ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the difference of the clinical efficacy on post-stroke shoulder-hand syndrome treated by acupuncture at stellate ganglion and by conventional acupuncture. Methods Ninety cases of post-stroke shoulder-hand syndrome ( at stageⅠ or stageⅡ) were randomized into treatment group and control group, 45 cases in each group. Both groups received basic rehabilitation training. Additionally, the treatment group received acupuncture at the bilateral stellate ganglions of the neck, with reducing acupuncture by rotating the needles. The control group received the conventional acupuncture on Jiquan ( HT 1) , Chize ( LU 5) , Jianyu (LI 15), Quchi (LI 11), Shousanli (LI 10), Hegu (LI 4), with reducing acupuncture by lifting and thrusting the needle on Jiquan ( HT 1) and Chize ( LU 5) , and with mild reinforcing and reducong acupuncture on the other acupoints. The treatment for both groups was given once every day, and 14 times in total. The total syndrome scores, visual analogue scale (VAS) scores, modified Fugl-Meyer Assessment of motor function scale (FMA) scores, and modified Barthel index (MBI) were observed to evaluate the changes of symptoms, pain and motor function of the upper limbs, and activity of daily life before and after treatment in the two groups. The clinical efficacy was also compared between the two groups. Results The total syndrome scores, VAS scores, FMA scores and the modified Barthel index were improved apparently after treatment in the two groups (all P<0.01), and the improvement in the treatment group as more obvious (all P<0.01) . The total effective rate was 93.33% (42/45) in the treatment group, which was better than 73.33% (33/45) in the control group ( P<0.05) . During the treatment, patients of both groups had good compliance, and all completed the trial. No obvious adverse reaction was found in the two groups. Conclusion Acupuncture at stellate ganglion is effective and safe for the treatment of post-stroke shoulder-hand syndrome, and it has higher efficiency than the conventional acupuncture.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture by stages in treating post-stroke swallowing dysfunction. Method Sixty eligible patients were randomized into a staging-acupuncture group and an ordinary-acupuncture group, to respectively receive acupuncture by the stage of swallowing and ordinary acupuncture in addition to the basic treatments. Function estimation was conducted before and after intervention in both groups to compare the therapeutic efficacies.Result According to the water drinking test, the total effective rate was 83.3% in the staging-acupuncture group versus 53.3% in the ordinary-acupuncture group, and the difference was statistically significant by rank sum test (P<0.05), and the staging-acupuncture group was superior to the ordinary-acupuncture group especially in the pharyngeal stage (P<0.05); the differences were statistically insignificant in the oral stage and esophageal stage (P>0.05); regarding the video fluoroscopic swallowing study (VFSS), the staging-acupuncture group was significantly better than ordinary-acupuncture group in improving swallowing function (P<0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture by swallowing stages is effective in treating post-stroke swallowing dysfunction, especially in improving the swallowing function in pharyngeal stage.

ABSTRACT

Cobra venom factor (CVF), separated from the cobra venoms, is an acidic glucoproteins with anticomplementory activity. The combination of CVF with factor B in the blood produces a stable C3 and C5 converterase resulting in complement depletion by activating complement continually. There are many studies on it, such as inflammation, autoimmune disease, xenotransplantation, anti-tumor, etc. CVF is also an important tool drug for the study of complement role in the pathophysiological development of diseases.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of low molecular weight heparin calcium (LMWHC) in treating unstable angina pectoris. Methods 78 hospitalized patients of unstable angina pectoris were randomly divided into two groups:32 as control group who were treated with routine method, and 46 as treatment group who were treated with routine method plus LMWHC.Results The clinical therapeutic effect in the treatment group was 91.3%,which compared with the control group (62.5%) was obviously of great significance (P

ABSTRACT

Objective To validate the clinical effects of two feedback cancellation technologies, PureWave Feedback Eliminator and Active Feedback Intercept based on different platform, in hearing aids open fitting. Methods 40 patients(40 ears) were selected randomly to use the different products(RIC and ZON),which represent the different technologies(PureWave Feedback Eliminator and Active Feedback Intercept respectively), for testing ASG and MSG in the same condition of ear canal .Same receivers (50 dB) were placed in ear canals with medium earbud. Patients aged from 16 to 70 years old, mean age was 40?18.04,and the average PTA was 55.7?14.8 dB HL.Results ASG testing results under two technologies were different. ASG under PureWave Feedback Eliminator was 25.12 dB and that of AFI was 20.33 dB. Maximum difference of MSG gained from the two technologies at 3 kHz and 6.5 kHz were 8 dB and 6 dB,respectively. Conclusion PureWave Feedback Eliminator technology maintains a clear lead of ASG in hearing aids open fitting model, which is helpful for increasing fitting ranges for open fitting and improving comfort and cosmetic.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To observe the antibacterial, antitrichomonal, antipruritic and anti inflammatory effects of Jiefujing Lotion(Rhizoma Coptidis, cortex Phellodendri, Fructus cnidii Fruetus Kochiae, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, etc). Methods: The methods were applied antibacterial in vivo and in vitro , vaginal trichomoniasis resistant in vitro , itch threshold of guinea pigs caused by histamine, rats and mouse inflammation caused by albumen and dimethylbenzene. Results: Jiefujing Lotion had considerable inhibitory and disinfecting activities to bacteria and fungus related to edeitis. The lotion could also kill vaginal trichomonads, increase the itch threshold value and had anti inflammatory effect. Conclusion: Jiefujing Lotion had obvious antibacterial, antitrichomonal, antipruritic and anti inflammatory effects.

ABSTRACT

Immunologic cells not only express histamine receptors, most of them but also have the abilities to produce histamine. Histamine possesses extensive biologic effects on the components of the immune system, including the antigen presenting cells, T lymphocytes and antibody isotypes, and accordingly affects the pathological processes of the inflammation, immunological diseases and tumor. On the other hand, the various cytokines produced during immune responses can regulate the synthesis and release of histamine, as well as the expressions of histamine receptors.
