ABSTRACT

Objective@#To explore the characteristics of the default memory network (DMN) and working memory network (WMN) at resting state brain functional network of exercise addiction people.@*Methods@#Twenty-nine sports addicts and 26 non-sports addicts matched by sex, age, average education level and sports dependence were screened by the exercise addiction index (EAI). Resting status brain scanning was performed with 3.0T magnetic resonance scanner.Sparse approximation coefficients independent component analysis (SACICA) model was used to analyze the independent components of brain networks.@*Results@#Compared with the DMN template, four features were extracted, including " basic conformity" , " less frontal lobe" , " more frontal lobe" and " less occipitoparietal lobe" . Compared with the parameters of " basic conformity" , the proportion of exercise addiction group (33.3%, 9/27) was higher than that of control group (18.2%, 4/22). In the other three parameters, the proportion of exercise addiction group (37.0%, 10/27; 3.7%, 1/27; 22.2%, 6/27) was lower than those of control group (45.5%, 10/22; 22.7%, 5/22; 27.3%, 6/22). But Chi-square test showed that there was no significant difference between the two groups(all P>0.05). Compared with the WMN template, six features were extracted, including " basic conformity" , " more frontal and parietal lobes" , " more parietal lobes" , " more frontal lobes" , " less frontal lobes" and " less parietal lobes" . The percentages of the first three features in exercise addiction group (22.2%, 6/27; 7.4%, 2/27; 7.4%, 2/27) were less than those in the control group (45.5%, 10/22; 22.7%, 5/22; 9.1%, 2/22), while the percentages of the last three features in the exercise addiction group (7.4%, 2/27; 37.0%, 10/27; 14.8%, 4/27) were higher than those in the control group (4.5%, 1/22; 13.6%, 3/22; 0, 0). Chi-square test showed that there was no significant difference in all features between the two groups was statistically(P>0.05).@*Conclusion@#No significant characteristic changes are found in DMN and WMN networks of exercise addiction population.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the relationship between climatic factors and cerebral hemorrhagic disease. Methods A total of 1125 cerebral hemorrhage patients were included in this study. The relationship between the onset time of cerebral hemorrhage and daily climatice factors (including temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind direction and rainfall volume) was analyzed and the onset time of cerebral hemorrhage in each patient was analyzed according to the X2 test for goodness of fit. Results The number of male cerebral hemorrhagy patients was greater than that of female cerebral hemorrhage patients. The mean age of femalc cerebral hemorrhage patients was older than that of male cerebral hemorrhage patients (P<0.01).The incidence of cerebral hemorrhage accounted for 11% in January in a greatest number of such patients, accounted for 5.0% in September in a smallest number of such paticnts, and was the highest at h 4-8 AM and at h 16-20 FM in ≤45 years old cerebral hemorrhage patients.Univariate correlation analysis showed that cerebral hemorrhage was negatively related with daily mean temperature, daily mean maximal and minimal temperature (r=-0.157,r =-0.163,r=-0.156,P<0.05),positively related with daily mean atmospheric pressure (r=0.157,P<0.05).Multivariate linear stepwise analysis showed that cerebral hemorrhage was related with daily mean temperature, maximal and minimal temperature, and daily mean atmospheric pressure (P<0.05,P<0.01).Conclusion The incidence of cerebral hemorrhage differs in seasons and months,is higher in winter and lower in summer, and is thus related with temperature, atmospheric pressure and wind direction.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the application of three dimensional time-of-flight (3D-TOF) MRA in screening intracranial aneurysms in the population of Wenling community. Methods A total of 2 124 patients with suspicious intracranial aneurysm in Wenling community, who received 3D-TOF MRA and three dimensional digital subtraction angiography(3D-DSA) during the period from September 2011 to August 2012, were enrolled in this study. The epidemic data of intracranial aneurysm in Wenling community were analyzed, the effectiveness of 3D-TOF MRA in detecting intracranial aneurysm was assessed, and the consistency between 3D-TOF MRA and 3D-DSA (regarded as the golden standard) in detecting intracranial aneurysm was statistically analyzed. Results The results of 3D-TOF MRA showed that the morbidity of intracranial aneurysm in the population of Wenling community was 6.87% (146/2 124), among which the morbidities in males and females were 48.63% (n=71) and 51.37% (n=75) respectively; the mean age of patients was (41.2±11.6) years old. The accompanying diseases included hypertension, diabetes mellitus, arteriosclerosis and cerebrovascular lesions. 