ABSTRACT

Ulcers of the lower leg secondary to venous insufficiency account for some 85% of all leg ulcers. The proper venous drainage of a leg requires three sets of veins. Thee deep vein surrounded by muscles, the superficial veins, and the veins connecting these two - the perforating or communicating veins

ABSTRACT

Suppurative hidradenitis is a chronic relapsing inflammatory disease originating in apocrine gland follicles, which may become chronic and often indolent due to subcutaneous extension with induration, scarring, destruction of skin appendages and sinus formation

ABSTRACT

Lymphoma in the skin may occur primarily or may represent extension of systemic disease. Advance in our ability to determine specific characteristics of the infiltrating cells have allowed greater understanding of cutaneous lymphomas in terms of differentiation from benign lymphoid aggregates and precise subclassification of primary cutaneous lymphoma [PCL]

ABSTRACT

Granulomas of the skin as in other tissues are produced in response to chronic infection, inflammation, a foreign body, or due to unknown cause. Histologically they are characterized by small [0.5-2mm] collection of epitheloid cells usually surrounded by a rim of lymphocytes and occasionally plasma cells. Frequently but not invariably large giant cells are found in the periphery or sometimes in the centre of granuloma. Granulomas are formed when T cell mediated immunity fails to eliminate antigen. Lymphokines released by lymphocytes sensitized to the antigen cause macrophages to differentiate into epithelioid cells and giant cells. These cells secrete other cytokines which influence inflammatory events. Granulomas are initiated by a variety of infectious and non infectious agents
