ABSTRACT

Objective To establish a canine model of intervertebral disc extrusion by surgery and observe the histological and microcirculatory changes of the spinal cord , in order to accumulate data for studies on the pathology and mechanism of treatment for intervertebral disc extrusion .Methods Normal healthy adult dogs were divided randomly into two groups:normal control group and model group .To simulate the intervertebral disc extrusion caused by spinal cord compression, 6Fr double lumen catheter with ballon was inserted into the spinal cord T 12-T13 and filled with about 5 mL Iohexol after the exposure of spinal cord L 1 by hemilaminectomy .The spinal cord blood flow ( SCBF) at the L1 level before and after compression was measured by laser-Doppler flowmetry .Morphological changes of the compressed spinal cord at 14 days after compression was examined by histopathology .Results The ( Texas spinal cord injury score ) ( TSCIS) scores of the motor function of bilateral hind limbs were highly significantly decreased (P<0.01).The blood flow of spinal cord at the L1 level was significantly decreased (P<0.05) after compression than that before .Compared with the normal control group, the model group showed abnormal vacuolization in the white matter and the number of normal neurons in the ventral horn of gray matter was significantly lower ( P<0.01 ) .Conclusions Our findings demonstrate that canine models of intervertebral disc extrusion can be successfully established by balloon catheter compression , showing local impairment of microcirculation and histological changes in the spinal cord .This canine model may provide a useful model for evaluation of therapeutic effects of acupuncture and for mechanism studies .

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the correlation between plasma NT-proBNP and the severity of coronary artery disease. Methods One hundred and eighty five subjects were divided into three groups:83 patients in acute coronary syndromes group, 62 patients in stable angina pectoris group and 40 healthy subjects in normal group. The plasma NT-proBNP concentrations were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) . The plasma NT-proBNP levels of acute coronary syndrome patients and stable angina patients were analyzed. Furthermore, the coronary syndrome patients were divided into three groups according to the result of angiography:single vessel group, dual-vessel group and multiple-vessel group. The relationship of plasma NT-proBNP levels with the severity of coronary artery disease was analyzed. Results (1) In the group of acute coronary syndromes, the plasma NT-proBNP concentrations were obviously higher than the stable angina pectoris group and normal group (P<0.01) . (2) In the groups of coronary heart disease, the plasma NT-proBNP concentrations of the multiple-vesel group were obviously higher than the single vessel group and the dual-vessel group (P<0.01) . The plasma NT-proBNP concentrations of dual-vessel group were obviously higher than the single vessel group (P<0.01) . (3) The plasma NT-proBNP levels and the severity of coronary lesions were positively correlated (rs=-0.796, P<0.01) . Conclusion The plasma NT-proBNP levels is closely related to the severity of coronary artery disease.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of acute intervention therapy on the QT dispersions(QTd)and correction QTd(QTcd)in patients with myocardial infarction. Methods112 patients with myocardial infarction who had received acute percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)as study group, and divided it into three sub-group as Left anterior descending group,Left circumflex group and Right coronary group.70 infarction patients without acute intervention therapy as control group. And 12 lead standard surfaces ECG were recorded at beginning and 24h and 48h.respectively. ResultsAfter the PCI therapy,QTd and QTcd in study group improved significantly. However,QTd and QTcd had no difference among three sub-group. ConclusionThe acute intervention therapy could improve QTd and QTcd in patients with myocardial infarction. The vascular location had no difference in myocardial repolarization.
