ABSTRACT

@#Objective To measure the reliability and validity of the Lam Assessment of Stages of Employment Readiness (LASER) Putonghua version for injured workers, and observe the confidence of return to work on different preparation stages. Methods 85 injured workers with limb fractures were included. The data was obtained through face-to-face structured interview. The test-retest reliability and internal consistency were measured. Factor analysis was used to examine construct validity of the Putonghua version LASER. Results Principle component analysis extracted four factors, which was consistent with the original version of LASER. Intra- class correlation coefficient (ICC) of test-retest ranged 0.27~0.89, whereas the internal consistence among these 4 stages ranged 0.691~0.796. There were significantly differences in confident scores in different stages among 3 different confidence groups. Conclusion The structure validity of Putonghua version of LASER is useful for reflecting the readiness of injured workers' return to work. However, the reliability coefficient is rather low in some of the items, which could be resulted in incorrect judgment of readiness of return to work of injured workers. The further study on items correction and development is apparent.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To explore the case management model of return to work injured workers. Methods A retrospective cohort wasformed with 523 injured workers in rehabilitation centre. The social demographic information, medical data and intervention process wereextracted from the medical records. A Cox Regression Model was used to examine the effect of case management on work processes and otherrelevant factors affecting RTW. Results 275 cases (82.1%) out of the 335 subjects successfully returned to work after median absence durationof 36.0 days. Computer training prompted RTW outcomes (P<0.01), while disability adjustment activity showed an opposite effect(P<0.05). It showed that education level, family attitude to RTW and level of injury were significantly associated with outcomes of RTW.Conclusion Specific skills reconstruction and training would is one of the most important components of the case management interventionprogram on RTW. Although disability adjustment did not specifically benefit RTW, it might help in improving workers' general health status, and it should not be ignored in any case.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To discuss with the principles and methods of whole rehabilitation plan including occupational rehabilitation and community re-integration for injured workers.MethodsAfter following up on 371 injured workers, 14 intensive investigation and follow-up injured workers' cases were taken out as samples and studied according to some elements including gender and family role, degree of physical disability, rehabilitation process, compensation for work injury. The status of occupational rehabilitation and community re-integration and affected factors were also analyzed.ResultsThe factors affecting injured workers' occupational rehabilitation and community re-integration included the degree of physical disability, gender and family role, compensation for work injury, work injury rehabilitation policy and the model of work injury rehabilitation service management by multi-professional group.ConclusionThe whole injury rehabilitation plan should be considered the needs of injury worker basic medical treatment, occupational rehabilitation and community re-integration, the appropriate support and guidance should be provided and the model of one stage and intensive investigation work injury rehabilitation service management should be established early.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To observe the influence of the orthosis combined with functional training on patients' walking ability. Methods In different rehabilitation training stages, 36 patients, 11 cases of lumbar enlargement spinal cord injury (SCI), 25 cases of cerebrovascular accident (CVA) and head injury (HI), received strengthened training with ankle-food orthoses (AFO) for 6 weeks. And then, scores of ASIA, FMA and walking function in limited time (including 6 minute walking measures and 10 meters walking time measures) were evaluated respectively at admision, before and after applying AFO for 6 weeks. Results There was a significant difference in patients' walking function scores between before and after AFO training (P<0.01). However, SCI patients' ASIA scores have no significant changes after applying AFO for 6 weeks (P>0.05). In additional, HI patients' walking function scores after applying AFO for 6 weeks were more different from the scores at admision (P<0.01), and before AFO training (P<0.05). Conclusion AFO combined with functional training can obviously recover lumbar enlargement SCI and HI patients' walking ability.
