ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate whether Danhong injection can enhance the therapeutic effect of neural stem cell (NSC) transplantation in repairing cerebral ischemia injury by regulating the nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) signaling pathway. Methods Forty male SD rats were randomly divided into the NSC transplantation group (NSC group), Danhong injection group (DH group), NSC+ Danhong injection group (N+D group), NSC+ Danhong injection group +ML385 group(N+D+M group) and PBS control group (PBS group), 8 rats in each group. All rat models of cerebral ischemia were established by embolization of the middle cerebral artery. Reperfusion was performed at 1.5 h after embolization. All rats in each group received corresponding interventions at 3 d after reperfusion. The neurological function score was evaluated before and 1, 2, 4 weeks after NSC transplantation. All rats were sacrificed at 4 weeks after NSC transplantation. The parameters related to oxidative stress were detected. The expression levels of neuron-specific nuclear protein (NeuN) and von Willebrand factor (vWF) were determined by immunofluorescence staining. Results Before NSC transplantation, the neurological function scores did not significantly differ among different groups (all P > 0.05). At postoperative 1, 2 and 4 weeks, the neurological function scores in the NSC, DH and N+D groups were significantly lower than those in the PBS and N+D+M groups (all P < 0.05). Compared with the PBS and N+D+M groups, the malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were significantly decreased, whereas the superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPX) levels were considerably increased in the NSC, DH and N+D groups (all P < 0.05). The GPX level in the N+D+M group was significantly lower than that in the PBS group (P < 0.05). Immunofluorescence staining showed that the transplant NSC in the rat brain migrated to the surrounding area of cerebral infarction and survived, and expressed neuronal marker NeuN and neovascularization marker vWF. However, the number of living NSC in the N+D+M group was significantly lower compared with those in the remaining groups. Conclusions Danhong injection may improve the microenvironment of stem cell transplantation, enhance the survival rate of transplant NSC and improve the therapeutic effect of NSC transplantation for cerebral ischemia injury probably by regulating the Nrf2 signaling pathway.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To assess the application effectiveness of problem-based learning (PBL) on nursing teaching in higher vocational schools.Methods:A total of 204 nursing students, including 76 students from Grade 2017 and 128 students from Grade 2018, were selected and divided into the observation group, which included 41 students from Grade 2017 and 74 students from Grade 2018 receiving PBL method, and the control group, which encompassed the others receiving traditional teaching methods. General self-efficacy feelings and problem-solving abilities of students in different grade in two groups were assessed at the beginning and the end of the term.Results:The scores of general self-efficacy feeling between the observation group and the control group at the beginning of the term showed no statistically significant differences ( P>0.05); the scores of general self-efficacy feeling at the end of the term in the observation group were obviously higher than those in the control group [(32.21±4.17) vs. (28.25±3.74), t=7.067, P<0.01]. The scores in Grade 2017 and Grade 2018 in the observation group were (32.61±3.79) and (31.99±4.38), respectively, which were significantly higher than those in the control group in Grade 2017 (27.45±3.95) and in Grade 2018 (28.74±3.55) at the end of the term. The scores of problem-solving abilities in Grade 2017 and Grade 2018 in the observation group were (25.35±2.78) and (25.99±3.19), respectively, which were significantly higher than those in the control group [(21.34±2.92), (21.30±3.51), t=6.064, t=7.679, P<0.01, P<0.01]. Conclusion:PBL method in nursing students can effectively improve the general self-efficacy feeling and problem-solving ability of students, which is worthy of promotion in higher vocational schools.

