ABSTRACT

15 cases of large venous malformations in oral and maxillofacial region involving in multiple anatomical sites were treated by suture ligation and injection of pingyangmycin oleum iodisatum emulsion(PLE) for 2-5 times.Treatment effect of grade Ⅳ was observed in 12 cases, grade Ⅲ in 3 cases. No severe systemic adverse reaction and no local adverse reation were obseved in all cases.Suture ligation and PLE injection can enhance the therapeutic effect and reduce the adverse reactions in the treatment of large venous malformations of the oral and maxillofacial region.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the clinical effect of tongue cancer patients after surgery with radial forearm flap in tongue reconstruction. Methods 60 tongue cancer patients after surgery were selected and randomly divided into the pectoralis major latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap group and free forearm group,30 patients in each group. The tongue flap survival and healing, voice function recovery, lingual satisfaction, reconstruction complications and the quality of life, etc were observed. Results The survival rate and healing rate of flap in the forearm flap group were significantly higher than those of latissimus dorsi myocutaneous breast patients (93.33% vs 70.00%,96.60% vs 70.00%,all P <0.05).Forearm patients speech function recovery and tongue body shape satisfaction were signifi cantlybetter thanthepectoralismajormusclegroups (96.67 % vs 66.67 %,P < 0.05).Aftersurgery,the complica tions of forearm group was less than pectoralis major group (13.33% vs 36.37%,P < 0.05).Quality of life score of forearm group was significantly higher than the pectoralis major group[(981.00 ± 10.47)points vs (902.00 ± 22.54) points,(P < 0.05)].Conclusion In patients with tongue cancer after surgery with radial forearm flap in tongue reconstruction, the advantages are ideal survival rate and healing situation, good voice function recovery degree, high tongue body shape satisfaction and less complications, and has the positive influence to the patients quality of life after surgery.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the ideal method of parotid tumors by clinical surgical treatment. Methods 150 patients with parotid gland tumor were divided into parotid gland tumors and total resection of the tumor, partial parotidectomy and parotid gland tumors and shallow lobectomy three groups, fifty cases in each group. After the operation, operation time, cure recurrence and other related projects were observed. Results In 150 patients with parotid gland tumor, benign parotid gland tumors accounted for 84.66%,malignant tumor accounted for 15.34%.The operation time of tumor resection group and partial parotidectomy group was (74.00 ± 12.54) min, which was less than that of the total resection group (112.00 ± 20.37) min and shallow leaf group (98.00 ± 17.35) min.The number of patients satisfied with facial in partial resection group was 48 cases, and 45 cases with parotid gland function reserved, which were significantly better than the other two groups, incidence rate of postoperative complications (3.3%) was obviously less than the other two groups (10.7%,8.7%),the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05).Conclusion The operation time of patients with parotid gland tumor underwent partial resection is short, the cure condition is ideal, can effectively control the tumor relapse, metastasis and postoperative complications, can keep part of the parotid gland function, has obvious advantages.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the protective effect of adiponectin in early atherosclerosis and the diagnostic value of adiponectin in metabolic syndrome in obese children. Methods Total 176 obese children and 88 normal weight children aged 9-12 years were included in the present study. All participants underwent hematologic and biochemical tests including serum adiponectin, high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP),fasting blood glucose, insulin, and plasma lipids. Homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR)was calculated. Noninvasive ultrasound measurement including intima-media thickness of the common carotid artery(IMT), brachial flow-mediated dilatation (FMD), carotid artery compliance (CAC), and the maximum fatthickness ahead of peritoneum (Pmax) were obtained to investigate arterial mechanical properties and endothelial function. Results (1) The level of adiponectin was negatively correlated with obese index, blood pressure, fasting insulin, hsCRP, HOMA-IR, and IMT(P<0.05 or P<0. 01 ); but not with triglyceride, fasting blood glucose, CAC, high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C), and FMD. (2) The risk of metabolic syndrome increased 3.43 times in children with adiponectin level <7. 060 mg/L compared with >7. 060 mg/L. (3)Receiver operating characteristic( ROC ) curve was used to choose the optimal cutpoint of adiponectin to identify obese children with the metabolic syndrome. The area under the curve (AUC) for adiponectin to discriminate the sensitivity of metabolic syndrome was 0. 769 (95% CI0. 714-0.816, P< 0. 0 1 ). (4) The obese children were divided into three groups according to the cut-off value for adiponectin (high, middle, low groups). There were significant differences in the prevalences of severe obesity, visceral fat accumulation, hypertension, insulinemia, low HDL-C, metabolic syndrome among three groups (P<0.05). Conclusions High levels of serum adiponectin could prevent early stage of atherosclerosis. The lower the adiponectin level, the higher the incidence of metabolic syndrome.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo study the correlation between human erythrocyte membrane phospholipid profile and insulin sensitivity in elderly diabetic patients. MethodsThe levels of phosphatidylcholine (PC), phosphatidylserine(PS),phosphatidtlinostiol(PI),phosphatidylethanolamine(PE),the maximum erythrocyte deformation index(DImax) , the maximum erythrocyte aggregation index(AImax) and glucose disposal contant Ki (KITT) were measured in 32 cases of elderly diabetics and 30 healthy old subjects. ResultsThe KITT was lower in diabetic patients than in normal controls (P
