ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the effect of modified Wuzi Yanzongwan periodic staging treatment on the outcome of assisted pregnancy in patients with poor ovarian response (POR) and kidney deficiency syndrome. Method:One hundred and four patients were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 52 cases in each group. Both groups received gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist regimen. The patients in control group additionally took Bushen Yutaiwan orally, 5 g/time, 3 times/day. The patients in observation group additionally took modified Wuzi Yanzongwan during pre-ovulation and post-ovulation periods, 1 dose/day. The treatment courses were 3 menstrual cycles (or termination after clinical pregnancy) in both groups. The number of eggs obtained, the number of available embryos, the number of fertilization, the number of high-quality embryos, the number of embryos implanted, the number of cycles cancelled, and the clinical pregnancy were recorded. Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) was injected, and then follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), estrogen (E2), anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), basal antral follicle count (AFC) and endometrial thickness were measured daily. The number of days and dosage of Gn used, scores of kidney deficiency syndrome were recorded before and after treatment, and the adverse reactions during the study period were recorded. Result:The number of eggs captured, rate of harvested eggs, number of available embryos, rate of available embryos, number of high-quality embryos, rate of high-quality embryos, and fertilization rate in observation group were higher than those in control group (P<0.05 or P<0.01). The cycle cancellation rate was lower than that in the control group; the embryo implantation rate and clinical pregnancy rate were superior than those in control group, but the difference was not statistically significant. The FSH level and FSH/LH ratio in observation group were lower than those in control group during HCG day (P<0.01), while E2, AMH, AFC and endometrial thickness were higher than those in control group (P<0.01). Simultaneously, the number of days and amount of Gn used in observation group was lower than that in control group (P<0.01). Conclusion:The Modified Wuzi Yanzongwan periodic staging treatment combined with GnRH antagonist scheme for patients with POR kidney deficiency syndrome, can regulate the level of endocrine hormones, promote follicular development, improve ovarian reserve, increase the number of eggs obtained, improve egg quality, help improve pregnancy outcomes, and increase the chances of successful pregnancy with assisted reproductive technology. It is worthy of further clinical research.

ABSTRACT

@#As magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)technology has the features of non-invasive, clear imaging, and high resolution to soft tissue, it has been used to both the clinic applications and basic researches of ophthalmic diseases. The most important applications of MRI in ophthalmology are orbital and ocular tumor diseases. In recent years, MRI has been gradually applied to clinical and scientific research of visual impairment. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the applications of MRI in the field of ametropia, cataract, glaucoma, amblyopia, optic nerve diseases, choroidal disease, retinopathy, and so on.

ABSTRACT

·Rodents have been used widely in the research of eye diseases to study visual function in animal models. Two methods of visual acuity testing in animals have been internationally recognized:the electrophysiological visual acuity test and the behavioral visual acuity test. Both of these methods have their advantages and limitations. The electrophysiology test (visual evoked potential) is invasive, and animals need recovery time after being implanted with electrodes. Also, the electrophysiological visual acuity test only reflects the electrical activity of a single cell or nuclei, it does not reflect the overall visual function of the animal. The widely used behavioral visual acuity test is able to compensate for these limitations. This paper gives a brief overview of the methods of the behavioral visual acuity test for rodents (rats, mice, guinea pigs,etc.).

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the chemical constituents of the flowers of Gentiana dahurica. Methods: All compounds were isolated and purified by silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, ODS, and MCI column chromatography. Their structures were determined by physicochemical properties and spectral data. Results: Twenty compounds were isolated from the flowers of G. dahurica. Among them, eight triterpenoids were identified as roburic acid (1), 3β-acetoxy-28-hydroxy-12-ene-oleanane (2), 28-hydroxy-α-amyrin (3), 28-hydroxy-β-amyrin (4), α-amyrin (5), β-amyrin (6), ursolic acid (7), and oleanolic acid (8). Twelve flavonoids were identified as 1-hydroxy-3,7,8-trimethoxyxanthone (9), kaempferol (10), naringenin (11), apigenin (12), luteolin (13), (2S)-naringenin-7-O-β-D- glucopyranoside (14), apigenin-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (15), luteolin-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (16), isoorientin (17), isovitexin (18), saponarin (19), and lutonarin (20). Conclusion: Seventeen compounds 1-11, 13-16, 19, and 20 are found from flowers of G. dahurica for the first time; Compounds 2-7, 9-11, 13-16, 19, and 20 are isolated from this species for the first time.

ABSTRACT

The partition behaviors of beta-1,3-1,4-glucanase, alpha-amylase and neutral proteases from clarified and whole fermentation broths of Bacillus subtilis ZJF-1A5 were investigated. An aqueous two-phase system (polyethylene glycol (PEG)/MgSO(4)) was examined with regard to the effects of PEG molecular weight (MW) and concentration, MgSO(4) concentration, pH and NaCl concentration on enzyme partition and extraction. The MW and concentration of PEG were found to have significant effects on enzyme partition and extraction with low MW PEG showing the greatest benefit in the partition and extraction of beta-glucanase with the PEG/MgSO(4) system. MgSO(4) concentration influenced the partition and extraction of beta-glucanase significantly. pH had little effect on beta-glucanase or proteases partition but affected alpha-amylase partition when pH was over 7.0. The addition of NaCl had little effect on the partition behavior of beta-glucanase but had very significant effects on the partitioning of alpha-amylase and on the neutral proteases. The partition behaviors of beta-glucanase, alpha-amylase and proteases in whole broth were also investigated and results were similar to those obtained with clarified fermentation broth. A two-step process for purifying beta-glucanase was developed, which achieved beta-glucanase recovery of 65.3% and specific activity of 14027 U/mg, 6.6 times improvement over the whole broth.
