ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the establishment of a scientific research reagent management system based on the combination of centralized procurement and supply in medical university. Methods:This paper analyzed the main modes of purchasing and supply management of scientific and research reagents at present, identified problems and difficulties existed during the implementation of centralized procurement and supply mode. Initiated with two key sectors of procurement and supply, this study explored and practiced a kind of management system of reagents based on "problem-driven" .Results:In the procurement sector, replaced product price with brand discount, increased the number of suppliers according to the consumption of reagents. In the supply sector, a particular agency responsible for quality control and service supervision has been set up. At the same time, through strict import and exit management and supplier management, we have significantly reduced the price of reagents, ensured the quality of reagent supply and after-sales service, strengthened financial supervision. Conclusions:The purchase and supply of scientific research reagents plays an important role in scientific research management. Centralized procurement and supply model can effectively improved the management of scientific research reagents.

ABSTRACT

Liver fibrosis is a tissue repair compensatory response to liver injury caused by various chronic factors, ultimately leading to liver cirrhosis, liver failure and even hepatocellular carcinoma. Abnormal activation of hepatic stellate cells is the cellular basis of liver fibrosis development. Pepstatin Pr, the derivative of pepstatin A, was isolated from Streptomyces sp. CPCC 202950. Our purpose was to investigate the anti-fibrotic activity of pepstatin Pr and explore its molecular mechanism. Hepatic stellate cell LX-2 was stimulated by TGFβ1 and sub- sequently treated with pepstatin Pr. Its cytotoxicity was detected by sulforhodamine B (SRB) assay. The expression of COL1A1, α-SMA and cathepsin D, signaling proteins TGFβ, Smad and YAP/TAZ were detected by Western blot or real-time PCR. The results showed that pepstatin Pr was not cytotoxic to LX-2 cells. And pepstatin Pr significantly reduced the mRNA and protein expression of COL1A1 and α-SMA, which are important liver fibrosis markers. Pepstatin Pr also repressed the protein expression level of cathepsin D, TGFβ1, YAP/TAZ, the phospholation level of Smad2, and YAP nuclear translocation. In conclusion, pepstatin Pr exhibits anti-fibrotic effects in TGFβ1-stimulaed LX-2 cells by mediating YAP-TGFβ-Smad pathway.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES@#To evaluate the therapeutic effect on the voice recovery of patients with vocal cord polyps undergoing the microsurgery of preoperative voice therapy.@*METHODS@#Twenty-six patients diagnosed with unilateral vocal cord polyp under stroboscope, who needed to undergo vocal cord loss resection under supportive laryngoscope, were randomly divided into control group (non-voice training) and treatment group (voice training), with each group of 13 patients. Patients in control group were just treated with surgical operation. Apart from surgical treatment, patients in treatment group received 6 hours intensive vocal therapy one week before the surgery. The therapy courses consist of the propaganda and education of voice care, postoperative vocal instruction and the patients' self-training under the guidance of voice therapists. The acoustic parameters (irregularity, breathiness, grade, jitter and shimmer) of the same patient were collected 24 to 48 hours before the surgery and 14 days after the surgery with Ling WAVES. The results were analyzed with SPSS 19.0.@*RESULTS@#The differences of all the five preoperative voice parameters between control group and treatment group are not significant; but postoperative breathiness and jitter in treatment group were significantly lower than that in control group, while the differences of irregularity, overall severity and shimmer were not significant between control group and treatment group. In control group, breathiness and jitter were significantly improved after surgery, while the differences of irregularity, breathiness and shimmer were not significant between preoperation and postoperation. In treatment group, all the five voice parameters were significantly improved after surgery. According to the laryngostroboscopic examination, the vocal fold polyps were excised completely in both groups.@*CONCLUSIONS@#Preoperative voice therapy contributes to the recovery of voice quality of the patients with vocal cord polyps. Combined intervention of surgery and voice therapy is an effective method to treat the patients with vocal cord polyps.

ABSTRACT

Bile acids play critical roles in the regulation of metabolism and absorption of lipids. The ileal apical sodium-dependent bile acid transporter (ASBT) located at the enterocyte brush border is responsible for the reuptake of bile acids and the maintenance of bile acid homeostasis. Recently, a number of investigations have been made concerning the regulation and control of ASBT and the relationship between ASBT and intestinal inflammation, tumorigenesis, diabetes mellitus and hyperlipemia, which suggests ASBT as a potential therapeutic target of these diseases. In this review, advances in the study of above-mentioned issues were summarized.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To analysis the medical expenses of six diseases and put forward the efficient methods to control their unreasonable rise. Methods: 22582 patients with six diseases in two largest hospitals in Xi'an were chosen and analyzed from 1/1/ 2003 to 10/1/2004. Results: Six diseases were the main reason of hospitalization and the malignancy was most important; drug expense of the uninsured patients, which was the key factor to induce the medical expenses rising, was higher than insured patients. Conclusion: The medical insurance program could control the drug expense efficiently; different control strategies to different diseases were important to distribute the medical resource and lighten the life burdens of the inpatients.
