ABSTRACT

Watery diarrhea, nasal discharge, rales and swelling of wattles were detected in 37% of flock composed of 10000 broiler chickens. The daily mortality was 60 birds. Bipolar microorganisms were seen in Giemsa-stained impression smears from the heart blood. Extensive subcutaneous infiltration with serous fluid containing numerous heterophils were noticed in wattles. Heterophilic infiltration in the subcutaneous tissue and lymphocytic aggregation among striated muscle fibers were observed in the head. Lymphocytic encephalitis and hemorrhages in the cerebellum were seen. Degenerative changes of the hepatic cells together with heterophilic and lymphocytic laryngitis, fibrinous pericarditis and necrotic myocarditis were noticed

ABSTRACT

Nine 6-month old Friesian heifers and 10-month old female buffalo showed loss of appetite, fever, muscular tremors, constipation and then died within few weeks. Exposure to aldrin- sprayed pasture was reported. Encephalomalacia, perineural and perivascular edema, in addition to hemorrhage and perivascular cuffing had been detected in brain of the heifers and buffalo. Degenerative changes, coagulative necrosis, lymphocytic aggregations and hemorrhages were seen in the liver and kidneys of the heifers and buffalo. Depletion of lymphocytes was seen in lymphoid organs

ABSTRACT

Crop impaction, ruffled feathers, unsteady gait, dyspnea and sunken eyes were the clinical signs in a flock of 30,000 Hypeco [Bovans] 28-day old chicks. Rancid ration was used in the feeding of this flock. The daily mortalities ranged from 300-400 chicks for 5 successive days. Congested blood vessels, hemorrhagic areas, edema and lymphocytic aggregation were the most predominant lesions in liver, kidneys, heart, brain, lungs and intestine. The liver showed areas of hemopoietic activity
