85 min, t = 5.39, P < 0.001). There was no significant difference in the incidence of intubation related complications between the two groups. Patients in Group E had a much lower incidence of recall (9.68% vs. 44.90%, χ = 47.68, P < 0.001) of the induction process and higher satisfaction levels than patients in Group C (t = 15.36, P < 0.001).</p><p><b>Conclusions</b>The FDAE significantly reduces the need for awake intubation and improves the efficiency of the intubation process without comprising safety in patients with potential difficult mask ventilation and DI.</p><p><b>Trial Registration:</b>No. ChiCTR-TRC-11001418; http://www.gctr.org/cn/proj/show.aspx?proj=1562.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective: To compare glottis exposure of the same patients with potentially difficult tracheal intubation [PDTI] subjected to Airtraq laryngoscopy and Macintosh laryngoscopy under consciousness and topical anesthesia


Methods: A total of 147 PDTI patients with American Society of Anesthesiologists [ASA] I-III were subjected to Airtraq and Macintosh laryngoscopy performed by experienced anesthesiologists under consciousness and topical anesthesia


Results: All patients were successfully intubated. Among them, three patients were intubated with fiberoptic bronchoscopy, 13 with Macintosh laryngoscopy and 131 with Airtraq laryngoscopy. Of the patients with Cormack and Lehance [C and L] Grade-I glottic view, 88 were subjected to Airtraq laryngoscopy and five to Macintosh laryngoscopy; Of the patients with C and L Grade-II glottic view, 56 were subjected to Airtraq laryngoscopy and 21 to Macintosh bronchoscopy; Of the patients with C and L Grade-III glottic view, three were subjected to Airtraq laryngoscopy and 112 to Macintosh bronchoscopy; Of the patients with C and L Grade-IV glottic view, none was subjected to Airtraq laryngoscopy and 9 to Macintosh laryngoscopy

ABSTRACT

The chemical property of cinnamaldehyde is unstable in vivo, although early experiments have shown its obvious therapeutic effects on viral myocarditis (VMC). To overcome this problem, we used cinnamaldehyde as a leading compound to synthesize derivatives. Five derivatives of cinnamaldehyde were synthesized: 4-methylcinnamaldehyde (1), 4-chlorocinnamaldehyde (2), 4-methoxycinnamaldehyde (3), α-bromo-4-methylcinnamaldehyde (4), and α-bromo-4-chlorocinnamaldehyde (5). Neonatal rat cardiomyocytes and HeLa cells infected by coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) were used to evaluate their antiviral and cytotoxic effects. In vivo BALB/c mice were infected with CVB3 for establishing VMC models. Among the derivatives, compound 4 and 5 inhibited the CVB3 in HeLa cells with the half-maximal inhibitory concentrations values of 11.38 ± 2.22 μM and 2.12 ± 0.37 μM, respectively. The 50% toxic concentrations of compound 4 and 5-treated cells were 39-fold and 87-fold higher than in the cinnamaldehyde group. Compound 4 and 5 effectively reduced the viral titers and cardiac pathological changes in a dose-dependent manner. In addition, compound 4 and 5 significantly inhibited the secretion, mRNA and protein expressions of inflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 in CVB3-infected cardiomyocytes, indicating that brominated cinnamaldehyde not only improved the anti-vital activities for VMC, but also had potent anti-inflammatory effects in cardiomyocytes induced by CVB3.

