ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the efficacy and toxicities of RF transparent heating (RTH) combined with transcatheter hepatic arterial chemoembolization (TACE) in the treatment of advanced primary hepatic carcinoma. Methods In a randomized manner, 69 patients with advanced primary hepatic carcinoma were divided into two groups: study group (TACE+RTH) 34 cases and control group (TACE alone) 35 cases, the control group were treated with DDP 80mg, FU 1000mg and E-ADM 60mg, E-ADM was used with iodized oil embolism 10ml. Results The total effective rate in the near future were 70.59% and 45.71%, the overall survival rates of 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 years were 82.35%, 73.53%, 58.82%, 38.24% in study group and 74.29%, 75.14%, 45.71%, 22.86% in control group, respectively. Toxicities were similar comparing with the two groups. Conclusions RTH combined with TACE in the treatment of advanced primary hepatic carcinoma is better than TACE alone, at the same time TACE +RTH method is no increasing toxicity and is an effective safe combined one.

ABSTRACT

[Objective]To evaluate temporary balloon occlusion of the abdominal aorta in sacral tumors surgical operation as a useful adjuvant technique.[Method]Temporary balloon occlusion of abdominal aorta was used in 36 patients during the sacral tumors surgical operations(study group).Another 32 patients with sacral tumors who receive the preoperative arterial embolization theraphy were used as control group. The quantity of blood loss during the surgery, the whole surgery time, the complication, mean days in hospital, recovery days post-operation and recurrence rate were recorded. The results in two groups were compared with each other.[Result]The time of operations of study group was(149.19?73.81)minutes.The loss of blood was(826.67?509.11)ml.Two cases had complication after operation.Mean days in hospital were(26.05?7.08)d.Recovery days post-operation were(34.61? 8.22)d.Recurrence rate of six months was 5.5 %.Recurrence rate of one year was 11%.Recurrence rate of two years was 16%.The time of operations of control group was(221.33?45.19)min.The loss of blood was( 1 652 ?706.99)ml.Eight cases had complications after operation.Mean days in hospital were(37.93?7.63)d.Recovery days post-operation were(46.03?9.67)d.Recurrence rate of six months was 18%.Recurrence rate of one year was 31%.Recurrence rate of two years was 40.6%.[Conclusion]The effect of temporary balloon occlusion of abdominal aorta is reliable. It significantly reduced the time of operations, the loss of blood, complications, mean days in hospital, recovery days post-operation and recurrence rate.It makes the operation of sacral tumors much more safer than before.

ABSTRACT

Objective To sum up the experience of embolization uterine aterial to treat uterine leiomyoma and to discuss how to prevent and manage the complications. Methods 103 patients with uterine leiomyoma have treated by uterine aterial embolized.Postembolization syndrome and 18 accidents out of 16 patients were reviewed. Results Postembolization syndrome were treated by conservation therapy, among the 18 accidents, there were 6 aterial rupture, after embolization the rupture aterial,no serious complications occurred;6 uterine aterial spasm,4 were cured after treated,1 aterial false embolized,1 embolized uterine aterial with Gelfoam particle;3 patients fibroids extrusion, the fibroids was detached easily, all were cured after conservation treated;1 had amenorrheal after embolization;1 case urine bladder aterial was embolized, there was not complication after conservation treat;1 case had uterine infection,no serious complications occurred after hysterectomy. Conclusion The correct management of the complications may helpful to increase the cure rate.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the clinical application of segmental RAE for treating renal arteriovenous malformation(RAVM) and fistula (RAVF).Methods 4 cases of RAVM or RAVF were treated by segmental RAE,Embolic material was permanent embolism. Results 4 cases RAE operations were performed successfully,After 12~14 months follow-up,3 cases were no evidence of recurrence,1 case clinical symptom was relieved. Conclusion Segmental RAE is an effective and safe approach to the treating RAVM and RAVF.
