ABSTRACT

【Objective】 To investigate the sperm retrieval rate (SRR) of microdissection testicular sperm extraction (M-TESE) in patients with non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA) caused by different causes. 【Methods】 A retrospective analysis was performed on 225 NOA patients during Jan.2020 and Dec.2022. The relation between SRR and patients’ age, body mass index (BMI),testicular volume, endocrine hormones and different etiological classifications were analyzed. 【Results】 According to whether sperm was obtained by surgery, the patients were divided into two groups, including 107 cases in the sperm group and 118 cases in the non-sperm group. There were no significant differences in patients’ age, testicular volume and levels of endocrine hormones between the two groups (P>0.05). According to the different causes,NOA patients with mumps history, cryptorchidism history,AZFc deletion or Klinefelter syndrome (KS) had higher SRR,while idiopathic NOA patients had the lowest SRR (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 M-TESE is an effective treatment of NOA. There is no correlation between SRR and patients’ age,MBI,testicular volume and levels of endocrine hormones. NOA caused by different etiological classifications may have different SRR.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the effect of self-made Yiqi Yangyin Decoction on immune function, serum tumor markers and toxic and side effects of chemotherapy in patients with advanced gastric cancer chemotherapy. Methods:A total of 88 patients with advanced gastric cancer who met the inclusion criteria in the hospital between December 2018 and December 2020 were divided into two groups according to the random number table method, with 44 in each group. The control group was treated with chemotherapy, and the observation group was given self-made Yiqi Yangyin Decoction on the basis of the control group. The two groups were treated for 4 consecutive cycles with 3 weeks as 1 cycle. The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) symptoms were scored before and after treatment, and the levels of IgG, IgA and IgM were detected by immunoturbidimetry. The levels of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and cancer antigen 125 (CA125) were detected by ELISA. The gastrointestinal reactions, thrombocytopenia, anemia, leukopenia and neurotoxicity were recorded and evaluated during treatment, and the clinical efficacy was assessed. Results:The total effective rate was 81.8% (36/44) in observation group and 61.4% (27/44) in control group (χ 2=4.53, P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of stomachache and gastric distension, poor appetite, shortness of breath, and drooping spirit in observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group ( t=17.28, 11.91, 5.02, 5.65, all Ps<0.001) while the levels of serum IgG [(9.39±0.46)g/L vs. (8.54±0.23) g/L, t=10.96], IgA [(1.35±0.42) g/L vs. (1.07±0.15) g/L, t=6.90] and IgM [(0.92±0.09) g/L vs. (0.78±0.10) g/L, t=4.17] were significantly higher than those in the control group ( P<0.01). The levels of serum CEA [(9.07±1.01) μg/L vs. (14.89±2.13) μg/L, t=16.38] and CA125 [(24.87± 4.68) kU/L vs. (30.75±5.33) kU/L, t=5.50] were significantly lower than those in the control group ( P<0.01). During treatment, the toxic and side effects of gastrointestinal reactions, thrombocytopenia, anemia, leukopenia and neurotoxicity were significantly lower in the observation group than those in the control group ( Z=18.52, 2.54, 3.12, 3.84, 2.34, P<0.05). Conclusion:Self-made Yiqi Yangyin Decoction can improve the TCM symptoms, enhance the immunity, reduce the levels of serum tumor markers, and relieve the toxic and side effects of chemotherapy of patients undergoing chemotherapy for advanced gastric cancer.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the current situation of medical students' individual career management and its educational status. Methods Self-made questionnaire was used to investigate the present situation of individual career management and education of medical students in a medical college in November 2016.SPSS 20.0 was used for analyzing descriptive statistical analysis,t test and rank test in questionnaire data. From April to May 2017,30 students were randomly selected for interviews to explore the current situation of medical students' individual career management.Result 900 questionnaires were issued and 816 valid questionnaires were collected, and the recovery rate was 90.67%.Whether medical students accept the relevant education had significant difference in their career management ability (P< 0.05),30.15% of the students who received the relevant education (246) had a higher total score of their own career management than those who had not received, which was reflected in social work environment cognition level, participation in extracurricular activities, consideration of graduation and stage goals setting. It is learned from the interview that most medical students lack clear self-awareness and professional goals are vague, and they fail to form a good personal career management atmosphere. Conclusion Individual career management education promotes the cognitive level of social work environment of medical students and then develops their self-awareness.At the same time,it urges medical students to participate in extracurricular activities,to consider the whereabouts after graduation,to set phased goals, and to carry out targeted self-improvement.The comprehensive development of self-cognition and self-improvement finally make the medical students' individual career management ability continuously improved.

ABSTRACT

Objective To deveplope construct and validate a novel multiplex PCR system comprised of 30 Y-STR markers only with low and moderate mutation rates. Methods 30 Y-STRs characterized by low/moderate mutation rate and middle/high polymorphic was amplified simultaneously in a multiplex PCR system using the six color labeling fluorescence. PCR product was analyzed in a ABI 3500XL Genetic Analyzer. The accuracy, specifity, sensitivity and stability of the system and its validation on the mixtures were evaluated. Results The validation studies demonstrated that the system is a stable, accurate, and sensitive multiplex PCR system. The sensitivity was 0.0625ng DNA. Y-STR could be detection in a male/female DNA mixture ratio of 1:4. Conclusion The primary study demonstrates that this multiplex PCR system is effective and reliable for forensic routine DNA analysis. It will be very helpful for constructing Chinese forensic Y-STR database and population genetic research.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the application value of MiniFilerTM kit in LCN-STR genotyping in forensic science. Methods Compared the testing results of MiniFilerTM and IdentifilerTM kits in 49 general quantity biological samples and 39 LCN-biological samples, including blood stains, sperm stains, bones, and so on.Meanwhile the sensitivity of these two kits were also compared. Results Full concordance between IdentifilerTM and MiniFilerTM kits was observed in all of 49 general quantity biological samples. For 39 LCN-biological samples, only 22 samples could be genotyped in partial loci and 17 samples negative with the IdentifilerTM kit, while 30 samples could be genotyped in all loci,5 samples in partial loci and 4 samples negative with the MiniFilerTM kit. Therefore, there was a higher success rate for LCN-biological samples typing with MiniFilerTM kit than with IdentifilerTM kit.In addition, the sensitivity of the MiniFilerTMkit was also a little higer than the IdentifilerTMkit. Conclusion The results demonstrated that the MiniFilerTM kit can markedly improve the typing success rate of LCN-biological samples, and is suitable for analyzing difficult biological samples in forensic practice.
