ABSTRACT

The avian influenza A (H7N9) virus is a zoonotic virus that is closely associated with live poultry markets. It has caused infections in humans in China since 2013. Five waves of the H7N9 influenza epidemic occurred in China between March 2013 and September 2017. H7N9 with low-pathogenicity dominated in the first four waves, whereas highly pathogenic H7N9 influenza emerged in poultry and spread to humans during the fifth wave, causing wide concern. Specialists and officials from China and other countries responded quickly, controlled the epidemic well thus far, and characterized the virus by using new technologies and surveillance tools that were made possible by their preparedness efforts. Here, we review the characteristics of the H7N9 viruses that were identified while controlling the spread of the disease. It was summarized and discussed from the perspectives of molecular epidemiology, clinical features, virulence and pathogenesis, receptor binding, T-cell responses, monoclonal antibody development, vaccine development, and disease burden. These data provide tools for minimizing the future threat of H7N9 and other emerging and re-emerging viruses, such as SARS-CoV-2.

ABSTRACT

Objectives To investigate mental health status of public health aid professionals in Africa and its influencing factors. Methods From July of 2018 to July of 2019, all the third and forth batches of members from the Second Phase of the Fixed Biological Safety Laboratory Technical Cooperation Project in Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention totaling 21 individuals were tested by Symptom Check List 90 (SCL-90), general information forms and influencing factors forms before departure, at three and six months in Sierra Leone, and at one month after return respectively. Results Some of public health aid professionals experienced a phased psychological abnormality response (SCL-90>160). The total score of SCL-90 rises after the team departs for the Sierra Leone, peaks at 3 months, and then falls to the baseline level, showing a low-high-low trend. The scores of hostile and paranoid factors show a low-high-low-high trend. At different time points, there was no statistical difference between the total scores of SCL-90(P>0.05) and the force factor score was statistically different (P<0.05). Conclusions The overall mental health status of the public health aid professionals is well. All departments should take appropriate measures to protect and pay attention to the mental health development of public health aid professionals.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:Total hip arthroplasty is an optimal choice for patients with late hip dysplasia. Crowe type IV developmental dysplasia of the hip increases the difficulty of the operation, and the surgery is controversial. OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the clinical effects of total hip arthroplasty on Crowe type IV developmental dysplasia of the hip and the method of reconstruction of acetabulum and the treatment of proximal femur. METHODS:A total of 12 patients (14 hips) with Crowe type IV developmental dysplasia of the hip underwent total hip arthroplasty. Preoperative Harris hip score was averagely (35.0±6.8) points. Al hips were treated with smal acetabular components combined with medial protrusion technique in acetabular reconstruction, as wel as subtrochanteric shortening osteotomy in femur. Joint function of hips was evaluated according to the Harris hip score. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Al patients were fol owed up with an average of 4.6 years (ranged 1 to 7 years). Two cases (two hips) suffered from infraction of greater trochanter of femur during replacement, and it was fixed with wire. There was complete sciatic nerve injury in one case, which partial y restored after conservative treatment for 1 month. No infection, prosthesis loosening, or deep venous thrombosis with obvious clinical manifestations was visible. Bone union was observed at the site undergoing osteotomy at the side of femur. After replacement, final fol ow-up showed that Harris hip score was averagely (84.0±7.0) points. The mean amount of postoperative leg lengthening was 5 cm (range 4-6 cm). Shortened limbs were corrected satisfactorily. These results suggested that total hip arthroplasty using smal acetabular component, medial protrusion, and femoral subtrochanteric shortening osteotomy technique for the Crowe type IV developmental dysplasia of the hip can effectively restore hip function and leg length. The long-term curative effects require further investigations.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the quality of measles breakout events and relative cases in order to offer the integrated, accurate, basic data for infectious disease anticipation and control. Methods Associate the measles breakout events with cases, the cases with organization type, and users'information with breakout events. As a result, the integrated data construct is created in order to analyze the index in detail. Results Measles breakout events substitute ration is 33.93%,measles breakout events without relative cases reporting rate is 12.50%.Relative cases reporting rate in time is 75.51% and substitute ratio is 12.07%.Conclusions There are still many problems in measles breakout events reporting and relative cases reporting. The local CDCs and hospitals should pay much attention to the data quality especially in the infectious disease outbreak and guarantee the data quality through more methods of quality control and evaluation.