ABSTRACT

Purpose Papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) is difficult to diagnose its nature before surgery, thus results in misdiagnosis. This paper aims to determine the best diagnostic cutoff value using anteroposterior and transverse diameter ratio (A/L) and longitudinal and transverse diameter ration (L/T) in PTMC. Materials and Methods The CT data of 154 pathology proven benign and malignant thyroid nodules ≤ 1.0 cm in diameter in 78 cases were reviewed, including 75 PTMC in 47 patients and 79 benign nodule in 31 patients. The anteroposterior and transverse diameter ratio (A/T) on axial view, A/L on sagittal view, and L/T on coronal view were measured and calculated. A non-parametric method was used to draw the receiver operating curve of A/T, A/L and L/T. The mean and standard deviation of CT diameters in benign and malignant nodules were calculated. The area under the curve, sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic accuracy, positive predictive value and negative predictive value were determined. CT manifestations of small benign and malignant thyroid nodules were also analyzed. Results The A/T and A/L ratio were significantly larger for PTMC than benign nodules (P<0.01), while L/T diameters were significantly smaller than the benign nodules (P<0.01). The area under ROC was 0.8841, 0.7676 and 0.4052 for A/T, A/L and L/T respectively. The best diagnostic cutoff value of A/T and A/L were 1.05 and 1.0. With A/T ≥ 1.05, the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value and negative predictive value were 88.00%, 84.81%, 86.36%, 84.62% and 88.12%, respectively. With A/L ≥ 1.0, the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value and negative predictive values were 66.67%, 82.28%, 74.68%, 78.13% and 72.22%, respectively. CT characteristics of PTMC included superficial location, oval low density, blurry boundary, microcalcification and progressive enhancement with accuracy of 71.43%, 50.00%, 79.22%, 68.83% and 90.91%, respectively. Conclusion The cutoff values of A/T ≥ 1.05 and A/L ≥ 1.0 can be used to diagnose PTMC with high accuracy.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of two kinds of permeation enhancers,azone and clove bud oil,on transdermal permeation of Shuxiong cataplasm. Methods Cataplasm containing azone and clove bud oil,at different concentrations were prepared,with ferulic acid as the index,the role of enhancing permeation of azone and clove bud oil for the main active component were studied by in vitro permeation experiments. Results Both azone and clove bud oil at different concentrations could increase permeation. Clove bud oil was better than azone and the best concentration of Clove bud oil is 3%. Meanwhile,the permeation enhancing multiple of clove bud oil group was the highest which was 3.68. Conclusion With the cumulative permeation quantity of ferulic acid as the index,3% clove bud oil is more suitable to act as a permeation enhancer of Shuxiong cataplasm.

ABSTRACT

We carried out a dietary investigation of pupils aged 10 - 11 in Mei county in Shaanxi with level-based community random sample method. The result showedthat the average intake of daily food was mainly grain. That of energy was less than 70% of RDA and 60% of WHO. That of the protein was less than 70% of RDA in male and 60% of RDA in female. That of the other nutrients was less than 60% of RDA except iron, nicotinic acid and thiamine. Energy allocation among three mels was not adequate in male pupils. There waas higher energy in breakfast and supper, not sufficent at lunch.

ABSTRACT

Chorionic villi of 6-9 week normal pregnant women were obtained twenty-four hours after exposure to diagnostic ultrasound and observed under transmission electron microscope. Trophoblastic syncytium and trophoblastic cell showed remarkable ultrastructural changes which included:① cellular membrane lost its integrity, ② cytoplasm escaped into the interstitial arca, ③ endoplasmic reticulum dilated and ④ mitochondria swelled, cirstane reduced with small vesticle and irregular morphology.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the association of the polymorphism of serotonin transporter gene linked polymorphic(5-HTTLPR) region with depression and its clinical symptoms in the Han Chinese.Methods PCR-based technique was used to genotype 5-HTTLPR in 64 patients with major depression and 67 unrelated controls,and the association between the polymorphism and clinical symptoms of depression was explored according to HAMD score.Results Fewer patients tended to be of L/L genotype(9.4%) than controls(19.4%),but there was no significant difference.Among women,fewer patients tended to be of L/L genotype(2.9%) than controls(13.9%),but there was no significant difference.The symptom analysis showed that depressive symptoms were significantly associated with 5-HTTLPR genotypes or alleles in the patients of L/L genotype,and that L allele had significantly lower depressive scores compared with those of other genotypes or alleles(P
