ABSTRACT

Objective:To study the effectiveness and safety of combined intraoral and cutaneous using of long pulsed 1064 nm Nd∶YAG and 2940 nm Er∶YAG lasers in facial rejuvenation.Methods:Twenty-one female patients with different grades of nasolabial fold were treated with 6 sessions of the combination lasers therapy once a month. Standardized photographs of VISIA were taken before and after treatment to record any changes of facial contour and nasolabial folds. The efficacy assessment was judged by two non-group experienced dermatologists using modified Fitzpatrick Wrinkle Scale (MFWS), based on the VISIA photos at base line, twelve-week and six-month after treatment. Self-scoring of 5-level satisfaction from patients was also collected and analyzed. Any side effects and complications were recorded. Results:At 12 weeks, mild and moderate nasolabial folds were improved notably, the mean value of MFWS decreased from 1.59 to 0.90, whereas severe nasolabial folds had no remarkable improvement. Six-month after treatment, 18 patients had notable improved, among them: five out of 7 mild cases, 9 out of 10 moderate cases and 2 out of 4 severe cases, and the mean value of MFWS significantly decreased to 0.57 ( P<0.001). The general satisfactory rate of self-scoring was 86%. Two patients had tolerable light burning pain during treatment and two patients got temporary pigmentation that vanished in three months. There were no other adverse reactions and complications. Conclusion:Combined intraoral and cutaneous using oflong pulse 1064 nm Nd∶YAG laser and 2940 nm Er∶YAG laser is a safe and effective therapy for facial rejuvenation.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To make a quantitative evaluation on the short term effect of particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter no more than 2.5 μm (PM2.5) on cumulative excess mortality rate (CER) and years of life lost (YLL) in residents in Changping district of Beijing.@*Methods@#The death data in local residents, daily mortality, meteorology data and air pollution data (PM2.5, SO2 and NO2 concentrations) in Changping from 2014 to 2017 were collected. Distributed lag non-linear model was used to assess the age and gender specific cumulative lag effects of PM2.5 on cardiovascular CER and daily YLL in Changping.@*Results@#The effects of PM2.5 on cardiovascular CER and YLL were obvious on lag 7 days and lag 9 days, respectively, peaking on day 14, and lasting for 21 days. On lag0-21 days, for a 10 μg/m3 increase in PM2.5, the population based CER of cardiovascular disease death was 0.021% (95%CI: 0.004%-0.038%), and the YLL was 1.47 (95%CI: 0.23-2.70) years. Greater PM2.5 effect were observed in males and the elderly.@*Conclusion@#PM2.5 increased the risk of cardiovascular disease death and YLL.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:In spectral CT imaging study, the selection of scanning parameters is considered by most researchers, but the effects of measuring position are often overlooked. Actual measurement found that different measurement location had significant impact on the result of the measurement. Through measurement and mathematical model of a large amount of data, we can correct the measurement results of different location. The results with real data alignment are higher. OBJECTIVE:To explore effects of different measuring positions on results in spectral CT imaging, and to optimize correction coefficients. METHODS:GE standard water phantom was applied to orderly obtain 5 combined scanning parameters with 552 groups of data. Size measurement method was divided into two measuring range:ROI1 and ROI2. We selected 10 points to measure CT value, including Center, North, South, West and East. The measurement data of ROI1 and ROI2 were classified and screened based on the same sequence. Mathematical modeling and probability statistics analysis were used to optimize correction coefficient, get calibration function and draw experimental simulation curve. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) Measuring methods of ROI1 were superior to the ROI2’s on water phantom in spectrum CT. (2) To different scanning sequences, the measuring results were different. To the same scanning sequences, the measurements for different positions on water phantom in spectrum CT had remarkable influence on the measuring results, which varied from points to points. (3) Through setting up mathematical modeling, using method of statistical analysis, we could get the correction function on different measuring positions. (4) Above results confirmed that compared with the theoretical model and the experimental data of spectral CT scanning parameters, the coefficients of position can be adjusted, which can optimize the measuring results.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the safety, middle or short -term effect and indication of the endovascular treatment for ischemic stroke patients with extracranial carotid stenosis. Methods The clinical datas with percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and stenting for extracranial carotid artery stenosis cases were retrospectively reviewed, from which 106 cases with ischemic stroke in the past were selected for study. And theinformation including operation opportunity, operation experience, serious complications such as cerebral hemorrhage and secondary ischemic stroke were summarized.Their clinical features, methods of treatment and prognosis were analyzed specially. Results The placement of 106 cases with 120 stents was satisfaction.Cerebral hemorrhage occurred in 3 cases while thrombosis fol-lowing stent placement in 2 cases, hypotension and bradycardia in 6 cases, vasospasm in 11 cases, gastrointestinal stress bleeding in 1 case, restenosis occurred in 8 cases and no cerebral infarction occurred after operation.Apart from one case of death cerebral hemorrhage,8 cases of restenosis, the, middle or short -term results of the remaining 97 patients were satisfactory.83 cases were followed up for 3 months to 5years,there were no ischemic attack and cerebral infarction occurred. Conclusion The satisfactory effect and safety are achieved in the therapy of carotid stenosis by percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and stenting.Angioplasty and stenting may improve the cerebral hemodynamics of patients with severe /moderate internal carotid artery stenosis. It is suitable for previous ischemic stroke patients. We must be individualized to more carefully assess these patientsˊsurgical risk, strictly adhere to the indications of surgery, and general measures is the key of preventing the complications during the perioperative period.

ABSTRACT

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is the most common liver disorder in the world.A significant, albeit relative small, proportion of NAFLD patients can advance from steatohepatitis to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Moreover,NAFLD is associated independently with an increased incidence of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The mortality of patients with NAFLD is significantly higher than that among the general population and cardiovascular risk may compete with liver-related risk in dictating the final outcome. From a clinical point of view,it has become mandatory to evaluate the metabolic risk factors in NAFLD patients and to consider careful surveillance and aggressive treatment of both hepatic and cardiovascular outcomes.Nowadays, there are substantial advances in the ability to make the diagnosis of NAFLD as well as both grade and stage the disease, however, liver biopsy remains the gold standard.Lifestyle changes are the first line and mainstay of management of NAFLD,weight loss and treatment of insulin resistant remain central to the therapeutic process.Specific pharmacological treatment is currently not recommended for routine clinical practice.
