ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the cognitive function and psychological mental state of patients with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME), and the related risk factors. Methods From September, 2011 to Febrary, 2014, 21 patients with JME and 18 healthy controls matched with age, sex and educational level were assessed with Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), and Revised Chinese Wechsler Adult Intel-ligence Scale (WAIS-RC) and Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90). The risk factors were analyzed with Logistic regression analysis. Results There was no significant difference in the score of MoCA between two groups (t=―1.544, P=0.131). The scores of verbal intelligence quo-tient (VIQ), performance intelligence quotient (PIQ) and full intelligence quotient (FIQ) in WAIS-RC were significantly lower in the patient group than in the control group (t>4.119, P2.480, P<0.05). Logis-tic regression analysis showed that VIQ significantly decreased in patients taking valproic acid (B=―3.064, OR=0.047, 95% CI=0.002~0.920, P=0.044). Conclusion VIQ, PIQ and FIQ decreased in patients with JME. Furthermore, different levels of dysfunction were found in interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility, phobic anxiety, paranoid ideation and psychoticism. Taking valproic acid was the risk factor of cognitive decline.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the correlation between subjective symptoms and function of nasal ventila-tion in nonallergic rhinitis with eosinophilia syndrome ( NARES) ,in order to provide the basis for the clinical diagno-sis.Methods 44 patients with NARES were selected as the NARES group ,and 50 healthy people were selected as the control group at the same time .The total nasal resistance ( TNR ) , MCA of the two groups were compared , and Pearson or Spearman correlation was used to analyze the subjective symptoms and objective test indexes in patients with NARES.Results Before contraction, the TNR values of NARES group in 75Pa and 150Pa were higher than those of the control group (Mann-Whiteny Z=7.365,8.125,all P0.05).Conclusion The correlation between subjective symptoms and function of nasal ventilation in NARES patients is not obvious .Clinical diagnosis should be comprehensive ,in case of missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis .

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo observe the effect of the doctor-led telephone interview on the state of anxiety for outpatients with epilepsy.Methods100 outpatients with epilepsy and state of anxiety were divided into two groups: intervention group (doctor-led telephone interview) and control group (outpatient face-to-face visit in the epileptic clinic), 50 cases in each group. Doctor-let semi-structured telephone interview was performed in the intervention group, while routine face-to-face interview in outpatient was performed in the control group for 6 months. Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) was used to assess the anxiety state before and 6 months after intervention. The state of anxiety and the patients' contents in the two groups were analyzed.ResultsThe scores of SAS in two group decreased 6 months after intervention and the intervention group was better than the control group.ConclusionThe doctor-led telephone interview can improve the state of anxiety for the patients with epilepsy.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To observe the effect of continual rehabilitation on hemiplegic patients with stroke in the internal carotid artery system. Methods 60 hemiplegic cases with stroke in the internal carotid artery system were randomly divided into the continual rehabilitation group and early rehabilitationl group with 30 cases in each group. The patients in the continual rehabilitation group received continual rehabilitation besides the early rehabilitation in the rehabilitation unit or in the community with rehabilitation facities. The patients in the early rehabilitation group just received the early rehabilitation in the rehabilitation unit and then returned home with the guides from the doctors. Results The motor function and activities of daily living of the patients in the continual rehabilitation group were significantly better than that of the control group(P<0.01).Conclusion The continual rehabilitation can keep the continuity in rehabilitation, and is benefit to limb function and the activities of daily life of hemiplegic patients.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the effect of ECR I, RBC-C3bRR, RBC-ICR on obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).@*METHOD@#Fifty-four inpatients with OSAHS and 20 healthy controls at the same age were enrolled. 1 ml fresh whole blood with stomach empty in early morning were collected before and after the surgery to detect ECR I , RBC-C3bRR and RBC-ICR.@*RESULT@#The erythrocyte immune function of the OSAHS group was lower than that of the control group.@*CONCLUSION@#Erythrocyte immune functional disorder plays an important role in OSAHS and surgical procedures is effective in correcting the changes.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To study the relationship between arousal and nocturnal apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).@*METHOD@#Fifty four patients with OSAHS underwent overnight polysomnography (PSG) were enrolled, An hour continuous PSG monitoring in non-rapid eye movement (NREM) was recorded for all patients. The mean heart rate (HR) in 10 s before each arousal and the peak HR IN 10 s after arousal were compared, and the breathing disorder related arousal index (B-ArL) and pulse rate rise index (PRRI) were calculated at this time, and then a correlation analysis were performed and then Delta HR at apnea termination between these events were compared.@*RESULT@#the peak HR in 10 s after arousal onset was significantly higher than the mean HR in 10 s before arousal onset, and B-Arl was positively correlated to PRRI. the Delta HR of events with EEG arousal at apnea termination was higher than those without EEG arousal.@*CONCLUSION@#The results indicate that arousal can influence the function of cardiovascular regulation; Frequent arousal is one of the main causes of the cardiovascular consequences in OSAHS patients. Operation can reduce these influences.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the value of microarousal in the diagnosis and treatment of obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS). Methods 120 snorers were monitored by standard polysomnography(PSG). The overnight PSG recordings were also performed 1 year after operation in 24 patients, who had filled in the Epworth Sleep Score(ESS) before and after treatment, to evaluate the improvement of daytime sleepiness. Results After operation, obstructive sleep apnea of the 24 patients disappeared, their ODI 4 decreased from (52?26)/h to (10?8)/h, microarousal decreased from (28?16)/h to (14?6)/h, and the subjective and objective daytime sleepiness was improved. Conclusion The EEG changes of microarousal with at least 3 seconds in OSAHS patients can be recorded by computerized EEG analysis. Microarousal can serve as an index for daytime sleepiness, and be complementary to AHI in the diagnosis and treatment of OSAHS.
