ABSTRACT

Objective To understand the status of hand hygiene(HH)of health care workers(HCWs)in a tertiary hospital in Zhuhai.Methods HH compliance of doctors,nurses,and cleaners randomly selected from 15 clinical de-partments in the whole hospital was observed through concealed observation by medical interns in October-Novem-ber 2016.Results HH compliance rate and correct rate of clinical departments in the whole hospital were 33.44%(1 131/3 382)and 59.86%(677/1 131)respectively,there was a significant difference in the compliance rate of HH among different types of HCWs (χ2 =12.610,P=0.002),HH compliance rate from high to low was nurses (35.85%),cleaners (32.28%),and doctors (29.50%).Of five HH moments,HCWs’HH compliance rate after patient’s body fluid exposure was the highest (69.74%),while after touching patient surroundings was the worst (25.03%).HH compliance rates of HCWs with different occupations at different HH moments were all significant-ly different (all P<0.05),HH compliance rates of doctors before aseptic procedure and after patient’s body fluid exposure were higher than nurses(71.25% vs 32.44%;82.86% vs 69.78%,respectively),HH compliance rate of nurses was highest after touching a patient(40.06%).Conclusion HH status in this hospital is not optimistic,HH compliance rate and correct rate are low,HH compliance rates of HCWs with different occupations and at different HH moments are both different,which need to be improved.

ABSTRACT

Objective] To analyze the implementation effect of the Global Fund for tuberculosis ( TB) control project on designated hospital , and provide basis and recommendation for TB control in Wenzhou City of Zhejiang Province . [ Methods] According to the data from the National TB Manage-ment Information System,quarterly reports of project were collected and analyzed . [Results] The X-ray check rate and sputum test rate of newly diagnosed patients both reached more than 97%.The registration rate of active pulmonary TB and smear-positive TB were 71.45 per 100 000 and 26.41 per 100 000.A total of 1 393 new smear-positive pulmonary TB cases were detected .The completion of case finding target for new smear-positive pulmonary TB was 119.67%.The cure rate and treatment success rate for new smear-positive cases were 88.08%and 90.52%.And 1 657 cases have accepted psychological support .The psychological support rates were 36 .05%.A total of 39 361 person times for TB cases received free liver function test , and the test rate was 100%. [ Conclusion ] This project was implemented well in Wenzhou , and obtained good achievement .The discovery of new smear-positive patients , treatment outcome , psychological support and free liver function test for TB patients have reached the project requirements .

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the adherence, proliferation and osteogenesis of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) cultured on different HA/ZrO2 composites.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The simplex and graded HA/ZrO2 compo-sites were prepared using dry-laid method. The surface topography of the composites was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The MSCs were isolated from rabbits and cultured on experimental groups (simplex HA/ZrO2 composite, graded HA/ZrO2 composite, pure HA or pure ZrO2 coatings respectively) and control group (ordinary culture plate). Then, we observed the adherence, proliferation and osteogenesis of the MSCs, detected the cellular alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activities, extracted total RNA and detected the mRNA expression of collagen I, osteocalcin and osteopontin using the reverse transcription and polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The SEM images confirmed that the surface of the simplex HA/ZrO2 composite was coverd by discon-tiguous HA layer with clear visualization of the partial ZrO2 matrix, while the surface of the graded HA/ZrO2 composite was fairly rough with porosity. X-ray diffraction showed that after high temperature sintering, the ZrO2 phase still remained, while the HA phase was transformed to beta-Ca3(PO4)2 , alpha-Ca3(PO4)2 and CaZrO3 phases on the surface of both composites. Cell culture indicated that the HA/ZrO2 composites supported cell attachment. Neither ALP expression nor mRNA expression of collagen I, osteocalcin or osteopontin from RT-PCR results showed significant deviation among four groups.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Among these four composites, the graded HA/ZrO2 composite promotes the MSCs proliferation and the osteogenic differentiation to a certain extent.</p>

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To evaluate the clinical and pathological features of 94 children suffering from IgA nephropathy (IgAN) while estimating the prevalent situation in Hunan province.@*METHODS@#To summarize the annual number of hospitalized children, those with kidney diseases, those accepted biopsy, and those confirmed as IgAN in both Xiangya Hospital and Second Xiangya Hospital undertaking kidney biopsy in Hunan province during 1995 and 2004.@*RESULTS@#In the past 10 years, as the hospitalized population in both hospitals accrued to 9.98% each year. The rate of 7.5% was seen in those with kidney diseases. Among whom 56.3% accepted kidney biopsy and 94 of them were confirmed as IgAN. Hematuria was the main clinical presentation, seen in 71 cases, accounting to 76%, and even to 98% after excluding those with nephrotic syndrome and isolating proteinuria type of IgAN. Inflammation infiltration (91%), renal tubule degeneration (81%), and renal interstitial fibrosis (31%) were the major pathological features of 94 children, especially in nephrotic syndrome IgAN.@*CONCLUSION@#The number of children with IgAN synchronously accrues as hospitalized population, those with kidney diseases, and those by kidney biopsy. Hematuria is the major symptom. To routinely perform urine analysis and kidney biopsy in asymptomatic hematuria may improve the diagnosis. Inflammation infiltration, renal tubule degeneration, and renal interstitial fibrosis are the major pathological features in IgAN children, especially in nephrotic syndrome IgAN, probably relating to continuous proteinuria. Early control of proteinuria may delay or decrease renal tubule fibrosis.

AIM:To study the effect of berberin hydrochloride(Ber)on the elevation of blood concentra- tion of Cyclosporin A(CsA)and liver and renal functions in renal transplanted recipients.METHODS:138 cases with renal transplantation in experimental group were treated with CsA and Ber and 150 cases with renal trans- plantation in control group received CsA only.Blood lev- els of CsA,biochemistry indexes for liver and renal func- tion were determined.RESULTS:After 1,3,6 months combined with Ber,blood concentrations of CsA in pa- tients went up by 49.8%,81.4%,36.9% and the radios of blood concentration of CsA to CsA dosage increased 88.8%,102.0%,72.5% compared with those before taking Ber(P

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the effect of a novel orthopedic biomaterial,graded composite zireonia(ZrO2)hydroxyapatite(HAP)on activity of rat osteoblast ceils(OB)cultured in vitro. Methods The pure zirconia material was used as control to measure surface roughness of the composite material that was examined by using scanning electron microscope(SEM)and X-ray diffraetometer (XRD).The rat osteoblast cells were cultured on the two materials.Alkali phosphatase(ALP)of the two groups was measured and ELISA was used to detect IL-6 and TGF-?eoncentration of the supematant of OB cells.Tumor growth factor-?(TGF-?)mRNA was detected by RT-PCR.SEM was used to observe OB cells on the two materials.The extract of the composite material was used for a eytotoxicity test to cal- culate the relative proliferation rate(RGR)and classify the toxicity.Results The surface roughness of the gradual composite materials was significantly higher than that of the control materials(P<0.01). The ALP of the gradual material group was markedly higher than that of the control group at different in- tervals.There was significant difference of the IL-6 and TGF-?concentrations 2-4 days after culture be- tween two groups(P<0.05,P<0.01).The mRNA level of TGF-?of the two OB groups also showed marked statistical difference(P<0.01).The ossification of the OB cells on the composed material was marked after 14 days.The MTT color experiments showed no statistic significance between materials group and negative group,with the toxicity at levelⅠand 0(P<0.05).Conclusion Graded composite ZrO2 HAP can significantly promote proliferation and differentiation of OB cells cultured in vitro and has good biocompatibility.
