ABSTRACT

Objective:To understand counselors' use of social media from the perspective of clients, and find the relevant ethical issues. Methods: The questionnaire of how clients regarding counselors'use of social media was made as evaluation tool. Totally 434 valid questionnaires were received, including 86 males and 348 females, aged (36 ±7) years. Results: Almost 51.6% of the clients got information of counseling and counselors through social media, and 35.9% received online counseling through social media. Several ethical issues existed. Counselors didn't make informed consent with clients, which included the confidentiality, security and real identity about online counseling issues. Clients and counselors added WeChat or QQ friends and interacted with each other outside the counseling process. This situation led to multiple relations. Counselors' personal exposure in their social media negatively impressed clients. Counselors had over propaganda or clients'privacy expose during advertising or training through social media. Conclusion: Counselors' using social media for counseling involve many ethical issues. The confidentiality and multiple relations are more complex and subtle due to Internet features. The ethical issue of counselors' self-exposure in personal social media particularly requires being noticed.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To understand grief stages, grief reactions and grief pathways of college student after lovelorn, in order to provide basis for psychological services. Methods: Totally 11 college students who were broken-up for at least 1 year were recruited and screened. Qualitative research methods and semi-structured interviews were used in this study. After the interview, the recording was copied out into transcripts and was analyzed. Results: The grief stages after lovelorn could be divided into "strong emotions and behavior", "depression and decreased behavior or transfer notice obsessed with other things", "looking for connection with the break up", and "put feelings, fit and ready to start a new life". There were also some specific grief reaction. During the first grief stage, people with different gender had different reactions, and the one who proposed breakup would feel relaxed and guilty. If the ex-lover began with a new relationship, it would easily lead to emotional reaction again. People with objective reasons for breakup would have expectations for the future. Conclusion: It suggests that college students have obvious grief reactions and grief periods after lovelorn. Gender, subjective or objective factors may lead to specific grief reactions, which should be paid more attention to.

ABSTRACT

This paper is to introduce our experiences in treating 2 batches of 13 burn victims transferred from remote areas on postburn days 3 and 4. Methods Thirteen burn victims of 2 mass casualties were transferred to our burns institute from remote areas on postburn days 3 and 4 on June 27, 2001 and June 2, 2002, respectively. There were 4 males and 9 females, age ranged from 20 to 43 years, with a mean age of 31.1±6.2 years. The mean total burn area was 74.3%±24.7% TBSA (range, 25% to 97%). Among them, 10 patients suffered from serious burn with mean total burn area involving 86.0%±11.5% TBSA (range, 60% to 97%), and mean full-thickness burn of 63.9%±26.3% TBSA. Four patients also manifested signs of severe inhalation injury, and 6 patients with moderate inhalation injury. In three patients with mean total burn area covering 35.5%±10.0% TBSA (range, 25% to 45%), with mean full-thickness burn of 15.3%±5.0%, were al having moderate inhalation injuries. Among these 13 patients, 3 were having high body temperature (39℃), while 3 manifested hypothermia. The heart rate was 140-160/min, and respiratory rate 26 to 32/min in 6 patients. Abdominal distension or loss of bowel sound were found in 4 patients. Low white cell and platelet count were found in some patients. In 13 cases, liver function, renal function, myocardiac enzyme, and coagulation function were abnormal. Results Among 13 burn victims, one patient died of myocarditis on postburn day 29, and another one died of hepatic failure (history of chronic hepatitis B) on postburn day 45 with only 2% TBSA of burn wound remained open. Conclusion Burns victims occurred in mass casualties who were transferred from remote areas to our Burns Institute were all in critical condition, usually with multiple complications, demanding most meticulous care. Our strategies in this regard consisted of dispatch of experienced surgeons and nurses to the referring hospitals and the airport to receive the patients to offer appropriate care to them during the journey, organization of the medical staff so that each of them was ordained specific function, thus conditions of the patients were evaluated immediately and appropriate treatment started expeditiously for those lethal complications on arrival. Timely and exact comprehensive treatments were prerequisite to save the patients’ life. Adequate metabolic support should be emphasized, and coagulant of anticoagulant treatment should be carried out when indicated.

ABSTRACT

Aim To pick out the siRNA which could most effectively inhibit the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor( BDNF) in microglial cells,to detect the cytotoxicity of the transfection complex, and to ob-serve the change of OX-42 expression, the microglial marker, after BDNF siRNA treatment. Methods Four siRNAs were chemically synthesized: three of them were used to inhibit BDNF expression in microglial cells, the rest was fluorescence-labeled mismatch siRNA as a negative control. They were all transfected into microglial cells, respectively. BDNF mRNA was detected 24 h after transfection by Real-Time PCR and itsprotein expression was observed done by Western blot 48 h later. The Sulforhodamine B( SRB) assay was used to investigate the drug-induced cytotoxicity. Co-expres-sion pattern of BDNF and OX-42 was determined by double-labeling immunofluorescence. Results ① The BDNF siRNA1588 was the most effective siRNA,compared with the vehicle or mismatch siRNA-treated group( P

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>the main purpose of this study is to develop an assay for detection of skin viability in situ.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Two nucleic acid dyes, SYTO 13 and ethidium bromide (EB), are used to assess the viability of skin tissue. The viability of cells can be determined by different colors under fluorescence microscope. In this study, the recovery of skin restored at 4 degrees C for different periods is measured by SYTO/EB dyes and a type of indirect assessment, WST-1. Then both results are compared.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The results measured by two methods showed that the viability of skin tissue was nearly 30% after two weeks storage. At any point of experiment, the data from two methods have not obvious variance.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The assessment of skin viability by SYTO/EB is also quick, sensitive and convenient. At the same time the viability of any type of cells can be observed in situ. So it can be considered as an available method for detection of skin viability.</p>

ABSTRACT

The effect of antiepilepsirine, a derivative of piperine, on the rat amygdala kindled seizures was studied. An average of daily consecutive 15 stimulations was needed to reach the first stage 5 seizures, at which the rats showed behavioral convulsions and electroencephalogra-phic abnormalities. Antiepilepsirine ip 2 h before stimulation at the doses that did not show obvious sedation suppressed the stage 5 seizures with the ED50 of 84.7mg/kg and exhibited insignificant shortening of afterdischarge duration. Sodium valproate effectively protected against stage 5 seizures and shortened the afterdischarge duration. Present data suggest the chronic antiepileptic property of antiepilepsirine in rat amygdala kindling model.
