ABSTRACT

Objective:To study the effect of compound Lactobacillus acidophilus on the apoptosis of intestinal epithelial cells and expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in rats with necrotizing enterocolitis, so as to provide some theoretical reference for the application of compound Lactobacillus acidophilus in the prevention and treatment of necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC) for newborn infants. Methods:Thirty-six 48-hour old newborn SD rats were randomly divided into normal group, model group and intervention group, with 12 rats in each group. The NEC model was established by hypoxia and cold stimulation for 3 days, and the intervention group was given the compound Lactobacillus acidophilus at the same time; after the model was established, all the rats were sacrificed after 12 hours of fasting and their intestinal tissues were excised by terminal-deoxynucleoitidyl transferase mediated nick end labeling (TUNEL) method to determine the condition of apoptosis and to detect expression of the PCNA gene in the intestinal tissues by fluorescent quantitative PCR. Results:(1) The apoptosis rates of the intestinal tissues: in the model group, the normal group and the intervention group were (88.33±2.77)%, (4.75±0.75)% and (44.41±4.81)%, respectively, and the differences had statistical significance(all P<0.05). (2) The PCNA expression in the intestinal tissue by real-time PCR in the model group, normal group and intervention group were (9.28±3.26)×10 -4, (15.35±1.91)×10 -4 and (12.09±3.06)×10 -4, respectively, and the differences had statistical significance(all P<0.05). Conclusions:The apoptosis rate of intestinal epithelial cells increases and PCNA expression decreases when NEC occurs.Compound Lactobacillus acidophilus can reduce apoptosis, promote intestinal epithelial cell proliferation, and thus help to reduce the risk and severity of NEC in neonatal rats.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the correlation between the insertion torque values and primary stability of dental implants using different insertion torque values ,and search for the best insertion torque values that can acquire good primary stability. Methods Six male pure beagles were selected, and the first molars and four premolars of bilateral mandibulars were extracted. Three months later, a total of 48 XIVE dental implants were inserted. All implants were divided into group A, group B, group C, and group D based on the insertion torque value (ITV): group A, 0 0.05). Conclusion With the limitations of the study, it was concluded the primary stability does not simply depend on the insertion torque; When the insertion torque value was no less than 20Ncm, the dental implant can acquire good primary stability.

ABSTRACT

Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) infection rate is increasing these years. The incidence of related diseases subsequently rose.Hp infection can not only cause digestive diseases, but also lead to idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP),iron deficiency anemia, and indigestion etc.which can affect the growth and nutritional health of children.H.pylori has become a global issue, both international and domestic colleagues have reached a consensus on treatment for adults.According to the new conscnsus, the aim of this article is to study the diagnosis and treatment options for children with Hp infection.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the potential association between 163A/G and 950T/C polymorphisms of osteoprotegerin(OPG)gene and severe pre-eclampsia.Methods Eighty-five severe preeclamptic patients and 81 normal term pregnant women(as control group)were recruited from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology,West China Second University Hospital,Sichuan University during the period from July 2007 to March 2009,and they were all Han population living in Chengdu,China.Genotype and allele frequencies of 163A/G and 950T/C were determined by the PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism(RFLP)assay.Clinical and biochemical parameters for different alleles between the patients and controls were compared for statistical significance respectively, such as blood pressure, serum creatinine and 24-hour urine protein. Results The observed and expected genotype counts were consistent with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. No significant differences were found in the genotype and allele frequencies of 163A/G and 950T/C polymorphisms between the two groups(P > 0.05).However,in the preeclamptic group, serum creatinine was significantly higher in women with the AG + GG genotypes [(76 ±24)μmol/L]compared with AA genotype[(56 ± 18)μmol/L].Reversely,birth weight was lower in the AG + GG genotypes[(2040 ± 721)g]than those in the AA genotype[(2520 ± 810)g],and the P <0.05,respectively.In the severe pre-eclampsia,950T/C TT genotype carriers exhibited significantly higher systolic blood pressure[(153 ± 16)mm Hg(1 mm Hg =0.133 kPa)]and 24-hour urine protein [(4.0±2.5)g]compared with TT + TC carriers[(145 ±17)mm Hg,(2.9±1.8)g],respectively,furthermore the P < 0.05.Conclusions In severe pre-eclampsia,carriers with G allele at position 163A/G has more genetic predisposition than A allele carriers,as well as 950T/C T allele carriers compared with C carriers.Taken together, this study suggested that OPG gene polymorphisms might be associated with some clinical parameters of severe pre-eclampsia.