ABSTRACT

The canonical transient receptor potential channels (TRPCs) constitute a series of nonselective cation channels with variable degrees of Ca2+ selectivity. TRPCs consist of seven mammalian members, TRPC1, TRPC2, TRPC3, TRPC4, TRPC5, TRPC6, and TRPC7, which are further divided into four subtypes, TRPC1, TRPC2, TRPC4/5, and TRPC3/6/7. These channels take charge of various essential cell functions such as contraction, relaxation, proliferation, and dysfunction. This review, organized into seven main sections, will provide an overview of current knowledge about the underlying pathogenesis of TRPCs in cardio/cerebrovascular diseases, including hypertension, pulmonary arterial hypertension, cardiac hypertrophy, atherosclerosis, arrhythmia, and cerebrovascular ischemia reperfusion injury. Collectively, TRPCs could become a group of drug targets with important physiological functions for the therapy of human cardio/cerebro-vascular diseases.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>BACKGROUND</b>Sarpogrelate is a selective 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) receptor subtype 2A antagonist which blocks 5-HT induced platelet aggregation and proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells. We compared the efficacy of sarpogrelate-based dual antiplatelet therapies for the prevention of restenosis and target lesion revascularization (TLR) rates comparing with that of clopidogrel after percutaneous endovascular interventions (EVIs) of femoropopliteal (FP) arterial lesions.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>This prospective, multicenter, randomized clinical trial recruited a total of 120 patients with successful EVI of FP lesions at seven centers across China between January 2011 and June 2012. Patients were randomized to receive either sarpogrelate (100 mg trice daily for 6 months, n = 63) or clopidogrel (75 mg once daily for 6 months, n = 57). All patients also received oral aspirin (100 mg once daily for 12 months). Clinical follow-up was conducted up to 12 months postprocedure.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>There was no significant difference between the two groups in basic demographic data. The restenosis rate was higher in the clopidogrel group (22.80%) than in sarpogrelate group (17.50%), but there was no significant difference between these two groups (P = 0.465). The TLR rate, ipsilateral amputation rate, mortality in all-cause and bleeding rate were also similar in the two groups (P > 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Aspirin plus sarpogrelate is a comparable antithrombotic regimen to aspirin plus clopidogrel after EVI of FP arterial lesions. Dual antiplatelet therapies might play an important role in preventing restenosis after successful EVI of FP lesions.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>BACKGROUND</b>Catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT) has been a mainstay in treating deep venous thrombosis (DVT). However, the optimal dosage of a thrombolytic agent is still controversial. The goal of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of low dosage urokinase with CDT for DVT.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>A retrospective analysis was performed using data from a total of 427 patients with DVT treated with CDT in our single center between July 2009 and December 2012. Early efficacy of thrombolysis was assessed with a thrombus score based on daily venography. The therapeutic safety was evaluated by adverse events. A venography or duplex ultrasound was performed to assess the outcome at 6 months, 1 year and 2 years postoperatively.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The mean total dose of 3.34 (standard deviation [SD] 1.38) million units of urokinase was administered during a mean of 5.18 (SD 2.28) days. Prior to discharge, Grade III (complete lysis) was achieved in 154 (36%) patients; Grade II (50-99% lysis) in 222 (52%); and Grade I (50% lysis) in 51 (12%). The major complications included one intracranial hemorrhage, one hematochezia, five gross hematuria, and one pulmonary embolism. Moreover, no death occurred in the study.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Treatment of low-dose catheter-directed thrombosis is an efficacious and safe therapeutic approach in patients with DVT offering good long-term outcomes and minimal complications.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the type and frequency of mutations in exon 7 of phenylalanine hydroxylase (PAH) gene among children with phenylketonuria (PKU) in Ningxia, China and to provide a basis for the genetic diagnosis and prenatal diagnosis of PKU in this region.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Direct sequencing of PCR product was performed to analyze the sequences of exon 7 and its flanking introns of 146 PAH alleles in 73 children with typical PKU (39 cases of Hui nationality and 34 cases of Han nationality) in Ningxia.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Six mutations were detected, including R243Q (14.4%), R241C (6.8%), IVS7+2T→A (2.7%), L255S (0.7%), G247V (0.7%), and G247R (0.7%). The overall frequency of mutations (missense mutation and splice site mutation) in exon 7 was 26.0% (38/146). The detection rate of R241C mutation was significantly higher in children of Hui nationality than in children of Han nationality(10% vs 3%; P<0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>In Ningxia, R243Q mutation in exon 7 of PAH gene is most common in children with PKU, followed by R241C. The frequency of R241C mutation in exon 7 of PAH gene varies between children with PKU of Hui and Han nationality.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To explore the efficacy and safety of 980 nm diode laser vaporization in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>We treated 92 BPH patients by 980 nm diode laser vaporization. The patients were aged 65 - 89 years, with a mean prostate volume of (50.1 +/- 13.0) ml. We analyzed and compared the mean operation time, intra-operative blood loss, postoperative complications, international prostate symptom score (IPSS), quality of life (QOL) score, maximum urine flow rate (Qmax), and post void residual (PVR) before and after surgery.