ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effects of different doses of Peng-Hui on expression levels of insulin receptor substance 1 (IRS-1) in type 2 diabetes (T2DM) rats. Methods T2DM rat model was established by feeding with high-fat-diet and intraperitoneal injecting streptozotocin (STZ). T2DM model rats were randomized into four groups: T2DM control group, high dose Peng-Hui (150 mg/kg) group, medium dose Peng-Hui (100 mg/kg) group and low dose Peng-Hui (50 mg/kg) group. The T2DM control group was fed with only high-fat-diet. The normal control group was fed with common diet. The expression levels of IRS-1 in pancreas and skeletal muscle tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry method after 8-week treatment, and fasting blood glucose (FBG) and insulin levels were also detected in five groups. Results FBG lev-els were significantly lower in medium dose Peng-Hui group than those of T2DM control group and low dose Peng-Hui group (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in insulin levels between high, medium and low dose Peng-Hui groups and T2DM control group (P>0.05). The expression levels of IRS-1 of pancreas and skeletal muscle tissues were significant-ly lower in high dose Peng-Hui group than that of T2DM control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The expression of IRS-1 was decreased in high dose Peng-Hui group, but no effects on FBG and plasma insulin.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effects and clinical value of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer. Methods 102 cases with locally advanced cervical cancer treated were randomly divided into observation group and control group, the observation group received the surgery after the neoadjuvant chemotherapy, and the control group was given a direct surgical treatment.Operative time, blood loss and postoperative pathologic results were observed, and chemotherapy and toxicity evaluation were made for the observation group. Results The chemotherapy effective rate of the observation group was 74.51%,and the toxicity could be tolerated;the operation time and blood loss of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group(all P < 0.05) ;surgical trauma and postoperative complications' occurrence rate of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group (all P < 0.05) ; pelvic lymph node metastasis and vaginal cutting edge of the residues of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group (all P < 0.05).Conclusion For locally advanced cervical cancer,NACT has a positive significance in reducing the tumor volume,low-er tumor stage, and at the same time reducing the difficulty of operation, surgical trauma, postoperative complications, and preventing recurrence and metastasis, which can be used as a better adjuvant treatment program for locally advanced cervical cancer.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo enhance the dissolution rate of daidzein with solid dispersion technique.

METHODSolid dispersions were prepared by the solvent method using water-solubility chitosan as a hydrophilic carrier. DSC, IR and X-ray methods were used to verify the formation of solid dispersion.

RESULTDissolution percentages of solid dispersions were more than 90 percent in the drug-carrier ratio of 1:5 and 1:9. But dissolution percentages of physical mixtures and pure drug were 40 and 38.4 percent respectively. Part of daidzein dispersed in solid dispersion in the form of microcrystalline.

CONCLUSIONWater-soluble chitosan solid dispersion can significantly increase dissolution rate of daidzein.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the association of serum interleukin-6 and interleukin-18 concentration in patients with meta-bolic syndrome (MS), and explore the role of inflammtory markers in these patients. Methods 83 patients with MS were enrolled into study group, among of them, 47 were male and 36 were female, their average was 48.95±10. 17 years. The control group was made of 85 normal volunteers. The levels of fasting blood glucose (FBG), fasting insulin, plasma lipids, interleukin-6 and interleukin-18 were meas-ured in all the patients and normal subjects. The insulin sensitive index was calculated. The levels of the fasting blood inflammatory markers were compared between the two groups. Results Compared with the control group, the HOMA-βof the MS group was significantly de-creased, but the levels of IL-18 and IL-6 were significantly increased. The serum IL-18 levels were positive correlated with FPG, FINS, TG, HOMA-IR, IL-6. Conclusion There are IR and abnormal serum level of IL-18 and IL-6 in patients with MS. It has an intimate association between abnormal serum IL-18 and IR. The inflammatory reaction may play an important role in the development of IR in patients with MS.
