ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND@#Studies have shown that the incidence and severity of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in patients with lung cancer are higher than those in healthy people. At present, the main anti-tumor treatments for lung cancer include surgery, immunotherapy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy and anti-angiogenesis therapy. While the effects of different anti-tumor treatments on the occurrence and severity of COVID-19 pneumonia are not uniform. Therefore, we aimed to describe clinical characteristics and antitumor therapy of patients with lung cancer and COVID-19 pneumonia, and examined risk factors for severity in this population.@*METHODS@#From December 1, 2022 to February 15, 2023, a retrospective study was conducted in 217 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 and pathologically confirmed lung cancer in the Jinling Hospital. We collected data about patients' clinical features, antitumor treatment regimen within 6 months, and the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19. Risk factors for occurrence and severity of COVID-19 pneumonia were identified by univariable and multivariable Logistic regression models.@*RESULTS@#(1) Among the 217 patients included, 51 (23.5%) developed COVID-19 pneumonia, of which 42 (82.4%) were classified as medium and 9 (17.6%) were classified as severe; (2) Univariate and multivariate analysis revealed overweight (OR=2.405, 95%CI: 1.095-5.286) and intrapulmonary focal radiotherapy (OR=2.977, 95%CI: 1.071-8.274) are risk factors for increasing occurrence of COVID-19 pneumonia, while other therapies are not; (3) Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) history (OR=7.600, 95%CI: 1.430-40.387) was more likely to develop severe pneumonia and anti-tumor therapies such as intrapulmonary focal radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy did not increase severity.@*CONCLUSIONS@#Intrapulmonary focal radiation therapy within 6 months increased the incidence of COVID-19 pneumonia, but did not increase the severity. However, there was no safety concern for chemotherapy, targeted therapy, surgery and immunotherapy.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the surgical methods and clinical effect of repairing the thumb tip defects in infants by applying the reversed first dorsal metacarpal radial artery island flaps along with anatomosing of nerves and veins. Methods Twenty-one cases with soft tissue defects of thumb tips caused by trauma were admitted from August,2015 to August,2017.The first dorsal metacarpal radial island artery flaps were transplanted reversely to repair the defects along with the anatomosis of nerves and veins.Among all the cases, the range of defect area was 2.0 cm×1.8 cm-3.0 cm×2.5 cm.The area range of the flap harvested during the surgery was 2.2 cm×2.0 cm-3.2 cm×2.7 cm.The regular post-operative followed-up was performed. Results All flaps survival after the surgeries, and the wounds were I-staged healing. All cases were followed-up by 3-18 months, and the average time was 7 months. The appearance and quality of the flaps were good. The range of motion of the metacarpophalangeal joints and interphalangeal joints was normal.According to the Upper Extremity Functional Evaluation Tentative Criteria set up by Hand Surgery Branch of Chinese Medical Association,14 cases were excellent,5 case was good, and 2 cases were fair. Conclusion The surgery of using the first dorsal metacarpal radial reversed island artery flap to repair the defect of thumb tip in infant, along with the anatomosis of nerve and vein,is a good method in repairing the defects due to its ease of operation, achievement of plump of finger tip and good recovery of appearance and sensation after the surgery.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the prothetic effect of free grafting of microvascular anastomotic peroneal artery perforator flap when used to repair the donor tissue defects of wrap-around flap of toe. Methods From January 2008 to March 2013,twenty-six cases thumb avulsion at proximal and distal phalanx level with skin and nail bed defect caused by trauma were admitted to our hospital. After incising wrap-around flap of toe to repair the thumb defects, microvascular anastomotic peroneal artery perforator flap was transplanted freely to repair the donor site of it.Results The skin flaps of 26 cases all successfully survived. After a followed-up of 3 months to 4 years, the length of donor toes were the same as before. The appearance of skin flaps were no fat and clumsy and the abradability of their skin were well.Algesia, thalposis and thigmesthesia were partially recovery. Two point discrimination reached to 5-10 mm.There were no obvious uncomfortableness in donor feet when standing and walking except wearing flip-flops.Conclusion Free grafting of peroneal artery perforator flap is a good method to repair the donor defect caused by incising wrap-around flap of toe.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the utilization and tendency of calcium products and calcium absorption enhancers in our hospital.METHODS:The calcium products and calcium absorption enhancers used in our hospital from 2005 to 2007 were analyzed statistically in respect of drug variety, consumption quantity, consumption sum and DDDs.RESULTS:Compound Calcium Amino Acid Chelate Capsules and Calcium Carbonate Chewable Tablets took the lead in clinical application.Leading the list of DDDs were Compound Calcium Amino Acid Chelate Capsules(Osteoform Capsules),Calcium Carbonate Chewable Tablets and Oyster Shell Tablets Calcium, however, the old generation calcium products had gradually become out of date.CONCLUSION:The use of calcium products and calcium absorption enhancers in our hospital was rational on the whole, but there are some problems which call for attention.
