ABSTRACT

Background: Gastric mucosal atrophy and intestinal metaplasia (IM) are precancerous conditions of gastric cancer. Although Moluodan has been used in the treatment of chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG), there is little study on efficacy evaluation of Moluodan based on pathological stages. Aims: To assess the efficacy of Moluodan on reversal of gastric mucosal atrophy and IM based on OLGA and OLGIM staging systems, and to analyze the related factors. Methods: A total of 104 patients with CAG and IM from October 2019 to January 2022 at Xijing Hospital of Air Force Medical University were enrolled retrospectively in this study. All the patients received Moluodan treatment (one bag each time, three times daily) for 6 months. Changes of OLGA and OLGIM stages before and after treatment, and the related factors affecting the efficacy were analyzed. Results: After treatment with Moluodan for 6 months, the reversal rates for gastric mucosal atrophy and IM were 47.1% (49/104) and 51.0% (53/104), respectively, and the overall efficacy was 65.4% (68/104). There were 49.3% (34/69) and 52.4% (22/42) of patients with higher OLGA and OLGIM stages (III-) reversed to lower stages (0-Ⅱ), respectively. In addition, patients with OLGA and OLGIM stage III- showed a higher reversal rate than those with stage -Ⅱ (all P0.05). Conclusions: Moluodan could reverse gastric mucosal atrophy and IM effectively in patients with CAG, which suggests that Moluodan has good potential in prevention of gastric cancer.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analysis the diagnostic values and characteristics of ultrasound and ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) before operation. Methods The data of ultrasound and ultrasound guided FNAC in 129 patients (including 148 PTC nodules) with PTC were collected from January 2014 to February 2017, and the diagnostic reports and feature descriptions of ultrasound and ultrasound guided FNAC were analyzed retrospectively. Results Among the 148 PTC nodules, the ultrasonographic imaging showed that 84.5% (125/148) with low echo-level solid nodules, 61.5% (91/148) with echo heterogenicity, 77.7% (115/148) with a ratio ≥ 1 in longitudinal/breadth, 69.6 % (103/148) with fuzzy boundary, 75.0% (111/148) with microcalcification in nodules, 97.3% (144/148) without or with incomplete aureole, 64.9% (96/148) with rich blood flow and 7.0% (9/129) with enlargement of cervical lymph nodes. The FNAC diagnosis showed that 78.4% (116/148) was diagnosed with suspected papillary carcinoma, 1.4% (2/148) was diagnosed with malignent tumor, 11.5% (17/148) was diagnosed with atypia of undetermined significance (AUS), 1.4% (2/148) was diagnosed with benign lesion, 0.7% (1/148) was diagnosed with follicular neoplasm and 6.7% (10/148) could not be diagnosed. If the suspected papillary carcinoma and malignent tumor were defined as cytodiagnosis, the diagnostic accordance rate with intraoperative pathology was 79.7%. Conclusion The preoperative accuracy rates of ultrasound diagnosis and ultrasound guided FNAC diagnosis for patients with PTC are high, and the characteristics of the both are also typical. The two examinations before operation are helpful for early diagnosis and treatment formulation for patients with PTC.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To analyze the therapeutic effect of pulmonary surfactant [PS] in combination with nasal continuous positive airway pressure [NCPAP] therapy on neonatal respiratory distress syndrome [NRDS]

Methodology: Forty-nine neonates who were diagnosed as NRDS and admitted in our hospital from May 2014 to June 2015 were selected and divided into an observation group and a control group. The observation group was treated with PS and NCPAP. The control group was treated only with NCPAP. The clinical symptoms, pulmonary X-ray, arterial partial pressure of oxygen [PaO[2]] and prognosis of the two groups were observed

Results: Twelve hours after treatment, the partial pressure of carbon dioxide and oxygenation index decreased significantly [P<0.05], and PaO[2] and ratio of arterial/pulmonary oxygen partial pressures increased significantly [P<0.05]. Pulmonary X-ray examination showed that 78.3% of the observation group and 53.8% of the control group were relieved 12-24 hour after treatment, between which the difference was statistically significant [P<0.05]. The improvement rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group [82.6% vs. 57.7%, P<0.05], the incidence of complications was significantly lower in the observation group [P<0.05], and the average length of stay in the observation group was significantly shorter [P<0.05]

Conclusion: Both methods effectively treated NRDS, but PS in combination with NCPAP better improved oxygenation, reduced mortality and incidence of complications

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the effect of contract learning on rehabilitation training to patients with stroke . Methods According to the random number table, 120 stroke patients were randomly divided in equal number into control group and observation group. The patients in the control group were treated with conventional nursing during hospitalization and health guidance during follow-up. The patients in the observation group were given rehabilitation training according to contracted learning during the period of hospitalization and follow-up. The time was 6 months. The quality of life was compared between the two groups of patients before and after the intervention, 1 months after discharge, 6 months after discharge. Results After six months of intervention, the 7 dimensions of quality of life, including daily life ability, hand function, mobility, strength, emotion, communication and participation in the intervention group were significantly better than those of the control group (P<0.001). The 6 dimensions of quality of life, including daily life ability, hand function, mobility, strength, emotion, and communication of the control group were significantly better than before the intervention (P<0.001). Conclusion For stroke patients, the rehabilitation training under the learning contract can improve the effect of rehabilitation training so as to improve the quality of life and the prognosis.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the incorporation rate and release behavior of bovine serum albumin (BSA) incorporated into the calcium phosphate coating by biomimetic deposition, as well as the physical and chemical properties of the hybrid coating, and to provide experimental basis for the fabrication of growth factor/biomimetic calcium phosphate coating and exploration for the loading/release behavior of growth factors.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Pure titanium specimens were immersed into saturated calcium phosphate solutions(SCP) containing no BSA (controlled group) and 3 different concentrations of BSA (experimental groups) : 1, 10 and 100 mg/L. Biomimetic calcium phosphate coating was formed on titanium surface and BSA was incorporated into the coating through co-deposition. The topography of the specimen was observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Chemical structure and phase composition of coatings were detected by Fourier infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis and X-ray diffraction (XRD) respectively. BSA incorporation rate and release profile were determined by bicinchoninic acid protein assay kit.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The biomimetic calcium phosphate coating was mainly composed of hydroxyapatite and octacalcium phosphate. BSA was successfully incorporated into the calcium phosphate coatings in all the 3 experimental groups. With the increase of BSA concentration, plate-like units of the coatings were turned into small grid structure. BSA incorporation rates of the three experimental groups were (72.4 ± 2.4)%, (62.3 ± 0.9)% and (42.2 ± 1.7)% respectively. The in vitro release test showed that all three BSA release profiles could be divided into two significant different stages: early burst release stage and later sustained release stage. The amount of BSA release of the 3 experimental groups in 24 h and 30 d were (1.57 ± 0.09), (8.82 ± 0.93), (140.24 ± 3.12) µg, and (2.39 ± 0.29), (14.39 ± 0.70), (151.06 ± 2.00) µg respectively.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Biomimetic calcium phosphate coating can be used as an effective carrier for protein. BSA concentration has an impact on the incorporation rate and release speed of BSA from the calcium phosphate coating. Favorable BSA incorporation rate and release behavior can be obtained at BSA concentration of 10 mg/L.</p>
