ABSTRACT

Primary hypomagnesemia with secondary hypocalcemia(HSH) is a rare cause of hypoparathyroidism. This article presents a case of a 26-year-old male with recurrent generalized weakness and tetany, and a literature review of diagnosis and treatment of primary HSH. The biochemical tests revealed the patient had severe hypomagnesemia, mild hypocalcemia, hypokalemia, and hypoparathyroidism. Transient receptor potential melastatin-6(TRPM6) gene mutation were detected by gene test, which confirmed the diagnosis of primary HSH. The patient had been treated with long term oral magnesium supplementation, who remained asymptomatic during the follow-up. Primary HSH is a rare autosomal-recessive disorder caused by mutations in the TRPM6 gene which encoding a magnesium permeable channel expressed in the intestine and the kidney. The primary defect is impaired intestinal absorption of magnesium with secondary renal excretion, leading to a series of clinical symptoms. The treatment is mainly through lifelong magnesium supplementation.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the feasibility of tubular model based segmentation method for cystic artery and three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction model of Calot's triangle. Methods A tubular model based 3D region growing algorithm was proposed for the segmentation of cystic arteries and its adjacent vessels from 13 patients' CT images in DICOM format. The data was transferred to 3D visualization workstation based on a set of CalotShow1.0 software for 3D reconstruction. Results The method could effectively segment cystic artery and obtain the 3D model of Calot's triangle. Conclusions The 3D reconstruction model based on tubular model related vessel segmentation method and CalotShow1.0 can accurately display the spatial positions and adjacent relationships of cystic artery and Calot's triangle.

ABSTRACT

The research of spine related disease is an emerging interdisciplinary subject and the key point is the spinal biomechanical properties. In this paper, the method of studying biomechanical properties of lumhar and cervical vertebra based on 3D finite element model is analyzed.Three kinds of method in building finite element model are specified:geometric modeling method,3D coordinatngraphic modeling method and image modeling method. The three key steps of image modeling method for building of basic geometric model are extracted as defining material behavior of vertebra and soft tissue, defining boundary condition, and confirming of the model. Then two principal improving aspects of building finite element model and the foreground of the research are discussed.

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we present an experimental research on the frameless registration of DSA/CT images based on frameless localization algorithm. The result shows that, 3D fusion and registration of vessels in the DSA images and anatomical structures in CT images will help surgeons to make accurate diagnosis and on plann operative.
