ABSTRACT

Objective@#To observe the association of carotid artery plaque with all-cause mortality and cardiovascular events.@*Methods@#A total of 7 017 participants who completed the carotid sonography examination between 2010 and 2011 were selected from the stroke and the elderly prospective cohort Kailuan study. The participants of stroke cohort received health examination between 2006 and 2007, and participants of elderly cohort received health examination between 2010 and 2011. All participants were divided into plaque group (3 285 cases) and without plaque group (3 732 cases) according to with or without carotid artery plaque. The all-cause mortality and cardiovascular events were compared between the 2 groups. Multivariate Cox regression analysis was used to identify the association of carotid artery plaque with all-cause mortality and cardiovascular events.@*Results@#(1) There were 4 297 male (61.2%) and 2 720 female (38.8%) in this cohort and participants were (58.1±11.8) years old. Age, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, rates of male, smoking, drinking, history of hypertension and diabetes mellitus were higher in the plaque group than in the without plaque group, and high density lipoprotein cholesterol was lower in the plaque group than in the without plaque group (all P<0.01) at baseline. (2) During a follow-up period of (4.92±0.59) years, the incidence rates of all-cause mortality in the plaque group and without plaque group were 5.5% (180/3 285) and 1.5% (57/3 732) ,respectively (P<0.01) .The incidence rates of cardiovascular events in the plaque group and without plaque group were 3.8% (124/3 285) and 1.4% (52/3 732) , respectively (P<0.01) . (3) Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that carotid plaque was an independent risk factor of all-cause mortality (HR=1.667, 95%CI 1.160-2.395, P<0.01) and cardiovascular events (HR=1.942, 95%CI 1.312-2.876, P<0.01) after adjusting for age, sex, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose, body mass index, total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, smoking, drinking, history of hypertension and diabetes mellitus, and use of lipid-regulating drugs.@*Conclusion@#Carotid plaque is an independent risk factor of all-cause mortality and cardiovascular events. ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore application of targeted contrast enhanced ultrasonography in diagnosis of early stage vascular endothelial injury and diabetic nephropathy. Methods:Targeted SonoVue-TM microbubble was prepared by attaching anti-TM monoclonal antibody to the surface of ordinary micro-bubble SonoVue by biotin-avidin bridge method and ultrasonic instrument was used to evaluate the developing situation of targeted microbubble in vitro. Twenty 12-week-old male GK rats and 20 Wistar rats were enrolled in this study, and were randomly divided into targeted angiography group and ordinary angiography group. Targeted microbubbles SonoVue-TM or general microbubble SonoVue were rapidly injected to the rats via tail vein; the developing situation of the two contrast agents in rats kidneys was dynamically observed. Time intensity curve was used to analyse rat kidney perfusion characteristics in different groups. Results:Targeted ultrasound microbubble SonoVue-TM was successfully constructed, and it could be used to develop an external image. Targeted microbubbles SonoVue-TM enabled clear development of experimental rat kidney. Time intensity curve shapes of rat kidney of the two groups showed as single apex with steep ascending and slowly descending branch. Compared with the control group, the rising slope of the GK rat renal cortex, medulla in targeted angiography group increased(P<0.05); the peak intensity of medulla increased (P<0.05), and the total area under the curve of medulla increased (P<0.05). Compared with control group, the ascending branch of the GK rat in renal cortex, medulla in ordinary angiography group increased (P<0.05). The peak intensity of the curve increased (P<0.05), and the total area under the curve increased (P<0.05). Compared with the ordinary angiography group, the peak of GK rat medullacurve in targeted angiography group intensity increased (P<0.05), and the total area under the curve increased (P<0.05).Conclusions:Targeted microbubbles SonoVue-TM can make a clear development of experimental rat kidney, its stable performance meet the requirement of ultrasonic observation time limit, and it can reflect early changes of blood perfusion in GK rat kindey.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To assess the anti-nociception and anti-inflammation pharmacodynamics of Asarum heterotropoides var. mandshuricum and A. sieboldii.</p><p><b>METHOD</b>Both the writhing test and hot plate test were conducted to assess the anti-nociceptive effect of Asarum and Xylene-induced mouse ear edema was conducted to assess the anti-inflammatory effect of Asarum.</p><p><b>RESULT</b>Twelve samples of A. heterotropoides var. mandshuricum and A. sieboldii from different producing areas showed anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects. Specifically, 27% to 61% of the seven samples of A. heterotropoides var. mandshuricum showed anti-nociceptive effect and while 34% to 48% of A. sieboldi showed anti-nociceptive effect. The inflammatory inhibition rate of A. heterotropoides var. mandshuricum produced in six producing areas (38%-57%) is higher than that of A. heterotropoides var. mandshuricum produced in five producing areas (34%-48%). The same kind of Asarum produced in different areas showed significant differences. A. heterotropoides var. mandshuricum produced in Jilin province (38%-57%) showed better anti-nociceptive effect than sample produced in Heilongjiang province (34%) in writhing test. A. heterotropoides var. mandshuricum produced in Heilongjiang (43%) province showed a better anti-nociceptive effect than samples produced in Liaoning province (29%-36%) in hot plate test. A. sieboldii produced in Shaanxi province (47%-49%) showed a better anti-nociceptive effect than samples produced in Hubei province (40%) in writhing test. A. sieboldii produced in Shaanxi province (45%-59%) showed better anti-nociceptive effect than samples produced in Chongqing (40%) in hot plate test. A. heterotropoides var. mandshuricum produced in Jilin province (51%-63%) showed better anti-inflammatory effect than samples produced in Heilongjiang province (50%). In totality, the results from analysis of geoherbalism showed that famous-region A. heterotropoides var. mandshuricum and A. sieboldii had a better anti-nociception effect than Asarum produced in other producing areas, famous-region A. heterotropoides var. mandshuricum had a better effect than those produced in other producing areas in anti-inflammation. But famous-region A. sieboldii showed no obvious difference from those produced in other producing areas in anti-inflammation.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>All samples of Asarum showed anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects, but with significant differences among Asarum produced in different areas, indicating the eoherbalism to some extent.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective To synthesize a new reagent, 1-(6-bromo-2-benzothiazolyl)-3-(5-bromo-8-quinolyl)-triazene (BBTBQT) and apply to the determination of cobalt. Methods The reagent had been synthesized by diazotization and coupling reaction. After purification and characterization, BBTBQT was tested for its color reaction conditions with cobalt in the presence of cetylpyridinium bromide (CPB). Results In the presence of borax buffer solution at pH value of 9.0, the reagent reacted with cobalt to form a blue stable complex with a molar ratio of 2∶1; the complex had a maximum absorption at 640 nm. The apparent molar absorptivity of the complex is 1.55 ?105 L/(mol?cm). Beer’s law was obeyed in the range of 0-0.28 mg/L for cobalt. The method had been applied to determine cobalt in drainage sediment and vitamin B12 injection solution with a mean relative error of 1.9%-5.8% and a standard relative deviation of 1.7%-3.8%. Conclusion The present method is selective, sensitive, accurate, convenient and suitable for determination of trace cobalt in the samples.
