ABSTRACT

With the development of medical information, Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS), Hospital Information System/Radiology Information System(HIS/RIS) and other medical information management system become popular and developed, and interoperability between these systems becomes more frequent. So, these enclosed systems will be open and regionalized by means of network, and this is inevitable. If the trend becomes true, the security of information transmission may be the first problem to be solved. Based on the need for network security, we investigated the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) Standard and Transport Layer Security (TLS) Protocol, and implemented the TLS transmission of the DICOM medical information with OpenSSL toolkit and DCMTK toolkit.

ABSTRACT

Objective To realize the format conversion from DICOM images to common images with simple and convenient meth-ods. Methods Parsing the DICOM files adopting the object-oriented idea, the DICOM images were changed over on the basis of DCMTK toolkit. Results The VC++ project was built with the DICOM toolkit and the conversion of image formats was achieved. Conclusion This method conveniently achieves the conversion among kinds of image formats. The converted images are completely accord with the practicable standards;moreover, it's greatly convenient for the following processing and manipulations.

ABSTRACT

The method of subblock coding for medical image compression is presented by means of the integer lifting wavelet transform. The integer lifting wavelet transform has better effects on improving the processing speed; it can achieve wavelet transform for arbitrary size image and accomplish the transform at current position; furthermore, it can save memory space. The lifting algorithm can deal with the lossless compression and loss compression of image simultaneously, so it is adapted to telemedicine system and medical image compression system. The compression method based on image subblock coding can not only realize controlling BR (bit ratio), but also realize SNR (signal noise ratio) and suit for progressive transform.
