ABSTRACT

[ABSTRACT] Objective: To investigate the effect of botulinum toxin-A (BTA) on lower esophageal sphinctor (LES) in dogs, providing scientific base for treating achalasia with BTA. Methods:BTA was endoscopically injected into the LES in 10 dogs, and saline injection was taken as control group(10 dogs). LES pressure was measured before and after injection. Contents of Ach and activity of AchE were determined in LES samples. By means of Karnovsky-Roots technique, ultrastructure of nerve terminal and vesicles containing Ach were studied under light and transmission electronic microscopy. Results:LES pressure obviously decreased in BTA-treated dogs after injection (P

ABSTRACT

Using scanning electromicroscope, seven species of anopheline mosquito eggs were studied. Among them, the microstructure of exochorion of Anopheles liangshanensis. An. kweiyangensis An. kunmingensis, An. hyrcanus and An. messeae were not reported before. The results showed that ultrastructure of plastron network, frill and tubercles of deck were useful in distinguishing sibling species of anopheline eggs. Microstructure of float had little difference between species. The micropylar area and lobed tubercles presented obvious intraspecific variations, so, it should be careful for using in classification.

ABSTRACT

Peripheral blood cells of ten cases of acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) were detected by zymochemical method (myeloperoxidase MPO, platelet peroxidase PPO) and cytochemical method with CD serial monoclonal antibody (CD5, CD7, CD9, CD16, CD13, CD19, CD20, CD33, CD41, CD42) labelled by immunogold. The concrete procedure of serial electron microscopy for ALL diagnosis is also described.
