ABSTRACT

Objective To understand the awareness and attitude about no smoking among citizens in Public Places for Olympic game. Methods 20 spots were selected at random in Qinhuangdao city, and with convenience nonrandom sampling methods, the 30 earlier encountered citizens in every spots were investigated with questionnaire in the morning(6:30-7:30),noon(11:00-12:00) and the afternoon(16:00-17:00) during October 15 to 21,2007.600 pieces of questionnaires were distributed while 528 of them were received. The data were analyzed by Chi Square Test with the software EXCEL.Results The awareness rate of the non-smoking in the Public Places was 93.70% among citizens in core area,87.34% in sub-core area, and 72.93% in the peripheral area(?2=1276.07,P

ABSTRACT

Objective To know the situation of smoking control in all kinds of restaurants and the attitudes of citizens toward it.Methods Using methods of spot field investigation and questionnaire survey,193 of restaurant staff and 189 customers in 353 restaurants & bars were investigated. Results The average ratio of smoking control of all sorts of restaurants and bars was both about 25%,and in west restaurants, the average ratio of smoking control was 39.2%.Both the customers and the restaurants keepers were consistent on smoking control;the average supporting rate was 72.1%.Conclusion With the opportunity of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games,It is urgent for us to expand propaganda against smoking, and to strengthen non-smoking legislation and make out feasible smoking control measures for this city.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To study on effect of Danshao Huaxian Capsule on proliferation of activated hepatic stellate cells(HSCs)in vivo and in vitro.Methods:(1)In vitro experiment:57 male Wistar rats were divided into a normal group,a model group and a treatment group. The rats of model group and treatment group were made hepatic fibrosis model with complex stimulation of CCl_4,drinking alcohol, high lipids and low protein diet for 8 weeks. The treatment group were treated for 8 weeks with intragastric perfusion of Danshao Huaxian Capsule,1g/kg.At the end of experiment,a part of the rats were used for detection of hepatic functions and hepatic fibrosis degrees, and another part of the rats were used to separate HSCs.Cell cycle percentage was detected with flow cytometry.(2)In vivo experiment:prepare Danshao Huaxian Capsule serum of the rat;separate cultured HSCs of the rat and divide into calf serum group, normal rat serum group and Danshao Huaxian Capsule serum group.5%,10% and 20% of the above serum was respectively added into the cultured HSCs.Primary HSCs proliferation was detected with MTT method.Results:(1)In vitro experiment:The hepatic function, hepatic fibrosis level and HSCs proliferation reduced significantly.(2)In vivo experiment: Danshao Huaxian Capstde serum group could significantly inhibit proliferation of HSCs as compared with calf serum group and normal rat serum group at the same content. The action showed dose-dependence.Conclusion:Danshao Huaxian Capsule can obviously inhibit proliferation of HSCs in vivo and in vitro.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate the effect of a Chinese medicime, Dan-Shao-Hua-Xian capsule, on liver fibrosis induced by CCl_4 by observation of apoptosis and cell cycle variation in the liver cells. METHODS: Animal models were produced through eight-week treatment of the rats with CCl_4, alcohol and diet of high fat/low proteins, and then administration of Dan-Shao-Hua-Xian to the rats (1 g/kg) via stomach-tube-pouring for eight weeks was performed. Liver index, serum hyaluronic acid (HA) and glutamate pyruvate transaminase (ALT) were measured and hydroxyproline (Hyp) content in urine were determined. The extent of the liver fibrosis was observed under light microscope and apoptosis and cell cycle were also examined by cytometry between the two groups. RESULTS: Compared to the liver fibrosis group, the liver index, serum HA, ALT in the treatment group decreased, the development of liver fibrosis delayed, the urine Hyp and the number of apoptosed cells and the ratio of G_0/G_1 cells increased, as well as the S phase cells decreased, yet unable to return to normal. All those changes detected were statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS: The Dan-Shao-Hua-Xian is effective in treating the CCl_4-induced liver fibrosis in rats partly by virtue of inhibition of the growth of hepatic stellate cells and induction of apoptosis.
