ABSTRACT

In order to screen African swine fever virus (ASFV) diagnostic antigen with the best enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) reactivity. By establishing the ELISA method, the diagnostic antigen of ASFV p30 protein expressed by baculovirus-insect cell expression system as reference, we explored the antigenic properties and diagnostic potential of ASFV p35 protein expressed by prokaryotic expression system as a diagnostic antigen. The results of Western blotting and immunofluorescence show that the molecular weight of the recombinant p35 protein and p30 protein obtained was 40 kDa and 30 kDa, respectively, and these two proteins had good immuno-reactivity with ASFV positive serum. Recombinant p30 and p35 proteins were used as diagnostic antigens to establish ELISA, and the sensitivity and repeatability of these methods were tested. The results show that although the detection sensitivity of the p30-ELISA established in this study was higher than that of the p35-ELISA, the sensitivity of p35-ELISA was 95.8%, and variations in intra- and inter-assay repeatability of the two methods were less than 10%. The coincidence rate between the p35-ELISA and the imported kit was 97.2%. Results show that p35-ELISA was sensitive and stable, and could detect specific antibodies against ASFV.

ABSTRACT

Objective To understand the inhibitory control in children with functional articulation disorder (FAD).Methods 30 children who met the criteria of FAD aged of 4-6 years were selected as the case group, and 30 normal speaking children matched in age were selected as the control group. The inhibitory control function were examined by handgame and day-night stroop task. The data were described as median (P25,P75) and the differences were compared between the two groups by rank test. Results The scores of handgame (4(3,5)) and day-night stroop task(13(11,16)) in case group were much inferior to those in control group (5 (4,5),15 (14,15)) (P<0.05).Conclusion The inhibitory control of children with functional articulation disorder was much inferior to normal children.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the effect of maternal subclinical thyroid abnormalities [including subclinical hypothyroidism, hypothyroxinemia and positive anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb) with normal thyroid function] in women during 16-20 weeks of gestation on offspfing's intellectual development and motor function. Methods Sera from 1 268 women during 16-20 weeks of gestation (collected 2 years ago) were obtained and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), total thyroxine (TT4), free thyroxine (FT4) and TPOAb levels were measured. Pregnant specific thyroid function reference ranges were used to screen for subclinical hypothyroidism (18 cases), hypothyroxinemia (19 cases) and positive TPOAb (34 cases). From the same cohort, a total of 142 pregnant women who were euthyroid with negative TPOAb were selected as controls (a case: control ratio of 1 : 2). Intellectual and motor development score evaluations were performed in their children at 25-30 months of age. Results In the group of pregnant women with subclinical hypothyroidism, the offspring' s intelligence score was (109.89±13.81) points, which was 8.88 points lower than in the control group (P < 0.01). Similarly, the motor score of the offspring was (108.11±9.93) points, which was 9.98 points lower than in the control group (P < 0.01). In the pregnant women with hypothyroxinemia, the offspring's intelligence score was (112.32±15.10) points, 9.30 points lower than in the control group (P <0.01); the motor score was (112.21±12.26) points, 7.57 points lower than in the control group (P < 0.01). In the pregnant women with positive TPOAb and euthyroid function, the offspring's intelligence score was (112.70±20.64) points, 10.56 points lower than in the control group (P < 0.01); the motor score was (110.64±12.49) points, 9.03 points lower than in the control group (P < 0.01). Conclusion Maternal subclinical thyroid abnormality between 16-20 weeks of gestation adversely may affect offspring intellectual and motor development, suggesting the necessity for screening and treatment of maternal subclinical thyroid abnormality in the early stages of pregnancy.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To explore the characteristics of sensory behavior of autism children. Methods: 93 autism children between age 2 to 12, including 87 boys and 6 girls, were investigated based on Harrison's Sensory Behavior Scale. Results: Abnormal visual and auditory responses are quite common among autism children. Hyposensitivity to pain and overusing of smelling are less common. Significant differences were detected in auditory filtering, unusual visual response, hyposensitivity to pain and smell sensitivity between mild and severe groups. Conclusion: Autism children present varied sensory abnormalities. Severe autism children had significantly more sensory symptoms than the mild autism. The mechanisms for this deserves further exploring.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To explore the characteristics of control response and sustained attention in children with chronic tic disorders (CTD). Methods: 38 children fulfilled DSM-Ⅳ diagnosis of CTD and 38 normal children are involved in the study. All participants were assessed with the integrated visual and auditory continuous performance test (IVA-CPT). The differences of sustained attention and control response were compared. Results: Most of the values of IVA-CPT were lower in children with CTD compared with normal children. There was no significant difference between the visual and auditory sustained attention and control response in children with CTD. Conclusion: The present study suggests that control response and sustained attention are both impaired in children with CTD.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate communication and adaptive function of children with Asperger Syndrome (AS).Methods:The adaptive function of two groups,123 with AS and 23 normal, were investigated with Adaptive Ability Scale for Children; Intelligence were measured with WISC; Communication behaviors of AS children were also investigated. Results:Significant differences were found between the two groups in total score of adaptive abilities and in domains of socialization, communication and self-administration; Abnormal communication behaviors were found in AS children。Conclusion: AS children demonstrated abnormal communication behaviors and deficits in social adaptive abilities.Early diagrosis and intervention can reduce children's adaptive trouble after entering school.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyse the behavioral problems of children with chronic tic disorders(CTD).Methods:Children with CTD only and with comorbid attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD)as well as ADHD and normal controls were assessed by Child Behavior Checklist(CBCL).The rates and scores of behavioral problems between groups were compared. Results:The rate of behavioral problems, total score and most subscales scores in CTD comorbid ADHD group and ADHD group were significantly higher than those of CTD only and control group. There were no significant differences between CTD only and control group except obsessive compulsive problem, hyperactivity behavior, aggressive behavior and total score. Conclusion:The present study suggests that comorbid ADHD was associated with more behavioral problems.