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Operations were successful in all the 92 cases, with an average operation time of (70.2 +/- 16.9) min, very little blood loss and no blood transfusion. The transurethral catheter indwelling time was 2 -5 (2.4 +/- 0.3) days. The patients were followed up for 1 to 3 months, which revealed a significant reduction in IPPS (P < 0.01) and improvement in Qmax and PVR (P < 0.01) as compared with preoperation. No severe complications were reported, including urinary incontinence and bladder irritation symptoms. None of the patients complained of impaired erectile function.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Transurethral 980 nm diode laser vaporization is a safe and effective treatment for BPH.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>BACKGROUND</b>Catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT) for deep venous thrombosis (DVT) of the lower extremity has good effect, but whether iliac vein stent placement after thrombolytic therapy is still controversial. The goal of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of stent placement in the iliac vein following CDT in lower extremity DVT.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>This was a single-center, prospective, randomized controlled clinical trial. After receiving CDT, the major branch of the distal iliac vein was completely patent in 155 patients with lower extremity DVT, and 74 of these patients with iliac vein residual stenosis of >50% were randomly divided into a control group (n = 29) and a test group (n = 45). In the test group, stents were implanted in the iliac vein, whereas no stents were implanted in the control group. We evaluated the clinical indicators, including patency of the deep vein, C in CEAP classification, Venous Clinical Severity Score (VCSS), and Chronic Venous Insufficiency Questionnaire (CIVIQ) Score.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>All patients had postoperative follow-up visits for a period of 6-24 months. Venography or color ultrasound was conducted in subjects. There was a significant difference between the patency rate at the last follow-up visit (87.5% vs. 29.6%) and the 1-year patency rate (86.0% vs. 54.8%) between the test and control groups. The change in the C in CEAP classification pre- and post-procedure was significantly different between the test and control groups (1.61 ± 0.21 vs. 0.69 ± 0.23). In addition, at the last follow-up visit, VCSS and CIVIQ Score were both significantly different between the test and control groups (7.57 ± 0.27 vs. 0.69 ± 0.23; 22.67 ± 3.01 vs. 39.34 ± 6.66, respectively).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The stenting of iliac vein obstruction following CDT in lower extremity DVT may increase the patency of the deep vein, and thus provides better efficacy and quality of life.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To discuss the cause and treatment of acute limb ischemia in endovascular therapy of the lower extremity arterial occlusive disease.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Clinical data of 54 cases of acute limb ischemia in the endovascular treatment of 685 cases of lower extremity arterial occlusive disease from June 2003 to April 2012 was analyzed retrospectively. There were 43 male and 11 female patients, with a mean age of 72.3 years (ranging from 56 to 82 years). The major causes which resulted in acute limb ischemia included: arterial embolization of 43 cases, arterial thrombosis of 8 cases, arterial dissection of 3 cases. The acute limb ischemia occurred in the process of balloon angioplasty/stent in 36 cases, catheter-directed thrombolysis in 17 cases, Silverhawk atherectomy in 1 cases. Thirty-two cases were treated by endovascular treatment, 9 cases by surgical procedures (bypass or embolectomy), 13 cases by the combination of endovascular therapy and surgical procedures.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Treatment were successfully accomplished in 50 of 54 cases, and failed in 4 cases which had surgical amputation. There were no deaths in all the patients. Forty-five of 54 cases were followed up for the average of 40.3 months. Six cases had ischemic symptoms recurrence in 43 artery embolization patients, in whom 4 cases were cured by endovascular treatment, 2 cases were cured by toe amputation. One case of bypass anastomotic stenosis and one case of stent restenosis were successfully cured by endovascular treatment in 8 arterial thrombosis patients. One cases of below-knee artery stent occlusion in 3 arterial dissection patients was cured by medical treatment. Four cases of amputation patients were followed up in good condition.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Most patients of acute limb ischemia complicated in endovascular therapy could be treated by endovascular therapy. Surgical procedures in time is still the best choice for the patients in whom the endovascular therapy was not satisfied.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the growth status of children under 7 years in Wuzhong City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, China and its influential factors, and to provide a basis for related intervention measures.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Children under 7 years were selected from two county-level districts in Wuzhong by stratified cluster sampling, and their growth status were evaluated by the Z score method.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The prevalence rates of growth retardation, underweight, and wasting were 12.58%, 5.71%, and 5.55% respectively. The height-for-age Z score, weight-for-age Z score, and weight-for-height Z scores were -0.26±2.50, 0.29±4.54. and 0.65±3.02 respectively. There were significant differences in the prevalence rate of wasting among children of different ethnic groups (P<0.05); also, there were significant differences in the prevalence rates of growth retardation and underweight among children from different regions and with different age (P<0.05). The main influential factors for growth retardation were region (OR=0.369, P<0.001), ethnic groups (OR=1.694, P=0.027), and age (OR=1.143, P=0.002). The main influential factors for underweight were region (OR=0.453, P=0.001) and age (OR=1.204,P=0.002). The main influential factor for wasting was nation (OR=1.735, P=0.024).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>In Wuzhong, children under 7 years have poor growth status, which are related to ethnic groups, region, and age.</p>
