ABSTRACT

Stroke is the leading cause of death and disability. Therefore, it is critical to develop the approaches for improving recovery and neural repair after stroke. Recovery after stroke involves complex interrelated systems of neural repair. The whole process of neural repair requires a series of coordinated interactions, such as response of neuronal cell body to traumatic stimuli, neural stem cell proliferation and migration, axoplasmic transport of signaling molecules, construction of cytoskeleton, and formation of axonal growth cone, to achieve regeneration and growth. As a potential new target for the treatment of neurologic defects, neural remodeling has important research significance in both the specific mechanism of neural repair and the clinical treatment of neurologic defects. After brain injury, single therapy is often ineffective due to the complex mechanism of internal repair, and thus comprehensive therapy becomes the development direction to improve the brain repair. Invigorating qi and promoting blood can promote nerve function remodeling after injury through neural protection, angiogenesis, neurogenesis, loop reconstruction, and cytokine regulation, playing a key role in nerve repair after stroke. Its mechanism is associated with autophagy, immunomodulation, and microRNA regulation, which fully embodies the multi-pathway, multi-target, and overall regulation characteristics of invigorating Qi and activating blood. Therefore, it is of theoretical and guiding significance to study the brain function rehabilitation after stroke by invigorating qi and activating blood.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To evaluate an assay permitting amplification of target 5′-untranslated region (5′-UTR) sequences directly from clinical specimens and distinction among serotypes of enterovirus (EV).@*Methods@#A total of 518 rectal swabs and 148 nasal swabs tested positive by pan-enterovirus real-time PCR were collected. 5′-UTR and the viral protein 1 (VP1) gene fragments were amplified and sequenced separately for serotyping. The inconsistent samples by 5′-UTR and VP1 serotyping were further determined by using the serotype-specific RT-PCR.@*Results@#A total of 553 (83.0%) samples were detected by 5′-UTR serotyping and 318 (47.7%) were detected by VP1 serotyping in all 666 positive specimens, and there was significant difference in the detection rates between two methods in rectal and nasal swabs (P<0.001). For the rectal swabs, the mainly detected serotypes were CoxA6 (217), CoxA16 (88), EVA71 (40), CoxA10 (28) and CoxA4 (27) by 5′-UTR serotyping. Compared with the VP1 serotyping, the sensitivity and specificity of 5′-UTR serotyping were 57.1%-100% and 67.4%-98.1% respectively, with varied consistence with serotypes (kappa value 0.214-0.283). For the nasal swabs, the most frequently detected serotype was EVD68, with the sensitivity of 100%, the specificity of 91.1%, and the poor consistence (kappa value 0.217). CoxA6, CoxA16, EVA71, CoxA10 and EVD68 were further confirmed by serotype-specific RT-PCR. Using VP1 serotyping combined with serotype-specific RT-PCR as a reference method , the effect of performance of 5′-UTR serotyping on diagnosis was increased.@*Conclusions@#The performances of 5′-UTR serotyping in enterovirus vary with serotypes. The application of 5′-UTR serotyping should be considered comprehensively according to the purpose of the study.

ABSTRACT

This study was aimed to observe the body weight and behavioral changes of heart-spleen deficiency mouseandtoassesstheefficacyofLing-Qi-Jia (LQJ)oralsolutiononqi-supplementingandmind-tranquilizing. The heart-spleen deficiency syndrome mouse model was established by using loading swimming anddrugdaily.Thebodyweight, foodconsumption, intestinepropulsion, tailsuspensiontest (TST),forced swimmingtest (FST),sleepingtimeandtheamountofbrainneurotransmitterweredetected.Theresultsshowed that mouse suffered loading swimming and drug formed heart-spleen deficiency syndrome model, which were indicated by lowering body weight and food consumption, shortened time in FST, prolonged accumulative immobility time in TST, intestine propulsion hyperfunction, shortened sleeping time and lowering brain neurotransmitter amount. LQJ oral solution can obviously improve experiment indexes mentioned above. It was concluded that LQJ oral solution, which can improve insomnia due to heart-spleen deficiency, might had close relation to the efficacy of qi-supplementing and mind-tranquilizing. Meanwhile, changes of brain neurotransmitters might also be the material basis on its efficacy.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To observe the clinical treatment of supplementing qi and nourishing yin recipe and progestogen.</p><p><b>METHOD</b>One group was treated using traditional Chinese medicine decoction, which was made of Danshen, Shenghuangqi, Wuweizi, Baishao, Nvzhenzi, Hanliancao and Wuzeigu, and the other group was medroxyprogesterone acetate (depogeston).</p><p><b>RESULT</b>After 3 menstrual cycles of treatment, the recovery rate of the treatment group was 43.42%, with 27.63% of marked effectiveness,18.42% of positive effects, and 10.53% of inefficiency. The total effective rate was 89.47%. The recovery rate of the control group was 23%, with 47% of marked effectiveness, 20% of positive effects, and 10% of inefficiency. The total effective rate was 90.00%. With statistically comparison, there was no obvious difference. The treatment group was higher than the control group on the Chinese symptom, the two groups were significantly different (P < 0.05). The treatment group and the control group was no obvious difference on Hb, PLT, PT, APTT. The treatment group and the control group was no obvious difference on FSH, LH, E2, P.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Traditional Chinese medicine decoction should be recommended for its better therapeutic efficacy and stable clinical effects such as high recovery rate, significant improvement of symptom and no side effect and no adverse reaction.</p>

ABSTRACT

To establish guidelines to diagnosis and treatment for distending pain in breasts during menstruation in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). With Delphimethod, sent to the second survey questionnaires to 40 gynecology experts in TCM and integrated traditional and western medicine and recovery 35 experts, and the questionnaires were analyzed with SPSS11. 5. The experts' activity and professional level is high. The experts are from all over China and express the typical opinions of all experts in this field. The items in the frame of the guidelines to diagnosis and treatment for distending pain in breasts during menstruation in traditional Chinese medicine are generally recognized. First draft of the guidelines has basically been formed.