3D-TOF MRA examination revealed 149 intracranial aneurysms, among which misdiagnosis was made in 5 patients and missed diagnosis in 2 patients. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of 3D-TOF MRA in diagnosing intracranial aneurysm were 98.63% (144/146), 99.72%(1 773/1 778) and 99.67%(2 117/2 124) respectively. No statistically significant difference in measuring the longitudinal diameter and neck width of intracranial aneurysms existed between 3D-TOF MRA and 3D-DSA examinations (P>0.05). Conclusion In detecting intracranial aneurysm, 3D-TOF MRA carries higher sensitivity, specificity and accuracy, and its non-invasive advantage is more suitable for the screening of intracranial aneurysms.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To investigate the effect of blood glucose levels on lipid-lowering therapy in patients with myocardial infraction (MI).Methods The data of 174 patients with acute or old MI and finished a two-year follow-up were analyzed retrospectively. The patients were divided into four groups: diabetes mellitus (DM) with well blood glucose control (DM+W group), diabetes mellitus with bad blood glucose control (DM+B group), non-diabetes mellitus with well blood glucose control (NDM+W group) and non-diabetes mellitus with bad blood glucose control (NDM+B group). Blood lipids levels, dose and side effects of statins were statistically analyzed. Results All the 174 patients had a mean follow-up period of 28±7 months, and 51 patients (25.9%) had diabetes mellitus. In DM+B group (n=13, 25.5%) and NDM+B group (n=24, 19.5%), there were no statistically difference between enrollment and 2-year follow-up in the mean levels of blood total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c), but the mean level of LDL-c had a trend of elevation. In DM+W group, the mean level of LDL-c was 2.57 mmol/L at 2-year follow-up, which did not achieve the recommended LDL-c goal (2.06 mmol/L). There were no differences in statin therapy between each group. After 2-year follow-up, there were only 93 patients (53.4%) received normal dose of statin, 60 patients (34.5%) took low dose of statin and 16 patients (9.2%) had no statin therapy. There were no differences in hepatic enzyme abnormality between each group. Conclusion The bad control of blood glucose in patients with MI effect the efficacy of statins in lipid-lowering therapy. The doses of statin are insufficient especial in patients with MI and DM.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To observe the curative effects of long term statins treatment on blood lipid and left ventriclar function of myocardial infarction patients. Methods 70 patients with myocardial infarction were randomly divided into two groups: Statins treatment group (n=37) and control group (n=33). The level of blood lipid, left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD), left ventricular end-systolic diameter (LVESD), left ventricular end-diastolic volume (LVEDV), left ventricular end-systolic volume (LVESV), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) were mearsured before and 2 years after the treatment. Results The long term applies of statins can bring statistically different (P<0.05) of TC and LDL-C to myocardial infarction patients. LVESD and LVEF were statistically different (P<0.05) before and after statins were used. Conclusion The long term applies of statins can improve the lipidic metabolism and left ventricular function after myocardial infarction.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of CT-guided interstitial implantation of ~(125)I seeds for the treatment of pulmonary carcinoma. Methods A total of 18 patients with pulmonary carcinoma underwent CT-guided interstitial implantation of ~(125)I seeds. According to the size of tumor, effective dose, and optimal quantity of ~(125)I seeds to the patient that were computed by a developed algorithm in Treatment Planning System (TPS), the ~(125)I seeds were implanted into the tumor tissues under the guidance of spiral CT. The patients were reexamined by CT 2 months after the operation and were followed up for 6 months. Results A total of 812 seeds were implanted into the 18 lesions in the 18 cases (45.1 seeds per case in average). The CT scan performed 2 months after the operation showed CR in 7 cases, PR in 10, and NC in 1. The total effectiveness (CR+PR) rate was 94% (17/18). Conclusions CT-guided interstitial implantation of ~(125)I seeds is a effective, minimally invasive, and low toxic method for valid and minimally traumatic treatment for middle- and late-stage lung cancer. Further application and long-term observation are necessary.
