ABSTRACT

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y transversal de 144 pacientes con carcinoma de cuello uterino, ingresadas en el Hospital Oncológico de Santiago de Cuba en 1996, con el propósito de analizar las complicaciones más frecuentes al tratarlas con braquiterapia; entre ellas predominó la rectitis grado II. También prevalecieron las diarreas y la disuria, como síntomas del aparato digestivo y genitourinario, respectivamente. El dolor en hipogastrio estuvo presente durante el tratamiento y se destacó la hipertensión arterial como enfermedad concurrente. Al mayor número de la muestra recibió 5 aplicaciones endocavitarias(AU)


A descriptive and cross-sectorial study of 144 patientw with carcinoma of the cervix uteri, hospitalized in the Oncological Hospital of Santiago de Cuba province in 1996 was performed with the purpose of analyzing the most frequent treated with brachytherapy; among them 2nd degree rectitis prevailed. The diarrheas and dysuria also prevailed, as symptoms of the digestive and genito-urinary tracts, respectively. The pain in the hypogastrium was pfresent during the treatment and arterial hypertension stood out as a concurrent disease. The largest number of the sample was given 5 endocavity applications(AU)
